Why Should People Only Eat One Meal A Day?

- David Sinclair tells why he is eating only one meal a day and how it changes his life.
David Sinclair, a renowned geneticist and longevity researcher, has popularized the concept of intermittent fasting, including the "one meal a day" (OMAD) diet. This approach to eating involves consuming all of one's daily caloric intake within a single meal window, typically lasting around one hour, and fasting for the remainder of the day.
Sinclair, along with other proponents of intermittent fasting, suggests that this eating pattern may confer various health benefits, including improved metabolic health, weight management, and potentially even longevity. The theory behind OMAD is rooted in the body's response to fasting, which triggers cellular repair processes, enhances autophagy (the body's natural process of detoxification and cellular rejuvenation), and may increase production of certain longevity-promoting molecules like sirtuins.
By condensing food intake into a shorter time frame, proponents argue that OMAD can help regulate insulin levels, reduce inflammation, and promote fat burning. Additionally, some individuals find that OMAD simplifies their eating habits, making it easier to adhere to a calorie-controlled diet and avoid mindless snacking throughout the day.
However, it's important to note that OMAD may not be suitable for everyone. Individuals with certain medical conditions, such as diabetes or eating disorders, should consult with a healthcare professional before attempting any fasting regimen. Additionally, OMAD requires careful attention to nutritional intake to ensure that essential nutrients are adequately consumed within the single meal.
While some people may find success with the OMAD diet, it's essential to approach intermittent fasting, including OMAD, with caution and to prioritize overall health and well-being. As with any dietary approach, individual results may vary, and it's crucial to listen to your body's cues and adjust your eating patterns accordingly.

He is not lying at all. Eating one meal a day has changed my life drastically. I’m not bloated, I don’t feel sick, and most importantly my digestive issues have improved. I have cut out sweets and no longer crave them. I wish I would have done this sooner.
But if your young and have a hard physical job like me good luck.
Yes one meal is made me easy to control my mind and lust
Great statement. I hope it helps me with lust.
fasting draws you closer to Jesus
and help fights evil spirits because you're not feeding the flesh
😂😂😂😂😂lust
But is it possible for hard working person?
Please can u make the background music louder? I dont wanna hear Sinclair at all!
lol so good
😂
🤣🤣🤣

❤ 👍
i love omad. helps me overcome my overeating habits and obsession w food.
I agree!! It’s helped me the same way and your body gets used to it, so you’re not even hungry until the time you usually eat for the day.
@@carmenslifestylechange7346 awesome to know! i just started doing OMAD 2 months ago, and i still plan to stick to this eating pattern. weightloss isnt my goal but to have discipline over food. i am no longer always thinking what to eat and snacking multiple times a day. my cravings and brain fog gone that i have stable energy than before doing omad.
Can you explain what you eat and is supplement necessary
@@wisemansaid5009 i focus intake with organic nutrient dense and high protein diet. i avoid ultraprocessed foods. after meal i take my multivitamins. during fasting period i only drink water, unsweetend tea or black coffee. upon waking up i mix water and 1tsp salt and a powder of unflavored electrolytes it really helps with fasting headache during the first 2 weeks but now i dont feel headaches but i still take electrolytes. i love how i dont feel the urge to binge anymore coz i dont have an appetite. it's surprising how we less often need to actually eat. but i dont recommend doing OMAD if u dont have experience with fasting... try to gradually increase the intensity till u can do OMAD.
@@shnmco thank you 🙏
When I went to basic training, I didnt realize they had intermittent fasting. Dinner was 330, rarely it was past 4pm. All that exercise and stress, thrn not eating again til 7am. And this was after PT. You woke up at 430... best shape ever
Yes, in Air Force basic training, I went to bed hungry every night. I went in at a fit 165 lbs and graduated at 154 lbs.
I’ve been onboard with OMAD for a while now just because I got so sick of making food and cleaning dishes .. just happened that way but I always make a great diner.
Been doing Omad since i was a kid but i never knew what it was callwd till recently i told a doctor my metabolism is to high i cant really gain weight well he goes how's your eatting habits i said well i eat one big meal around 8 or 9:00 pm well his eyes gets big and goes why do you eat once a day well being homeless at an early age you learn really quick you don't have the luxury or eating three meals a day
Never seen and heard fasting explained better than this.
Being doing OMAD for 4 years. Best decision ever.
Did that change ur hormones any way?
How do you eat enough protein n fat on one meal
I'm a labourer and eat 5 meals a day. Burn it all everyday with physical work and sleep 8 hours straight. Libido high as can be
lol yet another "cope" trend pushed by the elites in order to mittigate the legitimate anger of the people against the failing system, rigged in favour of the masters pushing this BS

Listen to this man, he's 78 years old.
Oh bullshit, he's a fraud.
😂
Sip water all day also. One swallow every so often, regularly all day.
I have been doing the OMAD Intermittent fasting for a month now and have lost weight and feel better, look better, more energy.
Hows your muscle mass?
I'm 41 but everyone tell me I look 24 they ask my secret I never had one until today I've always done this since I was in my 20s now I know why I look younger
Nonsense. Why would people specify the age 24. This is a lie isnt it?
No
I get I'd to buy alcohol but yeah I'll understand if u don't believe me but look at people nowdays my friend doesn't look 42 I think nowdays people look younger then in old videos from the 50 60 even 70

Diabetics hate this one trick!
Explain, please.
This man is on to something
This is exactly how I eat and what I drink and will never go back to eating how we are brainwashed.
I have more energy, feel better and look younger. It’s true. Everyone should try it and see for themselves
you’re brainwashed it’s all placebo
Can you please explain what you eat and is supplements necessary?
You can do that as well and build muscles even..
Conclusion: fasting before any meal for 16hour is key been doing that for one year now, and hitting a nice healthy meal if you are gym dude before 3 hours of your training time, after training you can do the same
1-so 2 big meals if you train and hit the gym frequently and care about shape muscles and physical look.
2-One good meal with all nutritions is enough for normal healthy life style and a normal workout and works.
Many people eat 3 meals a day and still live up to their 70s,80s, and 90s....When your time is up, it is up.
What he's describing is just healthy, even if it doesn't necessarily make you live longer, it will help your energy levels, mood, and make you look better
My grandad smoked from the age of 12 to 95...you can be the healthiest person in the world and still get lung cancer out of nowhere....i agree with you what will be will be....healthy eating nonsense dont make you immune to anything
My grandma is 93 and eats bacon eggs for breakfast everyday amd all meals
I dont want to live longer at this point. This world is garbage
@@Justdoinok heard that

I do this but because i live so far from everything so being awake and getting back and forth is what takes my time.
I'm trying this. Window of meals from 3pm to 6pm. It's hard. Also avoiding sugar and anything processed.
Don’t worry it will get easy soon because it will become an habit and read atomic habit
Ya I agree with ^ it’s easy ur doing urself wonders
Give your system time, it will adapt. There's nothing better for energy levels than getting off processed or refined sugars 😊

Lol Used to it; been doing it for years and I'll eat right before I go to sleep
If u work physically then eat breakfast if u work in a cubicle then u can skip
fair
I attest, awesome guy delivered the info well
People who do this arent highly active people. Don’t listen to him if you are a boxer, hiker, runner, or anything that involves high intensity workouts.
One name. Herschel Walker. Plus many others that do IF and one meal a day.
Not true
I walk around 15km a day,I go to the gym and work out with weights for two hours every other day and do an hour cardio (treadmill/elliptical) 45-60 mins everyday and eat one meal at lunchtime(1pm) and nothing else for the other 23 and a half hours of the day…. Never been in better shape or had as much energy in years
I practice this and I do high intensity workouts almost everyday,so u clearly don't know what you're talkin about.
Source: "trust me bro"
Me as a kid n as an adult I still do because my body got use to it.
Turned phone all the way up...thanks for the subtitles otherwise I'd a heard nothing
I have used omad 1 meal a day (2 meals a day on the weekend) plus longer water fasting for 2 years and feel amazing!
Hes right 🌷
I could agree most of the concentration I believe comes from reducing brain fog by consuming less sugar
Done this all my life .im 50 but look like im in my 30s
If so, when is the optimal time to take the meal? Can somebody explain?
I haven't gotten to OMAD yet... I eat two meals per day. First meal is around 40% daily calories and second meal, 60%. I eat my first meal around 7 hours after waking up and there is a 6 hour gap between my first and second meals.
So, I do a 18 hour fast and have a 6 hour feeding window. This works very well for me but I would like to try and transition to OMAD. Only thing holding me back is that I workout around 5 hours after waking up and I feel like my body needs some nutrition after working out, why is why I eat my first, smaller meal post workout.
OMAD IS THE KEY ❤❤❤❤LESS IS MORE.
I eat from 3pm-9or 10 pm, so I might get in 2-3 meals depending how hungry that day
I agree with and its truth what he said ❤
He looks sick...bitta yellow janders 😂😂😂
weak
I have been doing this for 2-3 years now
How much do you eat
If i need 3000 calories per day . Dont listen to them
I have adhd and cant keep a consistent meal plan and my body is for sure under stress 😂😂😂😂😂 i do look very young too.
What s the name of the guy?

It is true i do it as well , its called fasting lol. Eat 1 meal per day and drink Hydrogen Water
He’s right we’re eating too much . Eat one big meal that’s it .
Im gonna hard pass on that one . I try and have like 6 meals a day
Unless you work a trade or physical
Labour….
I eat only once a day but its alot and between 12am and 3am i really dont know how true this is but i wouldn't recommend it hangry is a thing
People with hypoglycemia
TRUTH
It also works great for finances, pretend that you don't have enough to for yourself to trick tour mind to find the way to make more. Be frugal until you become rich, it only takes the discipline of a life time.
But a hard working person is it enough one meal a day?
I take 1 meal a day nd i loss weight 5 kg 7 days
I see some comments saying he might be on to something.. Maybe he's actually on something instead?
♥️♥️
For thousands of years? Like when ppl were dead by 25?
OMAD!!!!! Adom rearranged lol
I tried i almost died please don't try
Yeah I’d rather look like a happy old Italian man than grumpy and looking slightly younger. Gonna die around the same age anyway, enjoy that shit instead of being someone that has internal issues with being happy
In March this year Dr's are saying IF causes heart disease.
Makes zero sense
The dude dyes his hair, That's why he looks 30 ish.
When you have a desk job. Yeah. Its easy to do this. Try having a real job where you need the calories.
Just walk barefoot
if he is 25 i will take his advice on longevity.. the guy looks old.. but i can attest to one thing ... if you don't do any physical labour.. you don't really need breakfast.. but if you are doing anything physical ... don't even thing about skipping. u will get tired easily
Exactly right sir. The guy does nothing so he doesn’t need food often. That’s fine. He can do his extreme thing and continue looking like an old man.
can i have one meal a day and then a little salad? does that count as OMAD?
That would be 2MAD.
how would I eat 200g of protein OMAD?
You won't. That would be gluttony.
omad is essentially the same as intermittent fasting. Meaning most of your day is spent in a fasted state . Don’t eat breakfast or lunch , wait till afternoon or evening and eat a big meal and then a snack . Just be sure you’re fasting 16-18 hours a day.
Cap
try working Construction and eating like that
Eating like what? I could never go back to actually eating something while doing hard labor. I would be so tired after eating...especially when your out under the sun all day
😂
what a out if your training bodybuilding and you wanna put some muscle
It’s almost always the most bland boring and malnourished looking people that want to do restrictive diets, 5 meals a day Whole Foods prioritizing protein 30-50 grams per meal news flash 1000 years ago the ones who lived the longest were the ones that had food
That's ridiculous. Eating like that is what's wrong with people's health
lol true
That is weird, in North Korea you live in a constant fear, you eat once a day and yet the lifespan is 10 years shorter than in South Korea.
Brother… you cannot compare the west with North Korea with any factor
Exactly! Too many different factors
You Don't get decide h I w l I ng your here luck and Genetics its all pre determined.
I don't think it works bro still looks old AF
Does being poor count?😅😅😅😅😅😅
And dna 🧬 genes from your parents
This is not real longevity. This is just a little cheating technique. When he lives to 150 I will listen.
He looks old.
Ahhh this is bullshit
It’s also can be dangerous for people who have a history of say diabetes in their family. Eating like this can exacerbate the condition and cause it to get rapidly worse.
Totally inaccurate comment. Doing OMAD (and low carb/cutting out sugar) will REDUCE your risk of diabetes and other “old age” diseases
That's why Ramadhan exists...
Love Islam ❤
You love islam because there's fastung in it? Maybe you should try convert to Christianity there's fasting too, or Buddhism
Longevity here you go
BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE
JOHN 3:16

It's called going carnivore.
this has been debunked many times before, Ive even tried it, no difference. You are more conscience of what you eat and are not constantly snacking tho. If anything you will start to gain weight after 4 weeks because your body will begin to store fat as you enter survival mode
That’s just factually incorrect fasting 16-18 hours a day is completely fine and as long as your close to or at caloric bmr , you won’t enter starvation. Thay happens after being in an extreme calorie deficit.
Hey look, another person peddling a bullshit scheme as some kind of magic fix lmao
What’s the scheme ? eating less ? 😂 There’s proven science behind what he’s explaining. He never said it’s a fix for anything either ,just that it helps defend against aging . Which is does . But hey i wake up and need to baselessly hate on shit too sometimes
Still looking like an old man 😂😂
