  • Changing the filter in my Dyson CY22 Big Ball Animal Pro, or something like that. What a name huh?
    Anyway, turns out the old Dyson actually has a secret filter inside it. and its something that is well worth replacing, or at the very least cleaning once in a while.
    So I was about to throw this zillion dollar vacuum away, its a Dyson so it's filterless, and great. Now come to think of it, its bagless, and perhaps it was never really sold as filterless but it is the best right?. Well it was for a while, then it kinda sucked, or didnt suck. And it left the room full of dusty air. So much for the fancy cyclone thingys. What does HEPA even mean anyway.
    It sure does have a filter, and mine was stuffed. Time to replace this Dyson filter but Dyson wont sell me one. Mendit.co.nz to the rescue with just what I needed, and here is how I went about replacing it

    Hi,
    Sorry to be late...I was having a nap.
    Yes, this Dyson has a filter, but it's an "after engine" filter to prevent any particle pollution from the coals or the engine.
    I myself have a fairly old Dyson DC-05, which also has two filters, one before the engine to be cleaned every 6 months or so, the other is after the engine to prevent carbon particles from the engine. Washable too.
    I recommend to buy quality filter, not sure Chinese filters are nice.
    The motor on my old DC-05 has been replaced because of wear, worn brushes and commutator. Since then, I've bought another dc-05 with the worn motor for the garage, a motor doesn't cost much.

    I have been throughly dissatisfied with my Dyson Animal cinetic cyclone ball vacuum. By far the worst vacuum I’ve ever purchased! Thanks for your video I shall now head off to mitre 10 to buy stupid screw driver with stars and clean stupid hidden filter. And hopefully get my suction back! Can’t afford stupid air blower so wish me luck 👍 Lol

    I like to do things on the cheap as well :) I prefer it that we repair/reuse or upcycle items rather than just dump them and buy another. We've got an older Dyson DC19 that packed up. So I watched a couple of CZcams videos and then dismantled and cleaned the canister as well as installed a new motor giving us a reconditioned vacuum at 1/10 of the price of a new one. The star screws are Torx screws and some with the centre piece are security torx.

      Way to go. That's the whole reason I do these videos. I do so much learning on CZcams and figure I should give a little back. They sure look like a well manufactured bit of kit and very worthy of repair

    how did you use the vaccum cleaner?there are ashs every where, even in the wheel

      @BusedAsNZ  Před 7 měsíci

      Never vacuumed ash, just general household dust from the carpet (and of course dog hair which is why i paid so much extra for the pet version)

      @@user-marmot733 My Dyson got like that and it’s from carpet backing wearing out. It’s nothing to do with building work or ash. Dyson cyclones struggle with very fine particles. The reason why that Dyson has dust in the wheels is because the filter clogs and leaks dust into areas it shouldn’t!
