- In this video we'll have a good look at the first generation Intel x86-based mac pro that Apple released. During the video I plan to give a short introduction to this mac pro 1,1 and then I'll install an SSD and get this machine to run its latest possible version of macOS, which is El Capitan.

I intercepted my friends 1,1 that was headed for recycling; I adopted it, replaced the X5150's with a couple X5365's from new "old stock" servers, updated the EFI to 2,1, & the SMC to 1.15f3; it also doubles as a space heater on cold days.
Its pretty cool and relatively usable, as long as you don't look at power efficiency :)

I have been using one of these for yrs now.. got it for free.. the upgrade to using two 3ghz cpus, 32 gb 667mhz ram, gtx960 and 2 ssds in raid 0 make it fly with capitan.. also dual booting windows 11 works great and win 11 runs killer fast on these, faster than capitan and has hw decoding/encoding with gtx960

Firefox ESD is available for El Capitan 😮 chrome legacy also. Can install office 2009 everythingdoing well on gt730 2GB is fast and reliable iTunes

I just Picked up this Same Machine today 7/28, for $25.00 on Facebook.
The guy says the Power Supply might be dead. He's not sure but figured someone can use it for a PC Case Mod.
It has 4Gib RAM & an ATI Technologies Radeon X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16.

Erg leuk heb ook een mac pro 2,1 heb verschillende boots gemaakt met win 10, el captain ,lion, en ga er ook nog een linux op mikken. en de set heeft me rond 80 euro gekost..mt 2 schermen cinema displsy en amd 1gb kaart..
These things still work great with Linux. I do not recommend trying to use them with macos, waste of time and it'll be very old and run poorly. Much better to run Linux and it'll be modern and up to date security wise.
Pls note there is a new browser that works all the way back to 10.7 and gets updates chromium legacy its good if you have a old mac or are like my grandma stubborn as a mule to update your os in anyway but I personally have been using my 06 mac pro as a minecraft bedrock server since my current one is a 2009

I have one flash to 2,1. Had fun working on this one. Neighbor threw out 2 of these so I pick them up. Move all the good parts to one. Look up some videos and I was on my way to refurbishing this mac. Mostly use it for video editing and music. Got OBS to work on this machine streaming via twitch. How long will that last I’m not sure
Unfortunately they are very power hungry for the performance you get in return. So if electricity is not cheap where you live, they kind of get obsolete due to that.
I my case I've got a MACPRO 3.2. I'm trying to boot from USB Drive that I create into a Windows Computer, but it does not boot from USB, Is there a magic think I can do to boot from USB. Note: I cannot login into MAC OS, there was a video sugesting erase Machintosh HD witch I've done since than it does not the login screen, just that tool for repair OS System.
Do you have any suggestion to try to boot via USB?

bro as far as ur cpu using so much to play youtube with capitan, its becuz theres no hw decoding support ..real shame too, believe me ive searched to get it and no go... im using a gtx960 which Has decoding available in windows on these macs but not in capitan..no card ive tested, gtx 660 or amd hd5770 or amd hd6670 ,none have hw decoding in chrome or firefox..however, with dual 3ghz cps,it draws about 10-11% cpu doing 1080p avc1 h264 vids in chrome and about 35% doing 4k vp9 video
Makes sense and confirms again that Windows is now actually the better option on this hardware.
