Eric Roberts hugely underrated..... 1000 times more talent than his sister in my humble opinion.

Eric got better and better with age. He was underrated in his beginning roles. He's always been gorgeous and sexy too. Way better an actor than his sister. Glad he's a HUGE animal lover and Vegan too. Hope he lives over age 100!!

Obviously the “They took my thumb Charlie” scene is iconic, but this is Eric’s best scene in the film. He sells fear and terror like nobody else. I genuinely feel awful for him here, after he spent the past hour being super abrasive (in character, not as an actor.) It’s a masterclass in acting.

Disturbing, in that "Uncle Pete" appears to feel sad for "Pauley," yet, as a "made" guy, Pete's first loyalty is to the mob.

If not for Uncle Pete Pauley would have been sleeping with the fishes. Uncle Pete was his saving grace. Pauley losing his thumb was small potatoes compared to the alternative (either life on the run or instant, brutal death!).
And granted Bed Bug Eddie Grant was quite a few levels below the West Side Irish gang (the Westies!), the DeMeo Crew & the 116th Street outfit in terms of sheer viciousness & ruthlessness yet as a leading Capo in the Genovese Family of that era he was still a man to be greatly feared, not one to be taken lightly. Just the opposite.
Pauley got off somewhat easy IMHO, though that doesn't mean that I wouldn't feel for him in real life. Thank God for Uncle Pete!

I know that he screamed "UNCLE PETE" when they started cutting his thumb off but when I first saw this movie I was a kid and I thought he screamed TACO PEE!!!! I couldn't figure out why anyone would say something like that.

I always felt Eric Robert's really overreacted this part. All the acting in this movie honestly was a bit dramatic in that way. It felt like they were paying homage to that 1950s theater style but it was made in the 80s so it just feels out of place.

Eric was supposed to be high strung and a little bit "slow", so in that aspect, I think he nailed it. He didn't fully understand what he was involved in until it was too late. And Mickey Rourke I thought was freakin brilliant in this movie.
