I am still fighting with my daughters bike. And have to redo the clear cote as I did not get it smooth ( I guess it was just to hot for the spray can yesterday... Martin you have my deep respect...
Amazing work Martin and expect nothing less from a master . The flag looks fantastic . I can see some thinking painting it a sin but dont forget this frame had a dent on the top tube that needed something artistic to cover up the repair and you nailed it perfectly .

An American flag would be the last thing I would have chosen to paint on my bike, I guess because I am American and I see flags everywhere on everything, even underwear. toilet paper, and snot rags. I have a titanium frame and I have thought of painting it but can't decide what I want yet. You are pretty good with the airbrush and fine detail.

Thanks for another stupendous lesson, Martin. Regarding the matte clear coat and applying fresh masking to seal in the paint edges, would you apply it the same way for gloss clear? Or would you follow the contours of the color because gloss clear will have some contrast with the matte titanium finish?

SECOND MASKING FOR CLEAR COAT: Does this result in a thin raised line of clear coat? Last time i did clear, i extended the clear to the nearest edge or frame weld. But from this video it doesn't look like i need to. would love your advice :)

Have to be honest. Don't like the brand logo on top.
I don't like the lettering and alligator too. But the client gets what the client wants.
My only problem is the colour. Now the black blends in with the black of the shading and it looks a bit dirty. A metallic like the frame or like a bright blue might have worked better.
@@ETOE exactly! I knew you didn't like it either Martin. Takes away the great looks of the flag with its shadows. I'm pretty sure now the client realizes that he/she did a mistake.
@@ChristopherPronger metallic shadowing/edging of the letters would be fitting too, I guess.

Free tip use an electric toothbrush it makes getting into the tight gaps easy as it does all the work
Question about clear coat. Don’t you need to wear full protective gear or is it different for different clear coats?
Wear what ever you like. Off camera I like to work in panties only.
@ETOE Hi I have a brushed finish on a titanium frame is it ok to use 360 grit sandpaper to remove a small scratch , will this weaken the frame or not ?

I heard etch primer ruins the stencils(vinyl decals), did it not?? I’m enjoying seeing all the steps involved as it’s a similar process with screen printing! Separating Layers in photoshop and illustrator 😃
Is it possible and in that case how you can put a transparent paint on it, just to give a little more protection about scratches and small hit on the frame? perhaps on a MTB @ETOE

It's so frustrating that so many people refuse to talk about painting titanium. There are things you just can't do anodizing, but every conversation you bring up on google is 2/3rds people saying to anodize, absolutely drowning out any information about how to paint.

1. I want to start custom painting Bikes, Helmets and a lot of other stuff like rims bars usw. I bought a vinylcutter like 3 months ago an i have made stickers for my stuff but i want to bring my customizing to another level. I was wondering if i would be abled to make whole custom desingns on bikes with only an airbruch and vinyl of course? Or would it be better not to get an airbrush and buy spraycans oä. and i dont know if i can get all the colours you can mix for airbrusch like oilslick kind of things as spraypaint.
2. Is it stupid to paint a bikeframe in the backyard because of dust etc?
