I personally don't have an issue with Ubisoft trying something different since the AC games were getting repetitive and stale, but they could've just made it a new IP instead of just calling them the next Assassin's Creed only to try and get more sales based on the franchise's popularity and the AC name.
But, it's possible I'm just being overly cynical.
Sabalghoo Conpletely agree! As much as I enjoyed Origins and am enjoying Odessey, it’s kinda sad that we’ll probably never see another old school assassins creed.
How can it be a new ip if it takes place in the same universe???
Nope I agree 100%
Logan Legend Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, The Crew, The Division
The same way persona became it's own ip maybe. Or just not use the same universe. If they took out the animus stuff and the assassin bits, this cold be it's own game and I think people would still play it

The people saying this isn’t an AC game are the same ones who complained to Ubisoft to change the game up after unity
exactly
Otoskire
No they're not. At least not all of them. This really isn't an AC game and I didn't complain about changing anything fundamental after Unity. Unity, while it certainly had room for improvement, was the last real AC game we had and may ever have.
I'd wager those people haven't cared about AC for years. I'm one of them and i frankly don't care to actually buy one of these games anymore.
You’re “technically” an assassin, but this game isn’t an assassin game anymore, it’s mostly fighting with a little bit of assassinations, you can’t even one shot kill people for be most part so the assassinations aren’t even assassinations just a way to cause a lot of damage. Before the game revolved around being sneaky, hiding in plain sight, killing from above and now it’s just a little sneaky then boom you’re fighting someone that has god level health. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad game, just not a game about being an assassin anymore.
People complained about Unity because it was broken af which Ubisoft abandoned with little to no patches. The game had high reviews and people wanted it to work but Ubisoft just released a broken game.
I love how they are going back further in time, we don't need to be anywhere near the age of gunpowder, also i think going to ancient china or japan for a future game could be very interesting

I think the originals will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart, but THESE THREE GAMES, ESPECIALLY ODYSSEY, were fantastic. There were some frustrating things that I agree with that you stated, but for the most part i would definitely recommend anyone who didnt really care for the originals, to give AC Odyssey a try, because they did a great job with all the different mechanics, stories and substories, abilities, and ranking system (without really giving away any spoilers). My god, i was not expecting the gameto go the direction it did, but as you go deeper into the game, it really does a great job at blowing your mind.
I havent played assassins creed since black flag..... 5 YEARS, and i played all the others on launch growing up. I saw origins last year and it looked cool but didnt pick it up. I got Odyssey on the 2nd with the three day early access and my god. I love it, it really feels like assassins creed but extremely modernized and i love the ancient Greece setting. Yeah me too. I didn't even get origins because of losing so much interest when playing unity. But this game looks so promising. Kinda like the witcher 3 but no monsters and I LOVED witcher 3
This is so helpful. I stopped at AC BF too!
It defiantly doesn't feel like an assassin's Creed, there isn't even a hidden Blade which has been a staple in every single AC game.
I'm with Rad. A Samurai-Themed Assassin's Creed would be pretty lit.
パEyepatch ghost of Tsushima, my friend. CZcams it.
I can give you the basic plot now. At the end of the game, Oda Nobunaga will be assassinated by an assassin who was one of the Ikko Ikki monks who's family got killed.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi will be a secret Templar and either himself or one of his bodyguards will have some magic precursor bullshit. Then, the Assassins will ally with Tokugawa Ieyasu, which will be the secret reason behind the betrayal at Sekigahara that led to Tokugawa's victory.
No. We need a viking/assassin theme.
How about an Assassin theme? It has turned into "different random hero in time" Creed, I feel like they should make an entirely different game that is Assassins creed and keep making what it is now. I miss having a stealth game to play just alternate them every few years so we get this new adventure formula and a new type of assassin stealth game.

Never played unity but I heard they fixed a lot
just finished the game fully yesterday, DLC and all. One of my favourites, I'm greek so how can it not be? It is very different from the older games, however, that's what makes it unique. Love what they did here, debating on getting Valhalla now, I've been a die-hard AC fan since the first.
The DLCs are the worst part about the game though.
The forced baby DLC is exceptionally awful.
And while the Atlantis DLC takes you to new areas, it takes you away from Greece, to a much less interesting place (despite being visually striking)
For me its looks empty, i m on 16 level, combat takes hours, side quest are awfull
First time i saw Hippocrates,Alkiviadis,Perekles,Herodotus...in a Game. ( Alexios has good voice acting btw )
Ακριβώς!
Do you like the greek God of War games?
The voice acting is FANTASTIC! I was so happy to see Ubisoft really paying attention to the cultural references. I've been wanting an AC based on Ancient Greece since the original AC trilogy and I'm so glad they waited to give us this gem.
How did the nerd making this vid not like Alexios' voice acting? I think he sounds fuckin great.
So do you greeks believe in cyclops,Minotaur,Medusa you know the myth
10 hours with the game so far, my impression: It's not AC anymore, that's for sure, yes you can assassinate, but only weaker enemies seem to die from it, unless you have a high stealth build. BUT it's fun as hell, if taken as a fantasy ancient greek rpg it is just great, and it's also surprisingly different from Origins, flow is just completely different, and the world just has so much depth it rivals even Witcher 3 (NOT BETTER THAN IT BY A LONGSHOT THOUGH, PLEASE DON'T HANG ME!) Quests are fun, abilities are great, combat is fast and exhilarating, it's just a great experience, I could go into more detail but I'll leave with that for now.

I have been playing this game for 87 hours now and I'm still not bored of such a big and great game.
I just hate that I can’t interchange between Alexios and Kassandra. It’s taking me twice as long to play now trying to get Alexios caught up to Kassandra and I find myself rushing through and skipping dialogue b/c it’s literally word for word the same. I like being Alexios, but I like watching Kassandra interact in the story and her voice is better - more natural less forced sounding. Feels like a character from The Last Kingdom, which is an insanely good series, better than GOT imo.
30+ hours minimum? Try 60 - 70 minimum. Game is enormous with soooooo much to do it’s insane and you get more than your money’s worth when compared to other modern games like shadow of the tomb raider which took me about 22 hours to beat. I just got it used beat it and returned it to gamestop. That’s not an option with this game if you actually want to beat it.

@Aiden Macleod sure if you have one
According to HLTB, 20 minimum. Which is good for an actual rushed Minimum.
From my experience its pretty good and at this point they should lose the "Assassins Creed" brand.
They should, because the overarching AC storyline (modern day stuff, templars vs assassins) is incredibly dumb and consistently holds the games down.
I think they are transitioning into that
i like the modern stuff although i feel like it should be more as they did with desmond, when he glitched out, or saved the world from the end xD. Also going into the places like the kolloseum with ezio when it was in its full glory and then in the modern time with desmond was a nice touch.
The modern day stuff is the best part of the darn game!
Yes, they should. I didn't care about future world shit and every time when it pops out i was waiting for magical words "I'm going back to animus". The story is great and doesn't need that kind of break in it. It's like tv commercials, it starts at best moment and it's enough to go for the beer. From patrol station. From other country.
It's 2023 and about time ppl acknowledge that odyssey is a good game. It's just not the typical old school assassin's game - and that shouldn't bother ppl so much. It's got a damn good story, damn good open world, good combat mechanics with the 3 branch build system, and a great naval battle experience. Not saying you'd play it again and again. But it's definitely worth experiencing.

To be clear. I'm not saying Black Flag, Syndicate, Origins or Odyssey are not good games. They are great for what they are. I'm just saying that the story and characters that made Assassin's Creed what it was had a pretty good, though somewhat open ended, conclusion. I feel the modern day stories that went well along side the historical stories are just tagged on and are slight after thoughts with all these new ones. I played the AC games for both gameplay and story and they've always drawn me in to the world. Now, IMO, story takes a backseat to gameplay, which if you're fine with then great.
And more importantly what is the point calling assasin to a game that you can win wiouth using stealth

Gameplay wise sure its completly different but thats Not a Bad thing. GTA V for example has completly different Gameplay than GTA 1 because the old Gameplay got outdated. And people hate F4, GTA didn't change it's still the same formula.
FF isn't popular, so they reinventing it is natural. And Skyrim compared to other TES games is the worst of them all as far as main story goes, people love Skyrim, because they can mod the living shit out of it. Without mods the hype would die before first dlc for it.
@@JoJeyGames No shit Gta V is different from 1. But it didnt change the theft and crime that makes what Gta is. AC on the other hand has lost all its roots to any Assassins vs Templar story
But the Assassins vs Templars are still a thing in this game. Just not in the Animus. Assassins are still using the Animus to find useful information from the past. Often times, both Assassins and Templars, they use the Animus to find peices of Eden. That's the way it's been since the first game. That's exactly what's going in this game too. But because the person who has the piece of Eden in the past isn't an Assassin or Templar, it's not an Assassin's Creed game? Assassin and Templars are still in the game. They're both still fighting. CenCal Stang Also, try restoring your licenses. Idk what you’re missing, but do so. Hopefully it works.
I haven't played it yet picking it up tomomrow since I'm just getting standard edition, acg review on it sold me I'm beating orgins though before
KazeKageAnthony That’s awesome. Come back to this thread and let us know if you like it or not. I sure as hell do.
I absolutely love this game. Over 120 hours played and still going
I haven't played an assassin's Creed since unity, I can't recommend this game enough, so much content and a fun story
The first time i"m actually watching before I buy
Don't buy it. The franchise is nothing more than a cash cow now, and even Ubisoft know it's dying when they're literally milking it for all it's still worth. More special editions than you can count, micros abundant, and the game is literally a carbon copy of every other Ubisoft game out there. It barely even feels like AC anymore.
For all I know, it might just be a Far Cry game with AC elements now. If you want my opinion, save your money and buy a better game in the future. If you really want to, you can just watch playthroughs of this game.
Yeah I agree, do not encourage the developers to create more microtransaction games or formula based games.
I would save the money and wait for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord to release.
Agreed but I would be encouraged to buy the Origins sequel. They did the story wrong in Origins but most of the other things were done great, Bayek was one of the best characters we have received. The reason why we should buy the Origins sequel is because the devs are evolving. The hidden ones Dlc had a decent story compared to the main game and the curse of pharos Dlc while not story focused had really intense gameplay. It's why I really like Ashrafs team, they are motivated but not perfect.
Smart move.
Me too
Odyssey looks really good to me, but i haven't played an AC game since black flag and I don't know if I'd enjoy it again. Thoughts or recommendations anyone?
If u liked to explore the world in AC4 you will like Odysee. Odysee is so good i like the setting of the world and the story is pretty good too. You have more rpg elements in the new ac some people like it some not in my opinion its a great game.
The only thing you HAVE to know is that this is NOT an Assassin's Creed game. It has the IP, but that's only for sales. It has gameplay closer to The Witcher 3. No social stealth and the hidden blades and hoods are kinda optional things that just... There... There are also multiple endings which I guess adds replay value, so it's a great buy if you're not expecting a game like AC 1, 2, Rev or Broth.
Please buy. You will enjoy it. Trust me you really will
Literally the best game since Black flag.
I buy it three days ago, now i have 20 hours of gameplay and a happy. 8/10
Really have been enjoying this game recently. Last couple weeks I have played every day for hours not realizing the time when I am done. Everything about this game is amazing. The historical accuracy with the descriptions of places. I also very much loved the Sokrates story line since it's mostly true what happened to him. There is so much in this game to enjoy that it doesn't even feel like a game!
This or Black flag?
@@angelserrano9049 This probably. Black flag doesn't have the abilities that you get in Odyssey. Also a lot of the naval combat is very much like black flag. Both are great but Odyssey is by far better.
This is one of the few games that I think is/was actually worth the AAA asking price.
i miss Ezio
Edwin H. Alexios, one of the optional main characters, is exactly like Ezios.
Still he's nit ezio
@Moogle Midgar You have terrible taste.
@Moogle Midgar I am shocked, you are the first person ever to have said that.
@Moogle Midgar That's extremely stupid words I've ever seen
Just love how I always watch these *after* I've brought the game.
Brought where?
This is my favourite AC game easily. It's gorgeous and fun. I never enjoyed the other AC games I've played. This is the most I've played an AC game and I'm 20 hours in. I expect 200 hours. So it'll probably take me a few years to finish. (I started about spring 2019) Also, I just had the first moment where I sparta kicked a bear. Awesome.
Currently playing through it. An I wish theyd take the skill tree thing a step further, its great but the assassin stuff feels like a shell. Wishing the Assassin build allowed for stylish flourishes in combat changes, perhaps peaking corner animations, as well as just more emphasis on the stealth aspect all round.
The game is actually really good
I really wish they'd just make a new ip instead of clinging to the AC title. I lost interest in the AC lore after 3. Just call this game Odyssey and go nuts.
If they didn’t call it assasins creed then people would complain that it looks too much like assassins creed games so either way they’re stuck
I agree 100% it just doesn't seem to have that original AC formula. Just make it a new ip and call it Odyssey
True. I think if it didn't have the assassin's Creed title I would be more interested and likely to buy this.
@@aslothhasnogame yeah man like if I saw this next to AC2 I would not think it was the same franchise
Syrus7sk 3 was fun
Im on 80 hours right now
the detail on history and architecture is really awesome and Im glad they didn't use too much of the "future stuff".
as someone who never play assassin's creed game, I'm loving this game
this game is better than old ass creed games. classic ass creed so boring and easy combat
and no boss too
I liked AC2 my favorite part was mining the truths and solving the puzzles but I agree the combat was easy mode.
I LOVE that you can re-skill yourself. After playing I realized I’m more stealth when I thought I’d be warrior.
I'll wait for the Ubisoft 2 months later Price drop to $29.99 like every Ubisoft title has been for past 18 months
I mean...origins is still 59.99
i found it for 29.99 on sale, this one will go to sale in at least 4 months, fun game tho
@@ManamuneAnada really over here it's 20 bones
18 months? Ubisoft's been like that for better part of a decade.
@@ieditfornoreason8523 I'm going to call my dollars "bones" now. :p
10 seconds in and I gotta say...woah. The world looks amazing, look at all those treees.
Bought this having not played the previous Assasins Creed games. Really enjoying it. Im a sucker for anything Greek/Norse/Celtic/Roman myth. I love the freedom of being able to roam about picking quests at random. Looking forward to Valhalla when this comes out.
Do the Horses Balls Shrivel up in the cold? Thats all I am here for! 😂😂
Dr Cheats On Wife that's weird af
@AnonymousPTC I guess you live under a rock?
😂😂
@@DarKBF3 😂👍
That's on rdr2
This game is amazing, couldn't stay away, first AC game i couldn't stop playing since assassin's creed 2 and this is probably better considering i was young during AC2 days
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is the best Game ever. I think it's under rated. I've started playing it again it's a lot of fun.
Best game ever is a too much overrated term,it's a great game tho.
As someone who picked this game up through Game Pass Ultimate for free in January 2023, I still can't put it down. For a game that is 4-5 years old, it doesn't feel outdated at all. I'm enjoying the game play immensely but I'm also blown away by the size of this world, and the beautiful detail that has gone into everything that we take in visually. It's been a lot of fun to play! I'm a little burned out now due to some of the game being a little grindy (lowering nation levels, trivial side quests to make sure I'm not under level, etc.), but overall still enjoying dozens of hours in. I'm currently most of the way through the Elysium storyline in the Fates DLC. Having completed the Legacy of the Hidden Blade DLC in just a few days, I'm enjoying that this one takes longer to complete. Most of all, I'm really loving the rich cultural and historic influences of greek mythology on this world and it's story. Running into characters like Hermes, Adonis, Perakles, and Socrates has been so cool and made the story that much more enjoyable! Personal favorite AC game for sure!
Honestly, I just love ancient Greece. Love the myths, so basically I love the game. And I will buy it.
i have 60+ hours in and there are lots and lots of content and they are adding more on this game
This was the first assassins creed game I played and I very easily found myself addicted and this is the game that got me hooked as I’m in ac Valhalla now
Personally I think AC Origins was the perfect assassin’s creed game minus the leveling system where a guard or something would be just a few levels higher than you and would somehow survive a hidden blade to the neck
Raul Lopez Jr ac origins was a masterpiece I still play it to this day odyssey just dosent have that spark origins does
@@A4KNetwork because AC Origins was a real AC game, for those who played the franchise till these days, Origins meant something for us, it was the origin of the brotherhood that we played through the last decade. Odyssey however, just sucks
@@manuelalves1951 I use to feel the same way but I'm actually enjoying odyssey now but as its own thing not as a ac game but orgins is way better in many aspects I'm hoping we get the best of both in Valhalla
I’m liking the game so far, can’t tell if it’s better than origins though
Fans of ancient Egypt like myself loved Origins. I like ancient Greece too but not as much but I might pick this up to try it out.
Sweeper this game is better than Origins imo way more things to do. Its like origins and black flag smashed into a beautiful game
I'm more interested in Egyptian history. But despite that, Odyssey is by far the greater game.
@@SROD_559 I haven't played origins or oddesey but I'm gonna buy both, but do I need to play them in order cuz I'm more excited for oddesey.
Yeah I’m with you. I actually liked the combat better in origins. Also, I wish the ship battles were more like black flag. I feel like there’s something missing.
Bought it on blackfriday sale and having a blast
Incredible story and gameplay
I'm currently replaying this game and I just want to say that when I first played this game I chose to play as Kassandra because of what you said about the voice acting. Hello from 2022!
POV: I watch these video while i play AC Oddysey on Game Pass.
I'm maybe one of the few intrigued by the idea of a modern day AC title. I know AC games are about the past but I think a modern day one could be fun
That ship sailed a long time ago. Plus the closer assassin's creed gets to the present the more it needs to become like a third person shooter and that shits boring
Z it’s called watch dogs
Z Think about it’s a stealth Third Person open world with a huge skill tree, parkour and it’s connected to the AC universe. In watch dogs 1 you even kill the leader of Abstergo Entertainment from AC4
nah dude, the whole modern part of AC died with desmond
I've had many ideas for a game like that. I still think it would work
The game is really good, like most AC games the story and world grow on you.
I bought an rtx 2080 xc ultra and an lg 31.5 inch 2k monitor. I bought this game to take advantage of my new gear and it looks AMAZING in 2k. I'm 12 hours into the game, and only 11% done, and my jaw is still on the floor. The world is huge, the ship battles are fun, and the game is epic. Every graphic detail is fantastic. Buy it. Get the gold edition for all the DLC.
Me who bought it and at 97 level still watching this😅
I definitely think these "Assassin's Creed" games are way off their roots. But this doesn't mean this is going to be bad as a game, it just feels less like a stealthy and more like the RPGs we are used to. My only problem with this game is the title. They could've changed it to something else and they could state that it is based on the same universe as Assassin's Creed. For me the Ezio triology contains the best AC games to date and they will stay that way until Ubi gets it together and return AC to it's roots.
Damn, you must have completed the story- the game has only come out 3 days ago and that's early release. Finish the game first lad- remember what the templar ideology is and what the creed actually represents.
I know that it actually contains an AC like story but the gameplay still lacks, I think what made AC unique was the gameplay more than anything
“Odyssey, an Assassin’s Creed Story” XD
I know, that's why I wrote AC like lol
u want rpg , then wait for witcher franchise, not change a game completely. wat happens to hard core fans? "forget about them?"
Personally i have played 20h of this game so far and i am lvl27 and damn i love this game. There is just so much to do and the side quests don’t feel like sidequests because they tell you information about your main quest or your past so i find that really awesome. They are not juqt there to provide exp they actually have a meaning
This game brought back my passion for gaming again
ViktorRev damn 27! The game is fantastic.
Damn, we're going almost at the same pace lol, I have 28hrs and I'm lvl 29
damn how do you have the time, i have a lot of work to do.
@Death Hunter 101 that's your opinion. Don't use your opinion to crap on other people. Your a straight up hater. Seems like the majority will like the game so your comment is not valid.
I miss the old AC games, with the cool parkour, emphasis on stealth, story connections to the lore and brotherhood, and the feel of a city setting, but there is a lot of cool stuff they introduced with the newer RPG AC games, Origins is even in my top 3. I really hope going forward they can find a great balance between the two, like an RPG set in and around a capital city with an Assassin story, targets, and parkour similar to Unity. Unfortunately that looks unlikely given Valhalla, but hopefully the dedicated PS5 installment next yr or 2022 will be like it.
Gotta ask. How you liking mirage? Lol
@@Broku.420 havent played it yet but it seems like a good step in the right direction
Level 72, 130 hrs in and I'm still playing.
We need ASSASSINS CREED BEYOND THE BLADE
It should take place in Japan
For real
Assassins Creed : Rising Sun would make a better name and i see Ubisoft doing Ancient China Samurai's theme first because they would just copy it from For Honor Samurai's lmao
Brandin Jay your right I just wish they would go back to the original ac this rpg style is killing me don’t get me wrong I love rpg it’s just not assassins creeds style
Ghosts of Tsushima will be out before an Assassins Japan game
@@samuelbiddison1560 It's what we get for all these CZcamsrs bitchin in the past about repetitiveness and needin to mix it up. I like the new Assassin's Creed games, but I do prefer the Ezio and Connor games pretty much when the engine started to change is when I started to get a lil bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I still liked the Burger, but realized the secret sauce had changed, if you know what I mean.
I wish they'd use this developement team and developed a new IP instead of changing so much its not AC but keeping that name to sell copies
It is AC. It's the same universe with the same backstory.
AC died with Desmond
I hate the old assassins creed games but these latest two are so much better, bought purely for the gameplay not the name
Play the game and come back and tell me the story has nothing to do with the war between the two factions. If anything this game is dripping in lore from the franchise. I mean we could just spoil it all for you and tell you what's going on or you could play the game and see how good it really is. /shrug
Paratil don't even try to call it an AC game when it does not even have Assassin's set 400 years before the first assassin the gameplay has been changed to the point its no longer the game it used to be just because it has to same name does not make it so
gameranx, I can't get enough of your content, so I subscribed!
Hey man, nice job with the review! Earned a sub. Currently installing Odyssey right after finishing Origins. Loved Origins and I am STOKED to say the least to play Odyssey. The only thing I don't like about these AC games is that the timeline is back and forth with every game they release. Odyssey is like 350 years before Origins? It's getting hard to wrap my head around.
