Almost Winter on Middle Sister & Chocorua - White Mountains, New Hampshire | NH 52 with a View

While I wasn’t feeling 100% on 11/26/23 after fighting a cold post-Thanksgiving, I felt like I had enough energy to make a day trip up north to bag Middle Sister for #48 of my New Hampshire 52 with a View. The forecast for the early part of the day looked great, clear skies, cold temps, low winds, and it was exactly that.
I was debating whether I wanted to make my way to Chocorua after Middle Sister, and my mind was easily made up once I broke treeline. It was way too beautiful of a day not to, and my energy levels were feeling decent, so onto Chocorua I went.
I admittedly forgot how freaking stunning the views are from the ridge up Chocorua and its summit. My wife Ash and I bagged this back in June 2020 with hordes of folks. Today felt much different and was much more beautiful, it’s easy to see why this peak is so popular. Can't wait to do some more exploring in the future and definitely get back for Carter Ledge and the T25!
Bagging Middle Sister made for #48 of my New Hampshire 52 with a View and now only the Baldfaces, Eagle Crag, and Eastman remain!

I mistakenly mention "Third Sister" incorrectly, this is actually "First Sister".
You may notice on trail signs "Champney Brook Trail" vs. "Champney Falls Trail", they are interchangeably used for the same trail name. It is most commonly referred to as "Champney Falls Trail", I confirmed this fact with Ken MacGray who writes the New Hampshire 52 with a View guide

Yes it was really cool seeing them all frozen and wintry, had seen them not frozen as it was June last time I was up there. Liked the frozen vibes more and also nobody there 😉 yes the weather was perfect 👌🏻 Chocorua is such a great mountain and Middle Sister and First Sister have fantastic views as well. Lots to explore! Need to get back for the T25 in the least and I’d love
to try a traverse from Ferncroft over Paugus to Chocorua sometime. The areas are connected by the Beeline trail.
