- The British Royal Navy has become a royal laughing stock. For the second time in a row, it has failed to successfully test-fire the Trident II nuclear missiles. These missiles are supposed to guard the UK should an enemy attack the country, but the British Navy does not seem to be able to figure out how to fire the missiles from its nuclear submarines.

In any case, the fact is you stated a falsehood. You stated that neither of the carriers could leave port to take part in NATO exercises. The Prince of Wales is out there right now as the flagship of those exercises having taken a mere 9 days to get ready for an unexpected short notice deployment instead of an expected 30 days. That should tell you something about the professionalism and adaptability of the Royal Navy and any enemy that took a few high profile equipment failures to mean that the Navy could not respond to a threat quickly if required would be taking a high risk bet.

It is embarrassing at the highest level. Remember the UK has a permanent seat at the the UN Security Council. In comparison, its neighbor France routinely succesfully tests its submarines own developped M51 nuclear Ballistic Missiles as you can check on wikipedia and youtube. To add insult to the injury, France also just successfully tested its new missile generation back in November 2023 from its Biscarosse test site. Until further evidence, it looks as if only the French and the American are able to provide nuclear deterrence to Europe as of now. This is scarry. And if I was an australian tapayer, I would be worried I am taken on a ride.
