    Having just started to climb the learning curve with this, I can appreciate the work you put in and the pleasure you took out.
    Shout out to you and the creator of this game.

      It was certainly lots of fun to do and I'll be coming back to the game in the future for sure. Small break now for the builds and then onto what will likely be a small Trainz build :-)

    Edit: I will try it again when i install a GPU in my laptop, I think it's struggling a little with so much going on!

      Thanks. Couldn't be though as it's modded. What you do see though on the series is someone who at the beginning knew very little of how build within the game and got better. Hopefully that'll inspire someone.

    That is phenomenal, I only just started with Rolling Line and I didn't think anything this detailed was possible.

      It took a while to find the best way to build what I wanted but the games fairly versatile and once you learn it's tools it can be done.

    Fantastic series, really enjoyed it. In fact I was inspired to buy Rolling Line and have a go myself. I'm getting to grips with it, but by heck you make it look so damn easy lol. Time for a well earned rest I bet. Peace & joy, and have a great day.

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  Před 2 lety

      Cheers Anthony. It will take a little time getting to grips with the game (it did for me). But then you start to work out methods for doing things and it does get easier.
      Not 100% sure yet but likely a Trainz build next. But I'll take a couple of weeks off before then as I do need a rest. Having fun playing Planet Crafter right now so there'll be some of that on the channel until the next build :-)

      @@bluewizard Not much of a space game fan here, but I'll keep a look out for the odd diesel rail car episodes. The freakiest thing to happen so far to me on rolling line is I clicked on something that looked to me like some sort of back scene, but it turned out to be this ginormous white block that parked itself right in the middle of my layout table, and then I got stuck inside it, and could not move up, down, back, forth or anything, so was frantically button bashing on the whole keyboard till something happened and it threw me back away from it. But I suppose its all a matter of trying stuff, and if something isn't right, just try again. I would definitely like to see another Trainz build, even if just a small one like maybe a virtual shunting yard. I did also buy Trainz 19 a while back, just before the 22 update for an amazing £6 on steam. Don't think my laptop is cut out for it though as I decided to take a look at some of other peoples playable layouts, swear to god it took a millenium to load, and when it did, I moved the camera with my mouse and it took about 2 minutes for it to turn left two inches. I know there is probably something I can do in the settings so will look at that if I ever get the time to go back and look at it.

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  Před 2 lety

      At least you got out lol. The next Diesel Railcar will likely be on Sat. It's uploaded and so I just need to pick a day for it to air. I've been waiting for Trainz 22 to actually get past its beta stage. They said it would be fully out in March but apart from some build for their beta channel nothing new has come out. The newsletter says April but how knows. I was thinking of doing a simple multi episode build only using their new build tools to see how finished it is and frankly how usable it is. And Transport Fevers big new update comes out in early May so I'll certainly be looking at that.
      Now... I hate to say it but I just noticed Trainz 19 on Steam for under £4. The British variant strangely was around £6. So the whole game £4 or just some routes for £6. Strange pricing. But for your problem it might or might not be fixable. In the little window that opens before the game set everything to its lowest. Hopefully it'll then run and you can go from there with the settings. I remember I had to upgrade my pc when it came out. At the time I had an i5 6th gen and a GTX 1060. I seem to remember the CPU was maxed out. The bump on requirements over Tane is large. Its good and bad. It shows they actually upgraded the game unlike what they seem to have done this time which seems to be a bit of a money grab. But who knows, maybe when the final version comes out there will be some sort of actual upgrade or something new... perhaps.

      @@bluewizard I don't know all that much about graphics cards and whatchamacallits, and ive never taken a computer apart in my life. My laptop is just standard as it comes from the shop, it does have i5 7th gen that's about as much as I know. Great idea of starting at the lowest settings and increasing gradually, my only fear is it will only work on such a low setting that it makes it look more like minecraft lol. Still it was only £6, at less than the price of a couple of pints its no great financial loss. Looking forward to that Trainz build.

    Liked it NO, Loved it. Very relaxing and a great choice of music. I was rgar impressed I'm about to buy the game. I'm stuck in bed due to being disabled and I've been here for 5 + years. It's software such as this which helps stop me going stir crazy. Thank you for the video, you seem to like what I like so I'll subscribe and watch out for any new videos. Where are you in the old country? I'm in Australia, but originally from Gillingham, Kent back in 1965.

    Great layout! Appreciate all the effort gone into making it!
    As a former train driver myself, the only criticism I have are the signals [don't know if it's the game mechanics as really only seen it rarely]. I noticed that at converging junctions, both entry signals are "off" [green] and then both go to "on" [red] once the train has passed. This would never happen in real life. Is that the game or can you make it "pull off" [remaining red] on approach? Just curious. Thanks.

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  Před rokem +1

      Building the layout was fun. I'll certainly be building another at some point. The only real issue was uploading it to the workshop. You have to individually click on each and every asset you've used (it doesn't tell you so you have to guess in the menu which you've used) in order for the assets to be included in the package that others download. If you don't include everything others will have missing assets (and won't they complain lol). It's a faf to do and took a couple of hours to click on everything.
      I mention it as not everything in the game has completely been worked through yet and will need some tweaking. The AI was only added in whilst I was building the layout. About half way through the series I do an episode on what was the new feature where I just about manage to get a loco to do a run around.
      I would say AI is incomplete right now. Maybe better described as not feature complete perhaps. It's functional and as you see you can get multiple locos to run and stop but if you simply add one more loco for instance onto the top route it will immediately break and locos will crash. It took a long time to hack this together. It's great that it has the feature but it still has a long way to go.
      Obviously the signals are all part of the AI so how you see them function is how they function right now. I always say with games like this such as Trainz that the game will act like a game. It'll never act like real life. So if you build a route you have to fake it. Trainz has a few more tools to do that but when you think how young this game is and that it programmed by a single dev my hat still goes off to him.
      I'm sure more AI will be added to the game but when who knows. Still a great game 😁

      @@bluewizard Thanks for your reply.
      So if the trains can crash, could they not crash at junctions then if both signals are green?

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  Před rokem +1

      yes.
      When you place a signal it creates a red zone in front of it that you can adjust the length of. If there is a train in that zone the signal goes red, and if not it is green. The problem is if you have points within that zone it will only look down the track the points are set to and if there is a train on the other line where the points aren't set it won't see that train. This can allow 2 trains to end up in the same place and will likely cause a crash. When setting up AI you have to be very careful in your planning.
