I swear, any ship that has the cajones to mount what the ancient world diplomatically refers to as "what savaged my entire navy" has earned the right to Legendary status.
Or "look at the size of that thing" she's a beast.
@Malik Mehboob man I'm not joking when I say that's the best tactic against her.
If she charges at you then you also charge at her. Use chain shot to reduce her speed so you take lower damage and brace on impact.
Now she'll turn to the side and try to run away. Instead of going for a broadside shot then fire barrel you should turn your front to face him too. Use chain shot to prevent her from escaping out of your range and ram her back. She'll attempt to pull away again. Use chain shot again then rinse and repeat.
If she escapes then you REALLY need to turn and face her ( throwing fire barrels ins the worst practice there is. ) Sometimes she will turn and shoot you with the broadside when you are ramming her back but try not to let her escape at all.
And rams are too over powered in black flag that all I do to take down a man o war is just mortar surprise, chain shot, ram , turn and heavy shot, turn and fire barrel then swivel gun. Most of the time you'll have a lead head start if you do this.

One thing Black Flag did well was making you absolutely terrified when a Legendary ship rises out of the fog and rain with lightning outlining its silhouette and this music starts playing O.O

I agree but legendary ships are bigger than the jackdaw.
It is more difficult for the Jackdaw to destroy them.
Realistically yes and no. The jackdaw is very nimble. All the legendary ships IRL would be easy to outmaneuver and overtake, but by game logic they break physics and move faster and turn harder than the jackdaw so the main advantage you have is actually just having a very talented captain and a heavily modified ship.

I’m not an expert but I’m sure ships at that size are intended to be used as a sort of trump card against whatever they are firing at. They aren’t meant to be fast or maneuverable, they just shoot a volley of like 50 cannons at once and you won’t need to outmaneuver whatever you’re hitting after that. Anything that involves artillery and beef like a blockade would be perfect uses for them

i'm saying because i dominated it at my first time after strugling against HMS prince and DAMA DEL NIEGRA
Insurrective the way I did it was with the ram, I stay to the back of the ship while ramming it and using swivel shot.
Technically you've got to basically fight fire with fire i.e. ramming and being constantly aggressive, after the update which fixed that glitch. Yeah you'll be beaten real bad and nearly destroyed as far as the Jackdaw goes, but I've took on Impoluto with all elite upgrades and the best thing I've found is to use mortars and then when Impoluto starts chasing you, chuck out fire barrels everywhere.

yeah I realized that when my underleveled ship which was like level 30 was able to chip damage off of a level 75 Battleship
I hate how fully upgraded jackdaw is like level 40-50. Should be 75 as well.
No wonder level 60 man' o wars are confident against it but lose lol.
Isn't the max level for a Brig actually is level 25? Jackdaw is the only level 45 Brig so she's powerful already.

Also when you get to use the man o war jackdaw level is shown as green meaning it is easy target to sink but Jackdaw could sink that man o war any day.
@Noah Kirsch I actually struggled the most against it. I didn't have fully upgraded Jackdaw and died 3 times because of that broadside which took away almost my entire health bar. Nearly half of my total health when I didn't brace. Ended up by ramming and shooting it from behind.
Lost once against la dama negra with not fully upgraded Jackdaw because I fucked up in the beginning so I didn't even bother. La dama negra is definitely easier because there's easier tactic to use against it.
Got fully upgraded Jackdaw for twins and El Impoluto and twins didn't even take my first health bar.
El impoluto got me to my last health bar.
When I first played Black flag I accidentally started a legendary ship battle and when I first seen the one ship with the huge ram sail towards me my blood ran cold and one thought came across my mind....

You guys don't understand, this theme is actually the Jackdaw's theme. The fact that this little ship can power through these floating cities despite them being tougher and faster warrents it's own song.
Think about it, WE are the ones hunting down the legendary ships, not the other way around.

I just decided to sail to the extreme end of the map to see what happened and suddenly, the place became foggy. couldn't see much and suddenly, this scary soundtrack played and a super giant ship appeared out of the fog. I felt like I was playing a horror game. I was playing the game at around 2am. I was the only one awake so the fear I felt was clear. lol

Do not forget that when you defeat all 4 legendary ships, you can use the charge, that can one-shot up to a level 20 brig and level 23 frigate!

Those high level frigates are devastating. One broadside volley can wipe away whole armour bars if you're not careful. The Man O wars usually do less damage (for some reason...)

They should add a DLC where a sixth legendary ship is the Silent Mary or HMS Endeavour from Pirates of the Caribbean.
It makes sense that the HMS Endeavour and The Silent Mary could be legendary ships. HMS Endeavour is a monster ship with 110 cannons. The Silent Mary was infamous for taking down fleets of fleets of pirate ships.
I had that idea myself but it was the flying Dutchman that would be best to go against because she can drive and go completely out of sight and come up somewhere else to flank you

I am 100% AC4 and I am using this to feed my urge to fight El Impoluto, since I want them to be the last challenge I face.
I want the twin ships to be my finale. Mainly because my friend said he lost to the twin ships and gave up the game, so he wanted me to get revenge.

when you are doing a last stand on a hill with your men and the enemy is slowly advancing towards you. Next thing you know, there is a storm outside and brutal melee combat emerges. Lightning strikes everywhere killing friend and foe alike. Still, you never surrender. You and 5 other men make it to a house, but that does not stop the enemy. I played Dark Souls 3, and the legendary ships of Black Flag is the nearest thing in difficulty level to DS that I played, hell, in DS with good moves and timing you could win a boss even if you have low stats, but with the legendaries if you are underleveled, well...you are fucked, plain and simple

well, hms prince was the first one i deafeted, and i found it preety hard. maybe because i wasn't fully upgraded. But against La Dama Negra and El Impoluto i did preety well, with around a third of health remaining

La Dama Negra was pretty fun, the only annoying thing being you can see where mortars are going to exactly land

Most badass song from the game right here and scared the shit out of me every time the intro started with the white and black legendary twins coming at me. I died like a million times from those god damn TWIN DEMON SHIPS. Man, hardest challenge those fckers were. The others weren't as bad.
Oddly enough, the Twin Demons weren't as harsh on me. I had enough experience under my belt that I knew what I was doing with the four Legendary Fights where I took it down in roughly 5-10 tries.
Fuck El Impoluto though, had me coming back several times.
