Steffi is the standards by which other female tennis player should be judged. She was the first aggressive baseliner in WTA. Her massive FH with both feet off the ground revolutionize women's tennis. Now to be successful every player must have good FH. In terms of foot speed & athleticism she was/is unparalleled. I never seen anybody who is as fast as Steffi. She is simply the GOAT.

13 year old 7th grade dropout, stole millions from the German people by cheating on her taxes, family lacking moral fiber of any kind. Not the best at the AO, FO, W, or USO; nor the best of grass, clay, hardcourts, or carpet; nor the best at slams or tournaments overall. Not the best at any tournament anywhere, except the German open. Crazy fans willing to do anything to make her the GOAT (didn't work). The one thing we do agree upon is that her footwork was sensational. Best movement we've ever seen on a tennis court before, during, or since...female or male for that matter. Not just the raw speed, but the quick steps. I've said many times...if you want to learn how to move on a tennis court, watch a Graf point, then rewatch the point and just focus on her feet. You will be amazed by those quick steps. Repeat until you figure out how to move.

for Bartoli being short in height and fat in weight, she is definitely a better player than Steffi Graf, if you want to think so, remember YOU are brainwashing me by saying Steffi Graf is great . By your own admission, Steffi Graff, needed to be tall and lanky to win grand slams, yet Marion Bartoli who is short and fat and won Wimbledon grand slam which Kim Clijsters never won, how proud is that? Bartoli is a better player just like how she is and was and Steffi Graff is a close eight to Bartoli as per Wimbledon 2013, Bartoli won without dropping a set is a million times better than Kim Clijsters who didn’t even make it to the Final. And Marion Bartoli is already a million times better than Kim Clijsters by winning 1 Wimbledon Grand Slam. So that makes Bartoli a gazillion times better right. All this is not really true and not really false, except in YOUR mind. Steffi Graf used to drop sets.

Graf's 377 weeks of no. 1 record is spectacular. So, up until now her record hasn't been broken by any WTA player since 1997. But, novak djokovic broke her record since last year before the 26th anniversary on march, 24 as her last week of no. 1 even though WTA should never be interfered with ATP. So many inaccuracies about this video. Steffi didn't win the French Open junior title in 1984. That was won by Gabriela Sabatini. And she didn't win Wimbledon juniors the following year either, that was won by Andrea Holikova. Steffi didn't win any junior titles at the Grand Slams. Most of the pictures didn't show images from the tournaments they're talking about either. She didn't dominate "the following 2 years" after winning the Golden Grand Slam in 1988. She did in 1989, but 1990 she wasn't dominant, as Monica Seles beat her twice, Gabriela Sabatini beat her twice, and she won her only major at the start of the year. Still a good year, but her and Monica ended up very close in comparison by the year's end.

Lendl had done than 5 times & all the other legend mentioned above have done that on multiple occasions. In fact from 1993-98 Sampras had 84 losses when he finished as year end no 1. That's too much. When Sampras becomes no 1 in 1993 the likes of Edberg, Becker past their prime. Courier fell from the top quickly & Agassi lacks consistency , after 1995 he really struggle. Infact Agassi in 1997 fell to world no 141 then he was playing in challenger circuit 😂😂. If Sampras was so good then why he never wins French open or even reached final there. There was no Nadal like player to dominate on clay in 90's.🤔🤔 If Sampras was so dominate how come he only reached 18 slams finals compared to big 3 who reached over 30 slams finals. Please do not brings a bogus argument that Sampras retired at 31. FYI he literally struggled in 2001 & 2002 before he retired. So in a way Sampras was overrated because of his 14 slams. He never had an unbeaten season. His day in day out consistency was much below big 3, Borg, Lendl, Connors. Sampras finished 6 year end no 1 partially because of weak field especially after 1995 when Agassi declined. In 1996 & 1998 Sampras hardly dominate but still ranked as no 1 because there was hardly any consistence player at that time. There is no way he could achieve that feat in big 3 era or in 70's /80's. The writing was on the wall - Steffi would overtake Seles in summer 1993. Never forget that Steffi was 80-2 win/loss in the first 12 months after the Seles stabbing. Even at her peak Seles was never able to achieve such a stunning record.
The stabbing saved Seles's legacy and enables her nutty fans until this day to spread their wet dreams about Seles's alleged future dominance. "Would swept the next 5-6 Slams"?? 😂 Including Wimbledon and the USO, surfaces on which Seles NEVER beat Steffi???

Steffi won 6 slams in Seles's absence.
Two of them Wimbledons (1993 & 1995). I don't think we will have to discuss that.
One USO (1993), a fast hard court surface on which Seles never was able to beat Steffi.
One AO in 1994 when Steffi played two levels better than in the year before when Seles needed 3 sets to beat Steffi.
Two FOs (1993 & 1995) on clay where Steffi was at least as good as Seles but lost two very close finals against Seles when she (Steffi) was in a slump.
Maybe Seles would have taken away 2 slams away from Steffi (and won a few of the other 4 slams which Steffi didn't win in 1993-95)?
But it is almost certain that Steffi would have won Wimbledon 94 with Seles being in the draw.
Steffi definitely would have more than 20 slams anyway.
And since we are talking "would" - how many more slams would Steffi have won without the Graf Blackmail Scandal in 1990-92 and without her reconstructive knee surgery in 1997 (which in the end accelerated her premature retirement at age 30)? I think at least 10 more.
There is a reason why Steffi is widely regarded as the greatest ever - even by many US Americans!

@@danielkorczyk8181Marion bartoli had belief in herself that Steffi Graff as a great tennis player doesn't have even being world no.1 to win Wimbledon.
Wimbledon is a grass court tournament and therefore amongst the medium surfaces. which means medium rallies dictated by serve and therefore less exertion of energy during a point and shorter matches in general. you get value for your shot! fat and short or tall and thin!
when you play 3 sets against 5 sets for men, it is always an advantage.
Marion Bartoli played a more strategic than a grind type of tennis in tournaments. good volleying skills as compared to Steffi Graff even in execution.
Marion Bartoli had the belief that she could win and in contrast to Steffi Graff who believed that Bartoli would wear herself down and just lose(not that they don't have to play, just that they had to hang in there long enough for her to break down). Most of them slightly underestimated what she was doing in tournaments. She was an inexperienced player by that point who had proven herself as a former top 10 player.
Her winning was really a surprise i.e out of the blue with already having made the finals twice but her consistency was questionable.
She had unique two handed forehands and backhands. That was easy to replicate and master but once mastered it was going to be lethal. That was what spectators saw in tournaments of Marion Bartoli to a great extent.
at Wimbledon 2013 she had some luck from the draw as 15th seed. she never played a top 10 player en route to her victory. the finalist she played: Venus Williams had already beaten Agnieszka Radwańska en route to the final.
Venus Williams was playing her best but was probably worn out a lot by her battles with Agnieszka Radwańska and others. Venus Williams was in the form of her life but Bartoli had the luck of the draw.
Regardless of whether your fat or not, if you make your shots even Steffi Graff may not be able to return it at Wimbledon. so if you are playing near perfection and having consistency with your shots then you are playing on a level field.
then speaking of fat, technically Marion Bartoli may be classified as fat, yet she was the most successful female tennis player.
Bartoli wasn’t really playing a specific style and really had weakness in tournaments and most of her shots had some vigor in it that Steffi Graf generally doesn't necessarily have. Here return games were spot on and had more errors and more importantly she can get Steffi Graff to errors first.
all in all, this was a victory that was easily replicable or Bartoli after this mediocre run. She had belief and luck along with inexperience that allowed her to win her only Grand Slam. Marion Bartoli was dubbed as unfit and fat. She still made it to Grand Slam finals. Even in her Wembdon win 2013 she wasn’t fit. Marion Bartoli is an inspiration.
It was really a fluke because Bartoli won by dropping sets and beat a few top 20 players along the way.
Winning by dropping a set means you played really close to perfection along with dropping the level enough that allowed anyone to comeback and take a set from you.
being fat may seem a hindrance, but is a limitation if you want it to be one.
Honestly calling her fat in tournaments is really justifiable because she wasn’t thin but fat is really appropriate.
And yes, tall and lanky players like Steffi Graf don’t always win , especially in the topsy turvy women’s tour. slightly fatter players can generate more power than extremely thin and tall players like Steffi Graff.
