When should you add land to a setup for tadpoles? Is it like when they first sprouting their back legs?

BenjaKnight You should add land as soon as they grow front legs. That’s when they start to develop lungs. If they don’t have land at that stage then they can drown.

Much to my surprise I discovered a tadpole colony in my unused and not maintained pool. There are hundreds of fat tadpoles swimmming around in it. Lately I have seen tiny frogs swimming around and clinging to the side of the pool. It's fairly hot out are they going to bake in the sun? Will they be able to climb out? Should I scoop them out? If so, where would I release them? There's no bodies of water around.

Hey, my two toad tadpoles have gotten bigger, as expected, but as my first time keeping tadpoles, they’re turning brownish greenish, have I misidentified them or are they still Toads?

Toad tadpoles are super tiny. Most frog tadpoles will be much larger. They are likely frog tadpoles, but I'm not an expert at identification.

Turns out they change to a translucent greenish color when there is an absence of light, when I turn it on I can see the insides.

I don't think it's cruel. It's fun, interesting and probably gives them an easier life away from predators and such! Just release them back where you found them when they are toads/frogs!

Most tadpoles wouldn’t survive in the wild that’s why we don’t have frogs all over the place. Bringing them inside and giving them the perfect conditions and then releasing them in the spot you got them from only helps them:)
