  • This is a quick tutorial on setting up a Zoom board room or webinar using a Mackie ProFx10v3 or ProFx6v3 and running everything through a laptop. You can then stream that live to CZcams if you need through Zoom. This method works quite well and allows for direct CZcams streaming with Zooms built in encoder.

    Helpful video and everyone’s comments. I am also not able to hear our participants. My setup is similar to yours as follows: Zoom conference & Spotify on an IMac, connected to a Mackie Profx12v3 via usb with the 3/4 button activated ON. Mics plugged into channels 1 & 2 which we can hear just fine through the main speakers as well as in the Zoom room. Main speakers connected via main outs which we can hear mics and Spotify just fine. I’ve noticed that your pc driver update provides you with a couple of channel options which the iMac does not and this is where I feel the issue lies since Mac does not need any driver updates. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this lengthy comment. Dave

      Hi Dave, sorry for the late reply... I was in Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Marathon... (no, I didn't run). I would definitely temporarily swap in a PC just to see if it changes your setup. But either way you'll want to ensure that Zoom is setup to have the audio out going to the USB and not the laptop speakers. You can set that under the microphone/audio settings in Zoom and usually it will let you select the audio-in and audio-out settings there.

    Great video. Thank you. I am looking to do something similar. Quick question - Do the in-room mics also feed through the speakers? Is it possible to route only the remote zoom participants through the speakers in the conference room, and that the microphones that cover the in-room participants ONLY route out over the USB to the Computer/Zoom meeting, and NOT into the speakers in the room?

      Yes, I currently have the room mics running through the mixer/sound system in the room. It makes it easier for everyone present in the room to hear the presenters. What you're asking for could be difficult though. At least with the 12-channel mixer in this video. It could theoretically be possible with the DL32R that I used in the larger room video I posted previously. czcams.com/video/G7wVb__ZSn4/video.html You could use the advanced features of that to send individual channels to specific USB mapped ports and only have their audio going into the laptop/zoom room. The primary issue with that would be your presenters would not use the mics since they wouldn't hear themselves and forget they were on. Another draw back is your presenters would forget they were there and could potentially say something inappropriate not realizing everyone on the zoom side could hear them. The nice thing about this setup though is that there is no feedback at all so there is no need to worry about that if you're have presenter mic-pickups running through your sound system.

    Your setup seems off to me. USB 3/4 being fed into channel 9/10 will end up fed back INTO zoom, which will definitely cause a terrible echo for anyone that speaks on Zoom. Maybe zoom can do some echo cancelation, but you shouldn't be creating an echo to start with. The solution is to use a Mix Minus. You can do this with the FX Send on the mixer. Or y ou can do it with USB1/2 instead.
    With USB 1/2 what you would do is this:
    Select USB 1/2 as your speaker in zoom.
    Run a cable from the Control Room output on the mixer to your amp/speakers in the room. Use the control room knob to control the volume of these speakers.
    Press the "To Phones/CR" button on the mixer
    Dial the BLEND knob to about the middle.
    Now Zoom will not have an echo at all because the callers will not be fed back into the input. You can control the balance of Zoom callers to in-room mics with the Blend knob. Turn more towards USB to hear more of the zoom callers. Turn the other way to hear more of the in-room audio sources.
    The FX Send method gives you more control, but I'll stop here for now. Best of luck with your setup.

      Nope, it works great. We've used it many times. Zoom does have automatic anti-feedback built into it as well. But we've never had any problems. The ProFX 10v3 is a bit limited with its USB inputs and outputs as well. I'm not sure it can even do what you describe, but the 32 channel Mackie can. I have another video where I describe how to use that.

      @@masterofnone8065 I wasn't implying your setup didn't work. I was saying that you are just lucky it works because of Zoom's echo cancelation. I would encourage you to read about a mix minus and give it a try. It's a fundamental broadcast/presentation technique.
      Brian.

      @@briangentry3118 I was looking for this too. I like your CR technique. I was also considering the ProFX12v3's submix (submix as full mix and main mix as mix-minus).

      @briangentry3118 Před 2 lety

      @@JohnDKoch I think that will work. Since the SUB 1/2 has it's own stereo out it's a different internal path that you can do things like this with. On the ProFX10V3 I have used the FX OUT for this purpose, making it a mix minus. The SUB out is nicer because it's stereo.
      Good luck!
