      Spoke too soon lol. A good 80% of the younger population doesn't have this much determination nor patience. But all we can do is hope that 20% will do something good. Or else were screwed

    The most impressive part is dressing the car. As anyone who has done dent repair can tell you smoothing out all those welds and small dents then polishing the whole car like that would take extreme skill

      And aluminum has about 1/3 the density of steel. Probably could have saved a lot of weight this way if that’s what he was looking to do lol

    In another post I had asked if the metal tube frame was left in place and the skin 'welded' to it. This video answered that and also commented that the sheet metal is "bonded" to the tube! THANKS!

      Stop being jealous and improve yourself. Jealousy usually points at an area you feel lacking in and really wish to fulfill, I myself struggle with jealousy and wish the people I envy could die sometimes but I can't let that darkness overtake me so together let's improve ourselves and become better human beings.

    In Italy, we can't even change the diameter of the wheel rims if that size isn't marked in the vehicle registration certificate...this is just to give you an idea!

      Or less if you add up materials and overhead and subtract from the end price then assume the sum you have left is labor costs.

      @tomcoryell how much do you think he could charge for one car? It takes as many hours for him to be satisfied with his work as it takes.
      I have a couple of jobs, one is a stonemason. Some walls, some setups and some stone allow me to male over $100 an hour at times.
      Other jobs are smaller, more awkward and in a location where they will be visually scrutinized orders of magnitude more and I am as picky and take as long in that piece as I need to...I did a job last month and I probably made $12/hr because it takes how long it takes to get it right and it was a small area. I can't charge for what I put into it but I can look it for the rest of my life and be happy with my craftsmanship.
      So back to my original question, what do you think he could be charging per vehicle/earning per hour Tom?

      AJAY K since nobody is replying, crash tests are only needed if the car is being imported from different countries, if it’s a car like this it only needs an inspection and to be registered to be road legal

      The_Appointed1 it’s safer than a motorbike, the roofless model has a head and neck guard behind it like some 1950’s sports cars so you’re not totally exposed

    I always intrigued by this question but can't find the answer on internet, so answer me this: Does your vehicle tax get reduced if you made your own vehicle instead of buying them? Would it be right if the tax get lower for something you made by your own hands?

    Absolutely epic!! But honestly, $270,000 is a bit steep.
    That is the price of a pretty decent house here in Texas.
    $175,000 seems a bit more reasonable.

      well he says it takes over 2000 hours. after the cost of the bits, I'd imagine that only works out at about $100 per hour. I know around here an average mechanic asks about $80 an hour. I think he's worth it.

    What is the best sheet steel u can use instead of aluminum, i know aluminum is soft depending on the grade which makes it much easier to manipulate??

      It's only soft if you anneal it first, which I don't think he does. I think he cold-shapes it, so it retains it's strength, which is almost as strong as steel.
