    Here's a little introduction incase you're new here:
    Hello and welcome to The Argonauts!🐙
    My name is Tyler and I live with my boyfriend Ben on our 28ft sailboat called 'Our Choice'. We were both 22 years old when we moved onboard in August 2020! We're living on a budget and are definitely beginners when it comes to the liveaboard lifestyle... I've started making videos and posting them here so that we can share all things boat life with anyone who's interested🎬 I'm not just hoping to entertain but also to encourage others to experiment with alternative lifestyles🌊 Subscribe to follow our journey as we travel slowly around the world⛵️
    Lots of love, Tyler and Ben 🧜🏻‍♀️🧜🏼‍♂️

      Thank you! Glad you enjoy watching😁 A few people have mentioned the audio not being great😳 I'm trying to get better at keeping the volume consistent and have a camera now so content from this season will hopefully be better☺️💙

    Whats is the maximun draft in the Canal du Midi? Did you also sail Canal du Garonne, what is the max. draft in this? Maybe you can recommend some literature in English for this canals?

    • @TheArgonautsVlog
      @TheArgonautsVlog  Před rokem +1

      Hello! The French Waterways website is great for all of this information. I believe the recommended maximum draft for both of those (yes we did do the Garonne first too!) is 1.3m and the absolute max. around 1.5m or maybe 1.6m😁 We got through fine with 1.4m, often got stuck in mud when mooring at the sides though😂 Also got stuck in the middle of the basin in Toulouse... Thanks for watching, hope this helps!💙

    Just out of curiosity what type of keel do you have and what is the draught of your boat?

    • @TheArgonautsVlog
      @TheArgonautsVlog  Před 2 lety

      Hey! Our draught is 1.4m and we have a cast iron fin keel! The French Waterways website says the maximum depth for the route we took is 1.5m but they don't recommend trying it with anything over 1.3m😳 Hope this helps! Thanks so much for watching, let us know if you have anymore questions😁💙

      @@TheArgonautsVlog Thanks for your reply. So I guess my big question is did you ever touch the bottom? I'm guessing yes and that's it's pretty soft silty stuff?

    • @electrosonicnebula
      @electrosonicnebula Před 2 lety +1

      Sorry if it's in the video, I haven't had time to watch the whole thing yet.

      @TheArgonautsVlog  Před 2 lety

      @@electrosonicnebula No worries! Yes we did😂 When pulling over at the sides we often got stuck in mud and had to wiggle ourselves out again! We got stuck in the middle of the basin in Toulouse for quite a while as well so I’d recommend sticking to the edges in there. So yeah it seemed to all just be soft at the bottom and we always managed to get ourselves free😁

      @@TheArgonautsVlog the nine locks of Foncerannes at Beziers used to go down to the river orb and then barges would navigate the river south back into the canal on the other side. In the summer if it had not rained for months there would not be enough water in the river to float. In the winter sometimes there would be a storm and it would be too dangerous to navigate the rive. It was decided to cut the side of n°7 lock out and build a aquaduct and canal bridge to allow uninterrupted navigation across the river orb.How do I know this? I live on 55 ft long Dutch cruiser in Colombiers and I frequently visit Sète. However, I originate from Brixham in South Devon.

      @@romakayak That's super interesting thanks for that! We thought that the last couple of locks there looked very unused. I bet it's lovely living in the canals, Colombiers looked nice and Sète was great too! Thanks so much for watching and commenting☺💙

      Hey! So I got a notification about your comment on our most recent video but for some reason I'm not about to view the comment properly or reply to it🤔 Thought I'd reply to it here... We're not in Sète anymore no, thanks so much for the offer though! Very kind of you☺️ Again, thanks for watching!💙
