    TMK singing in his inimitable style, taking his accompanists where they have never been before. He expended so much energy and bhakti (yes!) into creating a beauty, which we didn't know would be possible, that only his passion could have seen him through to the end. He must have been exhausted. This surely is a definitive Brindavana Saranga and, indeed, one the finest exhibition of masterful singing - ever!

      For this reason, i wish he would just pursue his music, and leave the world to itself.
      I may sound selfish, but i don't want to lose a consummate artist for an activist. The world has enough of the latter.
      TMK's best contribution to the world may still be the accomplishments he is yet to achieve in music itself.
      He could start a music school where he could teach ALL those he feels were denied access to Carnatic Music. He might make history as the biggest contributer to BOTH music as well as the 'denied.'
      To reach out to others, he need not have to *decry the Brahmins* who nurtured this music form through the centuries, with their austerity , and preserved it in all its pristineness, so that a TMK could pursue it in the 21st Century.

    This Muthuswamy Dikshitar Krithi is undoubtedly the toughest composition I have ever heard in Brindavana Saaranga. I hv been listening to this great Composition in MS Amma's voice since my age of 8. I hv only seen most of the singers taking painstaking efforts in rendering this Krithi to near perfection. And TMK too has put his heart & soul into this tough Composition to bring out the soul of the devotion with great depth. The rendition shows his hard work & rigorous practise and his very sincere attempt to bring out his best that certainly touched our heart. Especially, it's very difficult to hold the breath for too long when one sings at a relaxed pace and keeps on exploring the beauty of the Raaga seamlesly. Great!

      @Shreyas K MS has sung it the way Dikshitar has composed it and meant for it to be sung. Not to forget that MS was very adept in kala/laya - her mastery of the tala and mridangam(yes she was a very competent mridangist as her peers have said) is too well known - how she sings it is the way it should be sung technically, vocally and emotionally - this singer's version lacks in bhava and bhakthi… and sounds very artificial in this overly vilambit/slow kala... does not do justice to its creator...that is why more than 4 or 5 respondents in this box agree that her version is the best...and that is true about every composition that she has presented... tho you/we are free to hold your opinion...

    • @VighneshHampapura
      @VighneshHampapura Před 4 lety

      @@jayap3557 Oh I love MS Amma's version no doubt. But the only reason for someone to pick one version over another would be preference, really. I think it's unfair to say that is how it MUST be sung. For all we know, in fact, Dikshitar's kritis - most of them - need to sung in the vilamaba kala: they are called 'vilamba kala kritis' for a reason.

    • @jayap3557
      @jayap3557 Před 4 lety

      @@VighneshHampapura and Shreya I agree re. personal preferences. Sure those who prefer this version can hold it in their esteem. What I miss in all non-MS Amma renditions of the Sri Rangapura Vihara for starters - is the opening Ramanujacharya virachit shloka paying obeisance to the 4 Ranganatha kshetras… MS (on her composer's advice) has managed to segue it to the start of the main kriti so wonderfully in the later renditions - incidentally this may not have been part of her initial presentations of this kriti - her command over the stage, audiences and her own talent is incredible... indeed as they have said "born to sing". As for her vilambit presentations - listen to her version of another Dikshitar gem - Akhilandeswari (dwijavanthi) to realize what should be sung in vilambit/chowka kala - and what should not be sung - Sri rangapura in my humble opinion does not feel like an emotion that should be sung so slow...that's all...otherwise why should small humans like me hold a candle to the great(est) musician of my times …. :-)

    What a melodious, divine rendering of Brindavana Saranga composition of Deekshithar. Vid MS Amma and Vid MLV used to render this in Sheshadri puram High School during the 1960s almost as the last rendering of the kacheri. Virtually everyone would be waiting to listen to Ranga Pura Vihara. Great. Hail VTMK.

    Vilambit style of rendition makes TMK stand out in carnatic music...it give listeners chance to enjoy the Raaga along with the musician while he immerses himself in exploring it ..and I suppose it's not easy at all... Excellent TMK....

The sweetest SONGS are those that tell us the saddest moments “ Thanks to Sri TM M Krishna for bringing Sri Ranganatha in all our hearts for that 16 mts. Blessings to you Sri TMK. Interestingly Mr. Krishna feels "gods" and "goddesses" have taken over Carnatic music and its too "Brahminical" - so yeah, music of the great trinity is without bhava or bhakti but mere musical wizardry for him. Not my cup of tea. Not sure why he sings "brahminical" music filled with "too much of religion" - which he blabbers in every interview. I stopped attending concerts by him long time ago because disrespect to Sri Dikshitar is not something I will tolerate
