This song has my favorite guitar solo ever. Jim Heath is easily one of the most under-rated guitar players of all time. After seeing these guys live 8 times, I've never seen them play this live. I know they have (Jimbo and Jim have both told me) but I've yet to see it. Maybe by the 18th time I see them I'll get lucky.
I agree with everything you said. Somehow the solos remind you of jazz and big band combos in smoky nightclubs - just cool cats playing to appreciative audiences. Those crescendos! Scotty's tubthumping rhythms! I'd kind of decided that he didn't want to play this live because it was just too difficult, but on the 2017 tour I finally saw them do it! Album release in 2000 @ Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas, TX. Fire. Absolute FIRE! Oh, to have a time machine, and just use it for old concerts! I have seen them close to 50 times, but it did seem like this one was retired live for a long while.

I saw them play it live in Augora, Ca. Got back stage and was able to meet the Rev . Great show .
