What kind of messed up person intentionally gives a child a disease and then expects everyone to be GRATEFUL? I mean, that's a level of entitlement that's borderline insane. @@grimaria1999 True enough, but the vaccine / anti-vaxxer "debate" does make it extremely easy to identify who some of the entitled parents are. Of course not all entitled parents are antivaxxers (though it's probably true to say that most are), but every anti-vaxxer parent is inherently entitled. Not only that, but any parent who denies vaccinations to their own kids (without a bona fide medical justification) is guilty of child abuse. The term "anti-vaxxer" is far too mild and not quite accurate: It should be referred to as "disease enabling", because that's the reality of the anti-vaxxer position, regardless of any "rationalisations" they invent to suit their beliefs.

Please don't cover r/raisedbynarcissists. It's a support sub, not a humour sub, and they don't like people posting the stories elsewhere as it can lead to the OPs being harassed in real life.
(I commented this below, but feel I need to post it here as well for those scrolling by. I'm horrified by some of the responses.)
No, it's not the forbidden apple, and you are insensitive if you think the sub exists to provide you with lulz. To give you an idea of what the sub consists of, it's children who are grieving the loss of abusive parents, their rapists and all manner of things. Sure, they laugh at their abusers sometimes but that is a way to COPE. They laugh at the insanity of what they have survived.
Their sub, like many others, has been shut down by the media being predatory and ripping the information right from it. It is not right to take their abuse and turn it into content for your channel. It baffles me that this can even cross your mind. Is it a public forum? Yes, they post it there to be seen by people who are in a similar boat. Not for it to be seen by people who want to get kicks out of it.
I have been on the sub before, none of the OPs would agree to it. It's a deeply personal situation a lot of the time, not a recounting of funny stories. It's not a sub there for your entertainment, it is there to provide help to people in their most vulnerable hours.
"They might not like it, but they can't stop it."
They can stop it by internalising all of the upset that comes from their abuse and never speaking out.
I apologise if this comes off as heated, but I'm not ok with us turning peoples abuse into content. Abuse is not content, and never will be.
r/raisedbynarcissists isn't like r/entitledparents. Please leave them alone.

Early childhood professional here; when it comes to rules regarding chickenpox (at least in my province), we don’t send a kid with chickenpox marks home right away, unless they’re too sick to participate, and then they’re expected to stay home until they’re healed. This is because chickenpox is the most contagious up to two days before the rash appears.
So while we might isolate and/or immediately call parents to pick their child up with other illnesses, we don’t necessarily do so if we see pox marks; because all the other kids in the room have probably already caught it a few days ago (if they haven’t had it yet, or not been vaccinated).
Yes, I agree that no parent should force a kid covered with itchy, crusty blisters to go to school. This is just explaining why the principal probably wasn’t immediately concerned.
As for the kids who immediately started itching after he came in; that’s a natural, psychological response to seeing an illness that causes severe itching. It kinda gets into your head. Either that, or they’d caught the pox from the kid earlier and were just starting to blister.

  • @jonu8537
    @jonu8537 Před 5 lety +1

Here's the thing: I live in a rather small, Northern European country. We don't vaccinate children against chicken pox, unless they have a family history of having severe consequenses of going through the disease. The country where I live in it is actually encoraged to get children infected with chicken pox because after you've had it once you develop an immunity against the disease (in most cases about 95% of them). Children endure chicken pox rather well, only having slight fever and itching marks, where as in adult cases it can be lethal (fever goes so high it causes damage, throat swells so much you can't breath etc.). So vaccination against chicken pox can be a bit over protective in most cases. But yet again, I don't know what kind of bacterial-, immune- or vaccination system people have espescially in the US or other countries. I'm deffinetly not an anti-vacciner, but I do think that some vaccines are necessary and some are not.

For the kid with the chicken pox, they actually were already too late. Chicken pox is contagious BEFORE the spots appear. The kid had chicken pox before the spots appeared, and therefor spread it to the rest of the class before they had the chance to do anything about it. No one else was in any danger once the spots appeared.

When I was in kindergarten in 1987, everyone just had to get chicken pox. There was no vaccine then. You got it, then you never got it again. I barely remember having it, as I was only 5 when I got it, and my nurse's aide mom did everything possible to keep me from itching too much. (Oatmeal baths, calamine lotion, etc)

It is better to get chicken pox when you're younger tho ngl

One guy called a plumber to fix something in his house. And he asked the plumber if he ever had the rubella, because the guy's kid had it at that time. Rubella is a disease that one can have only once in a life, and after the first time you develop the immunity to it. In younger age rubella goes easy and has no complications, but if you caught it in grown up age it could be tough and really dangerous. So, the plumber said that he is already immune to rubella. But he came with his 4 kids to get them infected, so that they surely go through this while they are little.

My school, about 360 kids, in 2016, had a stomach bug mini epidemic school wide. It started with the kindergarteners, soon we only had 3 kindergarten left in the whole school, then the grade 1..... and so on. Here are the final numbers at the end of the first day:
    Kindergarteners: 3
    Grade 1: 7
Grade 2: 2 (myself and my best friend)
    Grade 3: 0
    Grade 4: 4
    Grade 5: 7
    Grade 6: 5
    Grade 7: 4
The next day there was only 32 students in the WHOLE school left. The school then sent out and email that all parents should get there kid(s) vaccinated after seeing how fast the sickness spread. Later that year there was another outbreak (still within our school) and a lot of kids didn't get sick. Each class had at least 15 kids out of 30 or 25 fornthe primaries.
The only people that got sick were the ones who didnt get vaccinated as the stomach bug also came with severe vomiting, stomach aches, strep throat, aching muscles, migraines, fevers, and the flu which was the worst part that made it so horrible and the school demand vaccinations. Preventable. I was vaccinated the first time it happened and was also vaccinated for other things. Those who weren't vaccinated were not allowed to come back to school until they did. One kid didn't come back for a month and a half because she was so entitled she thought she didn't need to and showed up the next day and was sent home. Her parents forced to to get vaccinated to go back to school or else the school said she'd have to do grade 2 again because she would have missed so much school.
