As a swede i can say that IKEA is our revenge for the empire we lost in 1721. We couldn't dominate the battlefields anymore so we decided to low-key terrorize people with our weird screws and hex-keys instead, MUAHAHAHA!
A shame that Youp is always using the Lord's name in vain.

Thanks to this sketch by YOUp, I have developed a step-by-step plan for dealing with IKEA furniture. 1. Go through the manual and check if YOU completely understand it. (If not, consult YOUTube) Discuss the manual with the person who is helping YOU. 2. Check if YOU have all the screws (look carefully to see if they exactly match the picture). 3. Check if YOU have all the planks (pay close attention to the holes). 4. Lay everything out in the correct order. 5. Only now do YOU start. Another tip: when I met my husband I dragged him to IKEA as a test. When he passed I bought a closet which we assembled together. When he also passed that test it was time for the final test: visiting IKEA with his mother in law. We are happily married 😊

Hes playing a rich guy with a rich mans accent and behaviour and hes ashamed to buy a bunk bed that his kids want. Just for the peeps that dont understand it :)
This is actually his first claim to fame. The bit that made him famous. Flappy and Buckler beer is later.... The beautiful thing is, that this is 1996, and the exact text is still 100 % aplicable! 🤣
Bunk beds made me think of this - there's a Home Free video called "Natemares". In it Tim Foust (who's a great story teller by the way) tells a story about something that happened on their tour bus - it's funny as hell. I don't know if you've watched any of the "Story Time with Tim" videos but I know you'd get a laugh out of them.
For the viewers who don't speak dutch I'd like to clarify one thing in the video. In dutch, as in many languages, there is a difference between "you"s. In Dutch "jij" is the informal you used for friends, coworkers and basically people of your age and younger even if you don't know them. "U" is used as the more respectful or honorific variation of "you". Traditionally used for pastors, doctors, teachers, police and other people in respected jobs. It's also used for grandparents, parents and other people older than you, especially if you don't know them.
Sadly Youp forgot about 1 little detail.

To understand why Youp is annoyed by the way the IKEA leaflets and personel talk to him, you need to know that the Dutch language has two kinds of "you": When you adress a friend, an equal or a kid, you say "jij" (informal). When you adress a superior, an elder or someone you have a professional relationship with, you say "u" (formal). Traditionally, shop personel adress customers with "u", but the IKEA people use "jij". This to create an informal, let's be buddies, atmosphere. However, it pisses off many of the older Dutch people.
