"A car honking can be interpreted in several different ways"
Camino De Santiago Day 44: Arzúa to A Salceda, Spain
    11 km (6.835 miles)
A car honking can be interpreted in several different ways. It could mean you cut someone off in traffic. Maybe you need to get in the car pronto. Or, if you're like our family, it's our way of saying, "Goodbye, we love you" while driving away.
It could also mean the pan man has arrived. After being in Spain for a month and a half ourselves, it's exciting to know that fresh bread is out for delivery!! We hear that honk and instantly think, "BREAD!!"
The morning breakfast did not disappoint. Huevos revueltos, jamon, queso, tomate, and fresh pan. Any distraction from my body aches is much appreciated.
We've been leaving later in the mornings this past week. The closer we get to the finish line, the lazier our morning routine has become. We headed out the door at about 9:40 am enjoying the cool morning air and sunshine.
Today felt much like a pub crawl. If there was an open cafe/bar, we stopped. If there was Sangria to be had, it was had. I could handle only short spurts of walking before needing to sit and relax my leg. But I did handle it. It just took triple the time it normally would.
Andre has been a trooper dealing with all my ailments. I also don't think he minded frequent cerveza stops.
Towards the end of the day, we reached a biergarten covered in empty cerveza bottles adorned with pilgrim artwork. We consumed and decorated our own and we also met a fun, lively group of pilgrims singing where we joined into the Beatles "Hey Jude." Another pilgrim sitting separately approached us while leaving with 2 cervezas stating, "You guys need to enjoy another." We obliged.
When we reached our casa it was hot and we were starving. Our calories for the day were all in liquid form. Besides breakfast, we realized we had nothing substantial to eat all day.
Our plan was to shower and start laundry, then head to the restaurant on the 1st floor and consume actual food. Our plan failed. Instead we fell asleep, finally waking up at 8:30 pm from hunger pains.
I took a lightening speed shower and we headed downstairs where we inhaled hot, delicious lasagna and scallops.
Our place for the evening was hardly a town. Just a few albergues and 1-2 restaurants really. But it was exactly what we needed to persuade us to return back to bed after a facetime call with our son and daughter-in-law. The woman helping us check-in also taught me a few new Spanish words. I learned that caliente means hot as in a food that is hot and calor means heat as in the temperature outside.
Much like a car honking, my pain in my leg continues to "honk" as well. A reminder that I will just need to take it slow these last few days. And take frequent breaks. That may or may not involve muchas sangrías!!
    Hasta mañana, salud!!

The bottle place was awesome! When I rolled in, there had to be at least 50 people there, loud music being played, dancing, etc. A very festive location, because the finish line draws near :) Thanks again guys!

Unfortunately..still hurting. I am currently in pain management and doing PT.. hoping to make a full recovery eventually so I can hike again. I would have never kept hiking if I wasn't on the Camino. 🚶‍♀️🚶

What is the 8 is about?

Hi Bonnie, the "8" is my family (kids, hubby) of 4 and my twin sister's family of 4. We were always celebrating and making memories together when she was alive, so it was always the 8 of us. So now, we refer to ourselves as the "8". My rock at Cruz De Ferro was painted with the number 8. But I'm not sure I made that clear on my videos. Thank you for asking and Buen Camino!! 🚶‍♀️🚶
