This ain’t fair. He brought nukes to a fist fight.😠
Gotta love Ed Sheeran being a good enough sport to good-naturedly poke fun at himself! 😂
How? By admitting he's a shit-stain on the shoes of Lennon & McCartney?
Cos he sort of...you know....is.
I mean, the fact that someone is better than you doesn’t mean they’ll be more successful, or that you can’t both have your moment in the spotlight.
Messi and Cristiano, anyone?
afm pfp🤭
@@CharlieZuko The Beatles and Ed Sheeran aren't comparable to Messi and Ronaldo though. The Beatles were definitely more successful than Ed is and much more popular. Messi and Ronaldo are equally as popular in their own right.
Well I guess it was in the script. You know it didn’t really happen
Not sure why, but this scene, this version of Long and Winding Road, always makes me emotional... Every time..
He really does it justice. Almost all of the Beatles songs in this movie.
Totally. Matter of fact, I have to avoid thinking about it because it always leads to a listening marathon of like 20 times... :)
Because it’s the original version
The premise of this movie makes me emotional, The Beatles are something my parents shared with me since I can remember, a world without my parents and The Beatles is a world I'd rather not be in.
It's the best version I've ever heard. Ever
Himesh Patel's naive portrayal as a struggling singer-songwriter, is so engaging to watch. Brilliant performance about his acting and singing too.
One of two incredible moments in this movie. The first is when Malik plays "Yesterday". The world seems to both stop and become more beautiful in that moment. The second is here when playing the "Long and Winding Road". In this we see, both through words and the audience's silence, the song take on divine quality. It is fitting that Sheeran's final line refers to "Amadeus" since both he and Salieri heard what they claimed was the voice of God.
Agreed. He did a helluva good job covering the Beatles songs, downright inspiring.
Find the clip where he plays Something. They didn’t include it in the release but it’s online. It was so incredibly powerful it messed with the romance angle.
This is a whole concluding paragraph for a essay 😂well done
I thought it added to the romance angle. Gave her a reason to be jealous and start acting weird about his success. Was perfect. @@rbu2136
Yes!
We need more movies like this with such creative scenarios.
Yeah a lot less super heroes and special effects would be nice.
@@lemondropkid6175there are so many more of these movies. Problem is: people only think of the movies that sell best
Because of this very scene I bought a piano and I'm learning to play since then. It really had that impact on me
How’s the process going?
@@melioavilez slow, but The long and winding road it's under control 😋
The Beatles continue to make music happen through inspiration, you are one of so many. This is really great to hear. Hope you find great satisfaction, and never stop, just play with it. Watch Paul show Rick Rubin how he plays simply, it is inspiring. You don't have to be a genius, you just have to give it a go and enjoy it.
@@cvalde i would suggest learning "Imagine" by John Lennon. It's one of the great and easiest songs to play on the piano, there are tutorials on CZcams, and it will impress your friends!
I watched this again last night in bed while my wife quietly slept beside me and when he started with Lennon and McCarthy’s masterpiece ‘In My Life’ I had tears streaming down my face, because I know that there will never be another song written like it.
That first bar and Ed knew.. it just takes over instantly
This scene always makes me feel bad for Ed Sheeran. Paul McCartney wrote this masterpiece on his farm and had a year to perfect it prior to recording. Jack picking this in a 10 minute song writing contest underscores and exemplifies the moral quandary of him representing himself as this master songwriter.
yeah, but also, Ed World Class Pop Artist Sheeran challenged an unknown struggling musician to a battle that he "knew" he was gonna win. Seems like he was trying to show his superiority, so he kinda had it coming. But also this is a movie and none of this ever happened, so lol
@@josephan6953 the irony being ed playing a cocky version of himself when he's actually a very humble artist
I think this is a film, so all should be ok :)
@@josephan6953 I never thought about this, come to think of it, it is pretty shit for Ed to challenge an unknown singer, no wonder malik wips out the long and winding road.
Sheeran is playing a bit of crappy version of himself in the movie which shows some very impressive self awareness on his part. If you ever hear him in interview he is extremely self deprecating. I’m not a fan of his music (that means nothing other than my taste in music doesn’t go that way) but I’d say he is my favorite ambassador for music for kids. He constantly promotes practice over “natural talent”. He knows well he isn’t a Mozart level guitar player nor does he need to be. He’s an amazing artist for many reasons and you have to give him props for doing this movie.
Does anyone else cry every time they watch this? I don't want to be the only one.
This movie should have been a Blockbuster it was so good I love it I'm watching it again right now! Great movie and voice
Very underrated & understated Movie. Up there with the best.
This movie STILL impacts me with every watching. A top 10 of all time for me.
i didnt like the movie. and im the biggest beatles fan in the world.
cleverly written and the best music....can't believe it did not find the radar of all the music peope out there...
@@josephlucas819 this movie is crap that's why, and im the biggest beatles fan in the world and i hated this movie
I think the movie is a reflection on how beautiful the meaningful the lyrics of each of the songs are. Removing the distraction on who wrote the songs but focus on meaning of the lyrics and what it means to each one of us individually. So beautiful movie. Even now these scenes still bring tears to my eyes. Especially when he went to see John Lennon.
I grew up seeing my brothers play the Beatles on their guitars (3 of them played the guitar) Today, after losing all of them, the only thing that remains are the memories and what you exactly what you said: A profound feeling, which sprung from the deep meaningful lyrics and music of the Beatles.
Ed Sheeran was amazing in this movie. Great singer and now actor.
That's Sir Ed Sheeran, according to the movie! lol
I thought it would have been nice for Jack to admit he hadn't written it that night. "I never wrote it down but it was already in my head" So you win Ed". Ed was all depressed for nothing lol.
Ed must really love Paul’s music. No shame in being second to that. But well played. Must say.
I watched this film on an airplane, thinking it would be a fun romp. I did not expect a film that made me cry so hard…that one scene with you-know-who….(crying on an airplane is kinda embarrassing, ya know?) beautiful film. I could feel the main character’s guilt growing as he was being praised and idolized for songs he *knows* he should not take credit for. It ended perfectly.
“Altitude Adjusted Lachrymosity Syndrome”
i also watched it in an airplane going to frankfurt from qatar. best mobie ive seen
I’ve been a longtime musician and songwriter..won some awards and had stuff on the radio and worked in bands with super talented players….BUT a band like The Beatles, with THREE incredible songwriters is SUCH a rare instance. Just a one-time synergistic crossing of artistic paths that had to be meant to be, from the wealth of songs they left behind and the BILLIONS of people impacted by their music.
"A life without the beatles is a life i don't wanna be a part of". This movie was a masterpiece, just like "across the universe"
To be fair, this guy could (and should) have mixed it up occasionally. When he's Googling 'The Beatles' at the start of the film, he also Googles 'Oasis' and finds out that they never existed either (because they basically spent their entire career trying to 'be' the Beatles), but they use it as just a throwaway gag. But it does mean that he ALSO had access to all of Oasis' back catalogue too!
To be fair, there's some absolute bangers in there! Wonderwall, Roll With It, Don't Look Back in Anger, Stand By Me, Supersonic, Rock 'n' Roll Star, Don't Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Lyla, Slide Away....
Dude could have put out multiple albums of Oasis songs too, or slipped a few in alongside Beatles songs and no-one would have noticed
But only if he memorized the Oasis catalogue during his time on regular Earth, which isn't guaranteed. A musician of his calibre would potentially have played a few of their hits before, but maybe not all of them.
He probably thinks about how far he can coast along on all the Beatles song he can remember, then when he had had enough of that, maybe he will devolve to playing the Oasis catalogue.
But, to be honest, a world in which the Beatles never exist is worthy of being made a movie of, whereas a world without Oasis...not so much.
Agreed..... Malik singing "please don't put your life in the hands of a rock & roll ban (they could've easily changed it to a "rock & roll man") at the Wembley scene would've been perfect
Or could have used Imagine as a song, or any solo acts....Also Wings
Dude don’t forget at the end about forgotten Harry Potter too 😅
I've watched this video at least 100 times ( saw the movie too - of course ) and I still can't get over how well performed it is. Absolute perfection if you ask me.
I watched this many times, still bumps, knowing something great is coming. Thanks
As a fan of the Beatles and Ed Sheeran, this movie is amazing to me especially when i first saw this in the theater!!!!!
Honestly this movie is funny and just wholesome af
Love this movie.. so underrated
The artwork on the walls at this building tho!❤️
Great movie. It makes us know just what a gift that music is.
The Beatles were just so far and above all the so called greatest rock and roll groups. The Stones, Led Zepplin, etc. they perhaps have a place, but the Beatles paved the way for others to follow. It is a case of the often misquoted Aristotle saying, The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The Beatles as individuals were all great, but together, they were just so much better than they had the right to be. And we should be grateful that they came together for as long as they did.
if you like the beatles i have something i think you will want to see
Some of Lennons solo songs are up there with the biggest Beatles songs imo.
Paul eh not.
Well goddamn. You said it like it should be said the Beatles are untouchable, having influence from the bands before and now influencing generations after. I am only 45 and my first love of music was The Beatles from 45’s on my father’s record player.
@@yeahbee8237troll
@@flabunny1 I was born in 1960, so my earliest memories of rock bands were the Beatles and then everyone else, who tried to catch the same lightning in a bottle. Sure some of them were very good, even great. But none of them can match the song writing of John and Paul, and the way that all 4 of them united together. They were the tightest group that ever existed.
He could have been a bit kinder and pulled out 'Octopus's Garden'.
Ed: **wrote a song about penguin**
Jack: **wrote a beetles classic**
Jack could have wrote about walrus or something to the tune of yellow submarine for handicap 😂😂
I recently discovered The Long and Winding Road is one of my dad's favorite songs of the Beatles, but he never talked about it, I watched this clip and was curious about the original song, I looked it up, and share the video with him because I know he is a big Beatles fan, I always thought this part of the movie was so beautiful and now it gave me a new memory with my beloved dad
This is my mother favorite, when Paul comes to our city, 4 years before she died, in the begging of the song I cry, and I cry, and cry like a lost child, and the people around me, don't understand, nothing, but that tears are the way to show my respect for my loved mom and for that man, that give us some so extraordinary.
That's the beauty of this gems of music ❤
Nothing beats The Beatles, even in fictional film scenario and I think even Ed Sheeran will be delightfully honored for taking his part on being defeated by The Beatles's songs in this story.
Sorry, my mind plays tricks on me. When I played the clip again my brain just fills whats lacking in this version of "Long and Winding Road", which is filling the bass that wasn't there and escalated the instruments imaginarily at the last verse. I mean ofcourse the song is great but it was because I already knew that before, and that's not fair.
You can see in his eyes the beginning of what makes the end of the movie.
Perhaps the best song ever written...I wholeheartedly agree!
Interesting seeing this scene again after watching "Get Back." McCartney was just not human in the period he wrote this. He probably *did* write it in 10minutes.
To be fair, Sheeran's song is pretty nifty.
Loved everything about this film 👏👏👏
I love the reference to Mozart vs. Salieri.
Tbf Ed Sheeran's song is pretty good
Would be sick if he actually wrote that in 10 mins
Makes me want to watch this movie again.
It worked Netflix!
Respect for ES. his love of what the Beatles had and have shared for all
This scene never made sense. Just because each said he wrote the song in 10 minutes doesn't mean he didn't already have it in his back pocket.
Ed made that part of the rules: can’t use a song already started
Just the thought of The Beatles never existing gave me an incredibly sad feeling while watching this movie.
Such a good movie, and you can tell it was made with love for the Beatles and their songs.
A los 10 años mas o menos, tome un disco de mi mamá y The long and winding road, me enamoró. La oia una y ota vez. En esa edad pensaba que tenia un gusto musical de señoras 🤣
Luego un día a los 12 en la escuela, en inicio de año conocí a un nuevo compañero con gustos similares. y fue como: Te gusta Queen? -siii, te gusta One night at the Opera??? -siiiiii... Y oiste de los Beatles, the long and winding road?... - OH SEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤣
Such a great premise of a movie. From 1 day to the next a really big artist is forgottor to everyone, but 1 person.
What a fun movie! Malik’s musical performances are such a befitting tribute to the Beatles
If there was a sequel to this but it was a different band etc that would be cool. Not taking anything away from this but the concept is cool to explore
Such a great movie.
Queria assistir na Netflix!
Espera um pouco, mas o que é Netflix?
The amazing thing is since watching the Get Back documentary, Paul got these songs from thin air as much as Jack supposedly did
Lol. Imagine if this was real: you're a global superstar, millionaire, talented, and in a bar some jackweed comes along and drops one of the greatest songs ever written. lol.
I forgot about this movie and especially the scene… but it did remind me about Ed Sheeran’s Penguins
the most beautiful song
if netflix can get the rights they should make a beatles series about their career since it would be too hard to put into a 2 hour movie, the beatles were the most streamed music group for the entire year of 2020 beating out all new groups, bts came in 2nd, so the time is right for someone to make a beatles series, bts is a flash in the pants like nsync and one direction were, in 2030 some new group will be compared to the beatles, it happens every 10 years, but there will never ever be another beatles
Dont have to degrade one to upgrade another
Bts is not a flash in the pan.. theyll have their own section in history as a non English grp that made an impact.
The beatles also have theirs
Sparkling bright . Both.
@@yoonjin3790 when bts is 40 and 50 they wont be famous anymore because nobody will want to see old men dancing, they would look silly, they are a joke and bad for music because they are in music and lack the talent to be a real music group, only people with no standards like them
@@americanpatriot7233 how stupid your remark is. Does not warrant a reply. But know this-

Kurt Cobain wrote “About a girl” when he was 20, after listening to Hard days Night on repeat, The Beatles have influenced some truly great artists.
БЕЗ ИССКУСТВА НЕТ ЖИЗНИ - THERE IS NO LIFE WITHOUT ART
Fabulous movie.
Goosebumps
Is this film in Netflix in Sweden?
Lol Ed Sharon calling him Mozart and himself sallieri is so funny and amusing to me in so many ways 😂
I love this movie
massive respect to ed sheeran for saying he is second to beatles.
Interesting premise of the film. Out of 7 billion people you would think more than one person would remember the Beatles.
Maybe there were people who remembered the alternate Earth, BUT unless they were there in the 60's and 70's the Beatles may not have been as important for them to remember, since they were into Rap Music and Divas music which is so popular to Millenials.
Several other people appear near the end of the movie who remember the Beatles but aren't natural musicians like Jack...
His voice is perfect for this film, if he was actually singing it (I believe it was?)
He sang all the songs and the really cool thing is all of the performances in the movie were filmed live....no studio editing. Gifted kid.
@@seancobb7653even cooler that he basically had to learn the instruments as well in preparation. saw an interview where he mentioned how nervous he was to play this on piano. the bright side is that messing up a chord here and there fits into the plot since this dude has to rewrite and record the songs based on memories of how they sounded
Makes you wonder if there really are alternatives universes.
1:18 On the left. I'm betting that's a member of the film crew blending in as part of the after party.
One of my favorite movies.
My favorite scene from this amazing movie
Beatles is my father and uncles. Favorite band..
For decades when someone would ask me “what’s the best song by the Beatles” I’d respond “She came in through the bathroom window.”
Then I heard this version of “Long and Winding Road”
Now it’s been living rent free in my head.

Has to be one of the most funny imaginative movies. I watched this on my pvr. Joy!
Beautiful song . . .
So the movie Amadeus exists in this parallel world that never heard of the Beatles
The design of your eyes is something
Out of the ordinary from another planet
This was a good one...
should be a sequal where someone does all the oasis songs
I had to look up the movie synopsis, so now I understand the “what”, but I still don’t understand the “why”.
... watch it
Because it's a heartwarming fun little film with great music
Maybe you should watch the movie then…
It's one of those movies that doesn't need a serious analysis - just a nice, feel good journey with some great music.
The Lennon scene is the only why I need
very underrated fun movie
It's amazing how this movie is so great despite having roles by both Ed Sheeran AND James Corden.
I fail to see any reason why those two solid actors would negatively impact the quality of the movie. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Ed Sheeran I'd argue is essential to the movie though. You need a solid folk-pop modern star. He does it perfect, and is humble enough to just be blown away by the Beatles.
@@tatonka411 NOBODY would ever reject the chance to be blown away by the Beatles. It is an honor.
Man... in less than a decade, the Beatles went from boyband to writing many of the greatest songs ever written. All of them are great individually but when they are the Beatles, the world stops being mesmerized by their music. The Lennon-McCartney partnership was unstoppable in those days.
Melhores cantores são os ingleses
who wouldn’t wanna write the Long and winding road 😂
@1:25 The long windy road cover
The Beatles wrote great songs and lyrics way beyond their life experiences!
I've not seen the film, but have ruined it for myself by watching many clips. Ed Sheeran comes across beautifully. His song fragment, in this segment, is astonishing. And yet, the structure of the film requires him to be placed, as everyone must, as a subordinate voice in the chorus led by the Beatles. He does this with humility and grace. He lifts up the Beatles.
Beatles were genius song writers !
Such an ionic movie.
Are there piano sheet music of this version anywhere?
prob not since it didn’t match the original exactly
Was that last look on Jack’s face either:
1. Who am I gonna shag?
Or
2. If they only knew….
No human can write and sing this in 10 mins....Ed Sheehan wins for singing something more realistic in 10mins.
unless they're copying it, which is what was being portrayed
This movie had so much potential to be something really interesting…
And totally dropped the ball.
Hold on...I got this best melody ever in my back pocket..You knew when it was John and when it was Paul....So Paul....
