    Good review - I've owned the Prime4 for a few months now. Really like it - I haven't touched my SZ2 since getting the Prime4. You just showed me a few new features and tricks. Thnx👍 As for the internal harddrive I've been able to work around the import issues by placing new tracks or sets in a new or by updating an existing crate or playlist. That way I only need to drag and drop the updated crate or playlist into the internal harddrive. No need for a USB stick and It saves me time- no need to re-import everything all over again.

    9:07 I don't think that calling the laptop the "weak link" here is a legit point for an all in one. Because if you have a laptop, you can have a backup laptop. If you have an all in one, you still have to have a backup. All things you mentioned that may happen on a laptop may also happen on an all in one. It's basically a different form factor, nothing more. Still can run into exactly the same issues.

    Tnx for this, exactly what I needed. I'm transitioning from XDJ XZ to Prime 4, it's like the DJ equivalent of going from iPhone to Android.
    It's great to see how more & more DJs are becoming open minded to the fact that there's a whole world of innovation outside of the "Industry Standard" bubble.
    You can see the cross pollination from all the gear under the InMusic umbrella. Denon took the best of the best features from the whole catalog & rolled it up into the Prime Series. Next stop...swapping my NXS2Ks for SC6Ks.

      its always best to analyze your tracks on the new platform if your only going to use the harddrive to read only on the prime 4 as well as using it on serato. so far i haven't seen or heard complaints on this end but so far great reviews.

    Great Video - thanks a lot. You speak a fine englisch, good to understand. I subsribed and rang the bell to get more Info in the future . I also wanted to get rid of using my computer (Windows 10). I have my songs in iTunes and do dj-ing with my ipad and a wego 4K. Sorry to say I had also some trouble with it. The app was fine in the beginning but iOS has changed several times and problems began. In my opinion all-in-one could be the solution .
    Sorry to say the update of playlists via iTunes is not so easy. Incremental update does not work. Hope they will program it soon.
    Looking forward to see more of you.

    Hey Channa! I'm not surprised you love it. It seems every DJ in the US think Serato/controller is the way to go, and the Prime 4 is in every way built like a controller with a build-in computer. In Sweden and in most of Europe, where I come from, Computers and DJ software are almost only used by beginners and as soon as you're getting gigs, you get proper hardware like a used Pioneer CDJ/Mixer setup. Not very expensive and there's always used gear in prime condition to buy. Then we have the oldboys like me, who never had a reson to even think of using a computer for anything else than preparing the music. Vinyl, CD's and to USB's has been the way. I did buy the Prime 4, and it took me about 5 minutes to realize I couldn't use it. It was a total brick. It lacks CDJ-mode, RGB wave forms, the jog wheel was the worst I've ever used, too big fonts so in browsing I went back several gens, as to the first CDJ-2000 that came out 11 years ago, where I could only see half the file name, and had to wait for it to scroll to see the rest. Finding out that the whole effect section, except for the filters, doesn't work with external gear... It was one thing on top of the other... I got mine the same day the update for horizontal wave forms came out. I did the update 3 times, because the setting to get the wave forms to change weren't to be found anywhere. Half an hour later I found out on CZcams what key combo to use...
    Being a Pioneer Pro DJ user since the early/mid 90's, pro gear for DJ's doesn't work that way, ever, period. I know Denon is working to fix things, but the only thing they've fixed so far is the choice of having smaller fonts in browsing mode. The rest is what it is. Every controller DJ seems to love it, and every hardware DJ would rather pass a gig than use Denon gear. It seems Denons ''Change your rider'' is for Controller DJ's only. I got rid of my Prime 4 and got myself a used XDJ-700/DJM-450 setup in prime ;) condition for half the new price. It just works as expected and has got everything I need and then some and it was paid for in a couple of weeks. Now it's money in the bank every time I use it. For bigger events and where more money is involved I still have my NXS2 setup, but I can truly tell that it is most for show, not functionality. But as it is modular setups, I can mix gear to suite any event. Sure is that it will take some time before I even think of spending any money on Denon gear again.

Turned me off so bad I left without buying. Coming from Pioneer and even using older controllers with similair knobs at the top - just felt it was all off. No doubt the Prime 4 is a nice system. I have one. But what Channa failed to mention is the very sub-par Engine Prime software. It is HORRIBLE. If you are looking to ditch your Serato / DDJ system as I was, you might want to be sure and see how terrible Engine Prime analyzes tracks compared to Serato. Yes, you will have to re-analyze all your tracks. So if you use beat grids, be prepared to fix most of them. And Engine Prime does not allow for multiple BPM in a track. So many people are still using Serato or Rekordbox with the Prime 4 which defeats the purpose.

    • @DJDilemma1
      @DJDilemma1 Před 4 lety +1

      I can tell you as a new prime 4 owner that the software really isn't as bad as everyone says. The track analysis is now really good and its incredibly intuitive. Denon have invested heavily in the software and interface parts of their business.

      Just stupid badmouthing. Engine got much improved over the last 2 years and just a few days ago received another major update (incl flexible beatgrids). So still not perfect, but for sure not 'HORRIBLE'. Serato DJ or Rekordbox weren't perfect either in their first 2 years. All good.
