One of the many things I have been waiting to try out is to hook the EcoFlow Delta to my Air Conditioner I put in my camper last year, and I was shocked by the result. This opens up a world of possibilities for the future!

Ok FINALLY someone did a realistic and easy to understand video on running an A/C unit. THANK YOU! I've been looking for a way to cool my 99 E150 for a few hours while I take a nap during the day. I work over night a few hours from home so I wanted a way to sleep during the day for a few hours during the summer.
The important thing is using a small AC. I have central air, but a 3000btu AC unit in my bedroom window that I can feed into a 2000 watt ecoflow with 2 300 watt portable solar panels...and I can use that to have ONE ROOM that will be cool enough to get some sleep when it's 100 degrees outside. Granted,, at night, i just have battery power BUT...without the compressor running the fan will run quite a while. Mind you, I have more than one ecoflow. 4 in fact. Plus a 2000 watt 3000 peak generator to charge if I need. Here's the thing about generators. You think...BIG. Nope, Think smaller wattage. Gasoline will be at a premium during an 'emergency'. Use a smaller generator, charge batteries when there is no solar available. You have to experiment with what you have and predict any situation and TEST TEST TEST. You don't want to be trying to 'figure it out' when you need it. Trust me. Been there. Not good. Actually go out there and cut your power off a few days and see how you're going to do this...Don't pull water from the tap. Actually TEST it in a simulation of a real life event and DON'T cheat. Cut your water and electricity off for a couple of days...and then 'deal with it. Yeah. Harder than you think. Power grid goes down ? Guess what, WATER will soon be down as well. You have...maybe 48 hours. If it looks like it's going to be a while, fill those bathtubs...to the top. Have a way to filter water. Military grade stuff. Have a small butane gasone stove to cook and heat water. ALL OF THIS 'SURVIVAL' STUFF, IS A LOT TRICKER THAN YOU THINK. Trust me, been there, done that. Real time. Not theoretical. You'd be surprised how quickly it can happen. One day, all is well. 3 days later your sitting in the dark with NO INTERNET...NO TV...NO HEAT, NO WATER...going...'wow I hope this ends soon.' And what you have in your house, is what you have. I could not get to my storage unit. Electricity was down. That electric gate or 'wifi' lock didn't work at the storage unit place. Nope. You have to envision EVERY scenario. And it can happen sooo easily and so quickly ...it blew my mind I'll tell you that.
@@satexman2585 i keep propane bottles and converted my eu30is to run on propane. I have 2 of them 14.2kg ones and it runs the eu30is at full load for 14hrs on each cylinder. And in my regular load i have 2days worth of backup if i live normally or if i go in conservative i can probably get a whole week on two cylinders.
@@satexman2585 Thanks for the suggestions... good info. I'm wondering where did you find a 3000 Btu window AC please? Ty!
@@uber2tuber I looked everywhere I can’t find 3k btu I think he meant 5k btu I guess.
@@satexman2585 There’s no such a thing as a 3000 BTU A/C unit. 5000 is the lowest.
Omg! You are the first person to do a realistic test of this unit! You don’t know how long I been looking for a video like this. Everyone is trying to test this on a 16,500 btu unit..🤦🏽♂️Thank you so much!!! For a video people can really use, that’s informative.
Hot & humid where I am. Just got mine 2 days ago. Pls wish me the best.....🙏. Ty.
A 5,000 btu ac unit might be better for that small space. And it might last longer.
Great....The only thing I need is to run an AC. Finally, someone got to it!
Parking your trailer in the shade would dramatically lower the heatload on your trailer and consequently the a/c would run much less extending the run life of your Ecoflow Delta. With removable panels, 3 or 4 100watt, and a 30' cable connecting your panels you might be able to run all day.
Shade... the original A/C...
Don't waste time with 100w panels, use 200w minimum
The ecoflow requires at minimum 400 watts to charge properly.
Thanks for the time and effort. Us with less knowledge about the Gens and AC units really appreciate this...Such a great starting point...Buying Gen and small AC unit. I got my mind between 8000 and 10000 btu. Trying to push enough for AC , refrigerator and a few extra appliances. ..Every bit of information helps.
When you were running the generator, the Delta was pulling all those watts from the genny to pass through the amount the AC was requiring. The generator was giving you 30amp service and your house circuits are probably limited to 15 amps, hence the smaller draw. Your tests makes all kinds of sense! Thanks!
I had this in my bedroom for about a year and it did exceptional when keeping my room cool through the southern heat. It works best in a small room because the air had a strong current, but not enough range.
Looking at this with serious interest. Looking to use a Midea 8,000 BTU U-Shaped Smart Inverter Window Air Conditioner. Basically a mini split type system. More costly than the $150 window unit, but seems easier to mount. Also considering a Ecoflow with our 2k generator. Had considered mounting a charge controller inverter, and using the Delta as the battery and let the inverter handle the a/c. So many ideas.
Awesome video!! Trying to find best option to cool my daughters ford transit. Just bought ecoflow Wave and and tried hooking it to solar, but found out Wave can only work with other Ecoflow power stations. So sending back ecoflow wave and going to go with an Ecoflow power station, portable AC and a small generator. Your video was very helpful.
Finally the video I was looking for. Thank you.
I really want to see some decent testing on how these units operate when powering a 12vdc air conditioning unit. They suck way less power when operating, but also aren’t as strong, which can mean more compressor cycles per hour. By converting your DC to AC, right off the bat you are losing about 20% efficiency.
Hopefully in the near future, the tech will develop enough that we can solar charge at a faster rate than the ac unit burns.
I just ordered a eco flow delta w/ a 160w solar bundle on black Friday sale for $799 I already have a 720 and a 320 and I love them
No battery right?
I’m almost certain you’re using the wrong power cable.
The normal PC ones are 18awg, MAX 10 amps. As it hits 1400 watts the cable is adding too much resistance and the Ecoflow sees the voltage dropping, so it kicks off when the voltage drops to 105 or so.
I did the same test with my Delta1300. I have an LG 5000 BTU AC needing 440watts. I have 600 watts of solar going into Delta 1300. My Delta OVERHEATED after 15 minutes and shut down. Even after disconnecting the solar input, the Delta OVERHEATED. Delta CS says it's a known problem and offered to refund my money or replace unit.
@Steve Paige
I thought the controller on the Delta limits the input. I returned mine and bought a MPP Solar all in one and a couple batteries. Problem solved for me.
@Steve Paige could you please explain how and what mpp is? I'm electronically illiterate. I bought my 1300 and 100w solar for camping now, then eventually living nomadically.
Yeah what the fuck? My delta draws 131 watts from my tape machine, small mixer and pc. At fucking 50 degrees in the room it still overheats after 20 minutes. Piece of expensive shit.
@@johnvalencia9927 Your Delta doesn’t “draw” from your PC etc. It puts out the power that THEY draw from the Delta. And your PC alone can be around 100 watt draw..so 130 total for those items is kinda normal dude.
@@rono33 the laptop is my pc and it's like 30 watts. The wattage wasn't my concern, my concern was how that low wattage makes my delta overheat. Nice reading comprehension.
These ac tests always run it on max. I would like to see a real world test where you leave it on like 78 degrees, and see how it runs when it reaches 78, and then just maintains. We know an a/c does not run ALL the time. So I would like to see how long the battery would last when it just maintains the resting temp.
Well that depends on how much power it's using and how long it's on.
I totally agree. That would have been really useful. Obviously how often the compressor comes on is entirely dependent on the outside air temperature and the amount of thermal insulation the trailer has but that would have been the best way to test.
This is not an inverter ac so it wouldn't make any difference. At higher temperature the compressor would go on and off so it would be same thing just happening more frequently..
I want to know MAX not just barely not sweating or 2 hours only I want 24 hours continuously usage always a spot to go to for relaxing Comfort. Paid for by the Sun
Mine runs constantly here in Florida
I've been looking for a video like this. Thank you
Ecoflow makes a generator that can be set up to automatically kick on when the battery drops below a certain level and shut up when fully charged. And they can run on propane.
Whoa! You gotta hybrid power system with easy all plug n play and a couple of hours to refill generator. I like this. Thanks!
U should get an inverter air conditioner. I have the eu30i and on eco it wouldn't run my older 1.5RT i mean it would start but the voltage drop be enough to dim the lights for a sec. Now i have inverter air conditioner and it runs the 2RT unit like no issue. Also inverter ones only consume the power they need to maintain temperature they don't go full 100% 0% all the time. They ramp up slowly and when set temperature is reached they ramp down slowly . Saves fuel and wayyy quieter.
Once the ac compressor gets under pressure and the coil gets cold, it runs at 184 watts while keeping the condenser cold and fan going. It is amazing
Are you saying that's what it takes to run the unit when not in cooling mode like you set it to 78 and that's the fan just running or are you saying you got an ac unit that runs at 184 watts all day? And if so what brand lol 😆
The fan on a small window AC usually 50 watts when compressor is on its 450 to 480 watts and this is on a 5000 btu I’ve measured it
U need 3 novapower 200w panels in series. Find em on amazon - as long as u use the 1800 watt delta model
Soft start AC no spike.staged starting.soft start big must off grid, technically even one in your wall of your home does it need to be spiking to 2000W 1800w whatever. I’m running off grid soft start now with just minimal everything in Florida successfully :-) reasonably
I have the smaller river 600 max and it runs amazingly well keeping my Midea 8000 btu u-shaped ac going and only drawing like 380 watts max
It has amazing blue tooth and features. It is rated as an inverter ac and is the most quiet and efficient one made
Something isn’t right here. Many reviews show the 600w unit can’t power a 6k btu unit. So for you to power an 8k sounds weird
Those midea inverter technology air conditioner are great I have a 12,000 btu one and when I use my 2200 watts inverter generator it only uses 430 watts with the condenser on and it has the soft start would love to try it with the ecoflow 1300 watts or 3400 watts
@We the People.... how long does it run?
To get the full 100 watts from the solar panel you only need to unplug the solar cable and plug hit back in.
Cool video. Cool technology. Good job putting it to the test. If I had the Delta that's probably how I would want to use it in a worst case scenario. Good to know.
400 watts max solar input to delta -costco has them for $949.00 til 10-24-21
My window ac unit has an eco mode and I would've loved to see how much power is being drained from it on eco mode. I would be interesting to see if it can be maintained by solar. Good video though, no one else is doing ac with a battery bank
Nice outfit! Love the color!
I wonder how the 3600 watt Ecoflow Delta one would work for this or the 4500 one they have.
Thank you for the great review and test
The new eco flow pro will run that a/c for about 7 hours
Great buffer because it has a bypass in it not to mention the functionality of an entry level UPS
what? why do I need a buffer? The plug coming out of the generator is fine.
We share similar curiosity factors... 👍
I managed to keep my 8,000 BTU Window AC Unit going all day and night out here in San Jose California. It was 94 Degrees outside during the day and 68 at night. My room gets very hot due to poor insulation and I kept my AC at 68-72 degrees the entire time. I had 150 Watts of Input Max from Solar and had I used the max 400 watts input it would've defintely kept it powered or a week easily considering how good the sun is around here. Doing that I could also use my tv, tablet, phone, xbox, and more.
That’s what I’m talking about! So how many solar panels do you have to run your window unit all day/night? I’m in Florida and I’m interested in doing the same.
@@irietropicals4255 at the time is was a 300 Watt Dokio 18 Volt Solar Panel. The Issue was that I didn't have a long enough cord so I wasn't able to get full Sun the entire day. I layed it on my Grass rather than the roof. If I had it directed at the Sun I got 180-200 Watts out of it at it's peak. Power Stations like the Ecoflow Delta don't get the best Solar Conversion compared to Batteries so you'll never get fulll amount out of it. Extreme Heat also makes the Panels less efficient.
Fernando me podrias orientar poquito sobre esto porfavor, cual delta tienes, que es lo que necesitas, el maximo es 400w inpout ?
Este es el que tienes EcoFlow DELTA mini Power Station 882 Wh Power??
@True Shore No that was just a test day. I have since then tested multiple times on different days with varying heat and varying sun exposure.
Hey, window ACs tend to run just on or off. If you get a thermostat plug that will cycle the ac much more, it will cut down on usage. :)
Huh?? WTF are you talking about? Window AC’s have thermostats also. The compressors come on and off regularly. Dude get your facts straight?
Also, using run through power ( charging n using at the same time ) is so hard on battery. A plug thermistat that actually cycles will help battery's live.
How does a plug thermostat work pls? cost?
What this world needs is a real world 200 watt 12v 5000 BTU A/C. I've read HVAC inovations are in the works, but sure some physics limitation is holding that up.
I wonder if a single 400 watt solar panel in the sun 20' away, parked under the trees and run a 400 watt 5000 BTU A/C with the Delta. with modest sun will it run from 10am-6pm? And for that matter, will this work with a single 100AH Lithium and an MPPT controller.
man he said he could run the AC for 3 hours and that its amazing... (sigh) im so far ahead of my time when it comes to this stuff... 3 hours is nothing.. if it was at least 8 hours okay... but man i long for the day where one day, humans will have the ability to power a heater/AC, TV, Laptop, light bulb all at the same time for 24 hours with a battery the size of EcoFlow and recharge that battery supply in an hour... imagine the day that happens? i can imagine a world of people living in there vehicles.. I think once humans get to that point, stationary homes will be obsolete and people will tend to buy RV type homes where all man needs is one large battery to power all there needs. Man would have evolve From fire to the battery for their survival.
Eco flow delta PRO
Buy few more power house. All problems solve
Yep, and the day when autonomous vehicles predominate will be the start of a different style of life. Utilities will be delivered via AV, allowing anywhere living which will include old homes with rotten underground infrastructure.
There are five major renewable energy sources
Solar energy from the sun.
Geothermal energy from heat inside the earth.
Wind energy.
Biomass from plants.
Hydropower from flowing water.
You had the solar panel plug in and the ac power to.
what amerage us the air conditioner? whats make and model please.
I'm new to solar . Where do I get these long cords for my Delta Eco flow to connect to my panels that came with them. The one they sent is kinda short
I watch all these videos and s I me people have what looks like 30 or 40 feet of solar panel cord. So I CA. Keep my Generator in my house and panels out in the sun. ??
Thank you for the very informative video!
What size AC? Will the generator run the AC alone in eco mode?
I love EcoFlow products. Top notch. I wonder if you turn off the XBoost mode….I think that would hold down the incoming wattage from getting so high.
Add a soft start to the AC
Good video .. best bet as prices go down on these lifepO4 batt a good 4000 watt paired system will
Weigh close to 100 pounds then you could get whole day or night of nice AC providing the compressor cycles on
And off and you using up to a 6000 btu air conditioner
How much would that system cost aprox. with 200Ah lifepo4 battery, mppt and 2000W inverter? and all wiring too. Just roughly if you happen to know. ty!
@@uber2tuber just buying the 2 raw battery’s and a good 2000 sine wave inverter around $1000 to 1500 then add around $100 for a good lifepO4 charger . It’s best to charge them thru a generator the sun will take long time and u have to park in sun and boil. Lol
@@emiltv Thanks so much. I didn't know there is a lifepo4 charger... will a Predator 2000 charge them okay? ty!!
In this test the AC keeps using more and more power.. Do you think this has anything to do with the ducting in the back is actually choking the airflow to the back part of the AC?
What is the capacity of the ECOFLOW? Is it 1300W or 1900W?
What is the rating of the AC unit? Is it 8000 BTU? or 12000BTU?
Thanks
That's exactly what its supposed to do
Awesomeness. I just used my delta max for the 1st time to run my ac and it wouldn’t work…I forgot about the ac button!
You need the charging cable that comes with it.
Thanks for the great video.
What size airconditioner did you use in the test? thanks
Thank you for the video. I have a 100W solar panel like yours where do I buy an adapter that plugs into the generator like the one you have?
I thank it will come with the unit when you get it if not it's just your average solar panel connector to an x t60 connector that's the yellow one you could wire up your own if you needed to as long as you made sure you had pos to pos and neg to neg or it will blow 😉 and you can get a pack of the x t60s on eBay or Amazon.
OK now do a video running that air conditioner 24/7 with that battery (and extra battery) using solar assist.
Very helpful. Thanks!
Just curious what the btu on the air conditioner is
I see how old the video is, but I don't recall you specifying the specific model of Ecoflow Delta you had? Is this the Delta 1300 or Delta Max?
Perhaps a couple of Zero Breeze mk 2 a/c units would work best and should last through the night.
Those units suck! They only cool your face 😂
Would you purchase a delta pro?
We have used the czcams.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
The down fall to the eco flow pro is only 200 watt in solar it will only fast charge threw ac for mine idk about the delta..thanks for the video
what size btu is that unit? also is the back of the unit outside?
hello, could you give me the specifications of the air conditioning? thank you
Now do one on a space heater.
Have you run the ac with just the eco flow only, no generator of solar just to see how long the ac will last
That's my question too and what I was hoping to get from this video. I appreciate him addressing his questions re the generator, but that's not really what this video says lol.
That ac unit has a 3 prong plug yes? I thought MHR heard that might be a “no no” to plug them in without a ground. Is that still an issue or not? MedgEducate me becauyim not an electrician.
Awesome! This is what I wanted to do. What kind of AC unit is that?
Frigidaire 6,000 BTU
Just bought my midea ac, and I run it on my Delta. Spikes pretty high but settles to where yours does. Anyway, nice video. Check out my solar vids...
How many Btus is it and high does it spike pls? ty! considering buying one for my van to power with solar/ecoflow.
Whats was the ac btu I wanna use a 8000 BTU on the delta 2 and im curious how long it would last in az 😅 with Mayne a 200 solar panel
Man I need this. Is there a way to connect it directly to the cars ac and use its instead or will it explode.
Love it
Does it have pass through charging
How many btu's is the ac?
So I would need like 12 to run a ac all day...13 to run other devices. When are they gonna make one that's really the bomb. I want to run a ac all day. We're not there yet.😌
hows the outlet wired
Any additional solar to cover ac ussage?
Thanks for video. What size air condition do you have?
In comments above he says it's 6000 Btus.
How long will it power it
Wow
Anybody knows It’s work fine with the Dometic CFX fridge conected to 12v outlet? I read that it has a shutdown timer and just shutdown after 30 mins. True or not?
No it's just user error because people turn it on and plug it into the 12v plug but you actually need to turn on the DC port and it won't do that.
Will your honda generator charge Delta if nothing plugged in? I have a delta wonder if I get a generator to charge it. How many watt generator do I need.
2000w is a nice all around size
How many btu is that ac ?

Their customer support in US is lacking, I've had it for 4 months and the carport output is dead... Everything else works, but the carport. This is a critical component of my overlanding trips and submitting a ticket or calling will only get you their offshore team and it will take 3-4 days for a us team member to get back to you... Whoa! That Honda Generator is too noisy and is not cost effective to operate for days on end.
Actually not that loud if you have the Honda 1000 watt with half a gallon i run my 5000 btu AC , 32 inch tv, small potable dc refrigerator, and computer for close to 6 or 7 hrs on eco mode . Of course my AC cycles on and off adjusting to temp I’ve done this for 7 yrs and Honda still keeps on ticking. A marvel of technology I did buy the Honda 2200 as backup and yes it’s much louder than small one but still acceptable when on echo mode. Now with these new batteries coming out
Things get better turn on your generator and about less than 2 hrs u got your batt full nice ! And live off the batt till they need charge again! Solar still too much of a pain unless you are stationary in a land or house permanent and u can put bigger panels but for rv and on the go takes too long to charge big batt and then u have to bake in the sun lolol
Just ordered one of these. I'm curious if I would be able to get the AC outlet charging speed if I were to plug it into the AC outlet of my 2017 minivan
so what happened?
@@OldWorldPhiladelphia I haven't tried but after further research I felt that it would not so I didn't bother The OEM AC inverter for my van will not put out the same wattage as the AC outlet in my home. If I remember correctly the owners manual said it puts out about 150watts
This is all to get away from wife and kids.
Do not buy. The delta I ordered needed a firmware update right out of the box. Ecoflow will not return it and told me 4 weeks to upgrade firmware.

Great job Putin.
