*Life tip:* When something like this happens and you happen to be in a vehicle, a car preferably, angle the car TOWARDS the wind direction. Maybe avoid parking behind buildings, you don't wanna be slapped in the face with flying debris from them but I can see why you'd want to use the building as cover, so... Just be smart here. Angling the car this way will limit the area of exposure and wind hitting your car and so are less likely to be tipped over or dragged away. Then, place the car in park, and enable the parking break. Also... cars are meant to be aerodynamic. Wind will go over the front and windshield easier, rather than the sides and rear. Windshields also break into tiny squares, this way no shards ever fly at the driver incase they shatter. Then just jump in the back seat or something and cover yourself however you can. Maybe even lay down on the seat - or sit on them - and put your seatbelt on. In case the winds are too strong and you get tossed around, at least the seat holds you in place. I wish you the best in your situation. I hope this may save your life. It definitely saved someone I know, thank goodness, but that's a long story, lol. 😁 Warning, this kinda only works with strong winds and not tornadoes or anything else... So just be weary of that.

The last thing you would want during a tornado is a story above you made of bricks or other heavy materials that the wind is going to make crash down onto you.

Bro most of these weren’t in the US,
and even then most houses in areas with tornados there are built with steel beams and brick basements- which is where you hide. The last thing you would want during a tornado is a story above you made of bricks or other heavy materials that the wind is going to make crash down onto you.

You know, much of the south where the tornados and hurricanes hit is pretty poor, particularly the rural south, but we do have building codes that people are often VERY strict about. There’s just very little way to storm-proof small, inexpensive structures like trailer homes very well, especially against the strongest tornadoes that threaten nearly everything that’s close enough.
