About James Ketchell
James is a serial adventurer, motivational speaker and Scouting ambassador.
On 1st February 2014, James became the first and only person to have rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, successfully summited Mount Everest and cycled 18,000 miles around the world.
Seven years prior to all this, he was recovering from a serious motorcycle accident that left him with broken legs as well as a severely broken and dislocated ankle. The prognosis was that he was likely to suffer a permanent walking impairment and would certainly not be able to continue the active physical lifestyle he had enjoyed up to that point.

Great video! I've ordered my red (#7447) Scotchbrite pad and will start buffing my bike when it arrives.
Informative , simple and well presented .
Great and simple instructions. Just 1 question: How do you restore the anodised logo?
Nice!
How do you polish the welds? Mask off area and use the fine scotch pad? Or is there a paste polish that works better for the welds?
Do you not have to clean the frame after polishing it? Apply a light of coat of WD-40 maybe and then polish off?
Can I use sandpaper to remove scratches then red scotchbrite to rebbrush the frame. Some scratches wouldn’t come out with the scotchbrite pad ?
Aiiiiee!,
Mine ears!!!
Looks like and sounds like Alan Wilder
Wear a mask when doing anything with titanium dust.
From: mcf.tamu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/TITANIUM.pdf
"Effects of Exposure:
Titanium is generally considered to be physiologically inert. There are no reported cases in the literature where titanium as such has caused human intoxication. The dusts of titanium or most titanium compounds such as titanium oxide may be placed in the nuisance category"
10,000 K... well that’s a high mileage
Wear a mask and preferably do it outdoors!
This is why you paint metal components.
Some day the people who buy titanium bikes will learn this.
nonsense, I've titanium bikes in their second decade of use, never painted nor polished and they still look better than my newly new carbon and steel bikes. That guy has strapped bags to his frame, causing problems, if racks had been employed then no restoration would of been needed as titanium has a surface oxidation that protects it.
@@kc3718 mkay. Titanium and steel have virtually the same hardness, so anything which will scratch a steel frame will scratch a titanium frame.
I personally prefer repairing paint, it's much easier.
Nothing looks like clean titanium in the sunlight!!
Silly thing to say - this is WHY you buy a bare titanium bike - when it starts looking worn, just re-brush it - if your painted finish gets scratched and chipped, you're stuck with it, unless you want to pay big money to have it resprayed...
😂😂😂😂
