This game is everything I wished Disney's Pinnochio was, but in game form.
It was weird when he showed his mothers autopsy report to prove he beat the game
2:58 - The P doesn't actually stand for Pinocchio, it's the symbol used for blood in Korean (where the development studio is based). The character you play as is "Gepeto's puppet" or "Carlo". Though yeah, the characters are based off the Pinocchio book.

It does disappoint me how everybody thinks of Disney's Pinocchio whenever you say the name. The Original story is far darker and really fun to read. It wasn't a story for just kids. It was originally supposed to end with Pinocchio being robbed and hung on a tree, left to slowly suffocate while thinking about his selfish actions.
Aren't most fairy tales Disney is based on really dark?
@@atomosdaemon yea pretty much. But the book did have a good message in it and the new ending Carlo added was pretty great. Compared to Disney's the story doesn't focus on his nose nor Jiminy. In fact the cricket only shows up 3 times in the whole book. Pinocchio killed him with a hammer upon first meeting him.
@@bleachpong sometimes when I working on the pc I leave the second screen to play some audio books/manga recaps, and one of these times they I've listen to some of the Brothers Grimm versions of the stories... It's like if the new Disney's live action remakes meets Game of Thrones

@@FlashinGatznCookies yeah, that's not the ending my guy. It was supposed to be until people begged Carlo to add more chapters because they liked the character and felt bad for Pinocchio. Reread stuff before commenting I clearly said "originally"
I look forward to giving this game a go sometime. I also wanted to say that Pinocchio is not a "fairy tale" it does have some of those elements, but the original works are classified as fictional novel, with the angle of a fable as well.
This game is great! I fully enjoy it.
Its really funny that of all the Pinocchio themed media to come out in the past few years, the Disney remake is close to the bottom
This was easily my game of the year. I did 3 back-to-back playthroughs to get all the achievements, and loved every second of it.

As someone who is a regular gamer since ~1996, I have to say, 2023 is one of if not the best year in terms of new game releases I have witnessed so far. One amazing title after another.

I managed to platinum this game when i did, it was hard at the end of the NG+ run, and i managed to get two of the endings using the PS4 save function to get two of them, but the game was a blast and i really hope we get DLC for this.
as soon as this goes on sale I will be picking it up, looks like a lot of fun

The "P" in Lies of P actually stands for multiple things. Pinocchio was actually never said in this game in any way. The P could actually be Pistris, or more likely, Philippus Paracelsus.

It is amazing to see an entire genre of games, Souls like, be expanded and evolved into something amazing.

Game feels fantastic. Ive beaten most of the soulslikes out there, and I never felt the desire to experiment with builds immediately after credits like I did this game. I even have a max level character.
I have been plaything through this game and really enjoy the game despite not being to into the Souls style of games. I also love the music in this game so much I'd just play the tracks I had found in the game long after I'd already listened to them once to make it's effect on P go off the first time.

Lies of P has consistently tugged at my attention in the back of my head, making me want to give it a try, after enjoying the various Souls-like titles I've run through over the years, though the lack of hardware strong enough to properly run it has kept me from giving it a chance up until now. I admit, I've always personally loved playing spell casters in the Souls games proper, but I can't deny the appeal of a good big heavy beating stick, to smash enemies into the dirt, so it's rather intriguing to hear just how customizable the weapons in Lies of P are. Knowing it's a bit more on-rails than the usual Souls title also is admittedly a bit appealing for me, as I'm personally prone to getting lost in the cryptic worlds of the mainline titles, where I inevitably have to pull up a guide here and there to make sure I'm not blindly running into a wall, and making no progress for hours on end as a result. All in all, this one certainly looks like a title I'd likely have a good time with, and I'll definitely have to give it a shot at some point. Great review as always, Jirard. Looking forward to the next one my guy.
Loved this game so much that it was one of my few Platinums. However it's not confirmed that P stands of Pinocchio. It's most likely Lies of Paracelsus.
I’m so bad at playing souls-like games but luckily Dodger played the entire game and I love her play-through. The story is pretty cool, art is amazing, beautiful and creepy all at the same time 👏

The P in lies of P isnt for Pinnochi its for Paracelsus. And the Puppet was the Tin man. He was never called Pinnochi.
The painting of him literally grows a long nose, and so does the loading screen...

Alan Wake 2 clears easily for me, We Sing/Dark Ocean Summoning are easily the best gaming moments in the last 5 years
Complete it on a soulsborne game is pretty rare. Il definitely check this out at some point

I played through it and thought it was great except the leveldesign of the last area. The other negative i found was mainly that the levels are not really explorable and very streamlined/tubelike. Still it was great, it also introduces some game mechanics that makes it different enough from the Souls games.

Are you going to do Code Vein and/or Wo Long Fallen Dynasty? I think those Soulslike games are a little more forgiving than Dark Souls.

Probably will, but that’s gonna be awhile from now since that completion is a grind fest.
I just spent 110 hours on rebirth and i have yet to complete late game and post game stuff. That ones gonna be a while. Games great and massive to boot

Spoiler Story Rant for Jirards absolutely silly thought that you need to read items/ watch lore shows to get the plot of lies of P. how do you not understand the story of lies of P after three playthroughs? the game outright tells you whats going on why its happening and i never needed to read the item descriptions to understand it. Ergo the Crystal that brings puppets to life and basically functions as both brain and powersource for these puppets. is actually the spirit of dead humans who have died from the petrification disease. (i Think its also implied to be useable as a Gas or the spirits natural form i guess or maybe the Crystal is just an echo of that person actual soul either way a lot of people dying means more Ergo running around) its why some puppets feel more than others show love and empathy because they have been given human souls. This is not the cause of the puppet frenzy though. the puppet frenzy was unleashed by Gippeto because he needed a vast quantity of Ergo and Arm of the Angel(a relic from a possible real angel that died on earth and its arm has massive amount of Ergo.) in order to do a ritual to revive his son carlose who he lost to the petrification disease a long time ago.(the Puppet you play is a direct copy of Carloses form but its implied that like most puppets you gained a soul of your own through your own choices, and because Gippeto made you free specifically You can defy hime) The Alchemists also want to massive amounts of Ergo to create a new god/ next step in evolution and The Petrification disease sometimes reacts differently with people instead of turning them to stone they evolve into other things.
all of this is just told to the player in various cut scenes i dont think you need to watch any videos or read any item descriptions.
This game was awesome, definitely a personal favorite of mine.

my favorite soulsborn series is nioh and back when the first one came out i tried to go back to dark souls 3 to complete it but it just felt so clunky and awful after playing nioh
