My god what a game. Especially impressive for not having a dedicated stax deck at the table. Tasigur control really goes the distance.
Tasigur always wins the value of late game.
I just realized that despite the game lasting 20+ turns, Zack only had a whopping 5 lands in play
at one point he had 6, but he sacrificed one to bounce a creature

There's something very surreal about seeing Thassa's Oracle used for value.
It's genuinely not quite as uncommon as you'd think

I've used it a few times as a body to draw cards via Tymna before. Also to be a blocker for an opponent's Tymna as well.

The game went so long at a point I forgot why Mike was making treasures.
The number of times I heard "Nezahal triggers, and Mike creates a treasure" I almost forgot what that card does.
I thought it was fairly straight forward. Whenever an opponent casts a noncreature spell, mike creates a treasure. It's printed on the card.
Seriously though you should make that the alter after that game.

As someone who doesn't play cEDH, this game's weirdness, especially in the midgame, really shows some of the weird quirks of cEDH. We have decks that all have interaction, but are all locked out of their plan, leaving everyone mostly staring at each other. Poor Ryan sitting there with all the permanents in the world and nothing to do with them is a prime example.

@@MadThespian If you aren't a little salty about at least 1 of those 2 cards, you might be bad at cEDH, since tutoring and drawing combined are the two most important things to be doing other than straight up winning. Not being able to draw extra cards turns the game into a slog for most decks, and not being able to tutor leaves most decks with no choice but to draw into win cons, which are usually a pair of cards, meaning the odds of drawing both are painful unless you draw lots. Get both out and the game is a nightmare for most decks. This ignores instances where you turn either of the cards into a combo, IE wheel with Hullbreacher or force searching with Opposition Agent, and people love to wheel. Still, is it the nastiest stax you can run? I doubt it, even Rule of Law can be as hostile or more hostile, making it technically impossible for many decks to win.
Regarding Prime Time, are you serious? Literally every green deck regardless of skill level should play Prime Time (if it was legal), Opposition Agent and Hullbreacher are both largely dead cards at lower levels of play, where people rely on top decking big creatures/spells, and a lot of people actually like playing that way even if they 'know better', because it can be fun. Prime Time shits on those games, and it would also be among the best things you can do in cEDH that isn't winning the game on the spot (not saying you can't win the game off of 2 lands, just saying even if you don't, 2 non-basic lands *every turn* for free is bonkers). Stax isn't fun, but idiot proof value engines are even less fun I'd argue. That said, if you don't agree, Rule 0 it and play whatever cards you want. I'd love to have Opposition Agent banned because it hurts my Zur deck so much, but because it shouldn't be, I instead just keep trying to sneak in more removal to deal with the Agent (and Hullbreacher, because wheels where you get no cards aren't fun). I even run Opposition Agent in my Zur deck, because it can take over games, in part because I know what it can do to my own deck. Would more removal solve Prime Time? Maybe in cEDH, but not in casual, where the other two aren't an issue.

Played a I think 7-8 player commander game. I played a super casual gimmick Kenerith deck where I gave people favors if they killed any non-humans/non-knights I summoned or that opponents summoned. Add on the fact that everyone at the table respected this interesting take at commander and the game went for a pretty long time.
The stack that starts at @21:30 is the kind of magic I live for! Love it!!
This was one hell of a game and I loved every minute. Really cool to see just how much value Tasigur brought, I'm highly interested in learning more about the deck!

Every now and then I forget they're all recording their tables in different areas, so one'll reach to draw or something, fingers get cut off cause of the frame and I'm sitting their confused and concerned until my brain cell decides to work again!

This game just shows that with these widely played creature threats in the form of Hullbreacher, Opposition agent to be expected each and every game the number of hard removal spells needs to be upped. Looking at the decks the First Sliver had a mere 3 Spells that can outright kill a troublesome creature (counting Gilded Drake), Tasigur 4, Najeela 5 and Tymna/Thrasios 2. Since you nowadays have to expect at least 2-3 players running 3+ colors on every table odds are that there are much more of these troublesome creatures to be had.
I am wondering if something like Kolaghan's Command could be playable. Kills both Hullbreacher and Opposition Agent and also can return yours or destroy an artifact (even your own crypt if needed).

That was a freaking amazing game guys. Not sure about everyone else but I love seeing games like this. It shows that cEDH isn't just a turn 5 Max and I win game.
What a grind! Iâm surprised that the table thought Folger was the threat when Ryan had all the hate pieces on board. I guess all the Tasigur activations meant that Folger was getting gas the whole time....
I'm surprised the table saw him as a threat (besides Ryan who was dead to Shaman). Especially as he was so close to milling himself
This is why the dragon shield sleeves I use for my Tasigur deck are petrol. The deck is just gas. and yes, I bought the sleeves solely so I can make that joke every time I play it.
Folger has a reputation at this table for how long they've played with him and their usual game plan is to hate Folger off the table as fast as possible. Folger usually winds up as the archenemy even if other players have arguably more threatening board states.

In this game i think they killed him there, because Ryan had Drannith Magistrate. And the "secret" Card Folger took with Praetors Grasp might have been Thassas Oracle. Folger had a lot of Counterspells in hand and possibly a Consultation or tainted pact. Folger could kill Ryan and afterwards he'd be free to carry out his plan.
I fell asleep, and when I woke up, this was STILL going.
What an amazing game!!! I want to create a Tasigur control for myself now.

I love the way mike played the game - he casts neo form into opposition agent to try to save Ryan. He knows his best avenue is to have one of the reactive decks (tasigur) lose first, keep Ryan in the game as hullbreacher weakens his card advantage engine and have them grind out the ad nauseam playerâs win first then try to win himself.

@@Kreyaloril hullbreacher was banned as it gave blue access to a form of both stax and mana ramp, the mana part being the broken part.
This Game was by fair the best game ive ever seen. this is nuts. i thought my games i play at home with some buddies take 2 hours is long but 6 hours holy smokes that is awesome game of magic the gathering right there. love it you guys are amazing.

What a slug fest! Such a good game. Was disappointed that after all of that, it ended with a fish consult... Just didn't feel like it captured the spirit of that game. Still an awesome video ;)
I think Tasigur was at least slightly more impactful that hullbreacher. Rebuying soooo much permission and removal to police the table with was the biggest factor in the slog I think.
Of course, Tasigur's buy back might not have been so instrumental if not for hullbreacher shutting down draws, so I can go either way on it.

This game was insane... If I was Folger I would hold the Praetor's Grasp until Ryan was dead. Slow squeezing him out with Deathrite Shaman, then pulling the trigger. Playing Dark Confidant didn't help either but I 100% understood why he played it. Tasigur is amazing, that is all.

Unfortunately, it was a one-time printing. Mike does have some vaporwave aesthetic designs in the works that might end up as playmats someday!
