I think he was blissfully ignorant that a child may have been out there. I mean he's not stupid- he knows there's that possibility. Kaylee showing up just made it "real."

14:01 regarding Sam's accent when speaking with Scanlan... In the animated show he has a VERY slight british accent... And I would say the majority of the time on the campaign he does pretty much use his normal voice but sometimes he does accent some of his syllables in a more British way... But Sam is not an accent work voice over guy ... Just like ashley. They both pretty much use their natural accents for the majority of the roles that they have.... So by comparison Sam and Scanlan really does not sound British compared to Vax and Vex's voice actors who use like a generic fantasy British accent. So yeah he kind of has had that accent from the beginning of the campaign but it's extremely slight and only when he says certain sounds... So it's like super easy to miss and I guess Sam has something to fall back on if he does ever just completely forget to use the accent.... I can totally understand why you would be confused about this. Bc it such a MILD change to his voice.
But yeah since this scene happens pretty decently far into the campaign so all of the players have really settled into their accent work and he's just one-on-one with Matt... He's putting on the accent slightly heavier, IMO and it's potentially more noticeable since he's just one-on-one.

Scanlan (C1E99): I told [Kaylie] about all the lives I had ruined, and about the women, and about all the other Kaylies out there that I know of, and the ones that I can only assume exist.
So it seems that Scanlan does know about other children he has, and he hasn't gotten involved in their lives.
