  • Higher levels of pesticides on GMO soy is a concern since Monsanto’s Roundup has been shown to be to have adverse effects on human placental tissue.

    What is glyphosate? Please see the “prequel” to this video, Are GMOs Safe? The Case of Roundup Ready Soy (nutritionfacts..... Before that I covered GMO corn: Are GMOs Safe? The Case of Bt Corn (nutritionfacts.....
    It’s the dose that makes the poison, though. Do we have evidence that the levels of Roundup chemicals not only found on crops but also in our bodies after eating those crops actually have adverse effects? That’s the subject of the final installment of this video series, GMO Soy and Breast Cancer. (nutritionfacts....)
    Commercial interests can have a corrupting effect on the science of nutrition and hold sway over institutions that are supposed to operate in the public interest. See for example:

      I taste poison when i ingest most american wheat products and thusly have cut it out of my diet. If you do the same it will take months for your taste buds to no longer be used to the pestacide taste and you will be able to recognize it. No matter what the chemical is, whether it be RoundUp, or something involved in the GMO crops, you will feel healthier off of american wheat within 4 weeks maximum. I have had 40 friends cut wheat out of their diet (most eventually went back, weak willed) and 39 of them felt varying degrees more healthy than when they were eating wheat. This is no easy task though, wheat is snuck into everything. It's called modified food starch, modified wheat starch, and it can even be in "natural flavorings".

      They spray round up on wheat crops to kill/dry them out for easier harvesting, since they upped the 'acceptable amounts' of round up in the diet.
      They spray round up from planes onto crops. They increase their use of it because weeds have become resistant. Monsanto is evil and they have a huge control over our government.

    Cutting through the jargon, YES, roundup is not safe for human consumption, and Monsanto's interests are only profit based.
    Note, Roundup is NOT a pesticide; it is an herbicide.

    • @reinholdfuhrmann875
      @reinholdfuhrmann875 Před 9 lety +1

      Roundup and all herbicides are pesticides. "Pesticide" is the word for all materials which control or mitigate any pest, whether it be a weed, insect, fungus, bacteria, rodent, bird, whatever. Believe it or not, those sanitizer-soaked towelettes that come in a convenient pop-up container are listed as a pesticide.
      Virtually all materials have certain levels of consumption at which they are dangerous, or at which there is no observable adverse effect, called the NOAEL. If you wish to discuss toxicology, you should learn some of the basic concepts, including the first one: "The dose makes the poison." Glyphosate levels in food are several orders of magnitude lower than anything toxicologists have found to be harmful.

    • @steven.peters
      @steven.peters Před 9 lety +1

      Your assertion is inherently flawed. While Roundup may act upon insect in a destructive manner, it does in fact have more damaging aspects to it as an herbicide on plants. It was made as an herbicide and the maker's claims are that of an herbicide.
      Perhaps you should learn to read toxicology reports on the adverse health effect and the implications of modern diseases in almost all animals life from Roundup herbicide, and pesticides.

    • @reinholdfuhrmann875
      @reinholdfuhrmann875 Před 9 lety

      Steven Peters, if you can show me an independent study that shows some kind of evidence of harm, I will happily concede. However, the links you have posted do not meet that criterion. The Samsel/Seneff study was debunked long ago, as was the Benbrook. The third link is not even a study; it's more a compilation of all the various pseudoscience surrounding the topic.
      If evidence from known anti-GMO/Roundup people is good enough for you, that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But someone will need to find some solid evidence before I can abandon this point of view.

    • @reinholdfuhrmann875
      @reinholdfuhrmann875 Před 9 lety

      Steven Peters, you said, "Clearly you haven't read any of the peer review journals' papers..." Not true. I have read them, just with a critical eye for pseudoscience. For example, the study in your most recent link shows that the glyphosate formulations cause harm to human cells ***in a petri dish***. I can do the same thing with ordinary table salt. Is table salt bad for you? In excessive amounts, of course it is. Again, the dose makes the poison.
      If the study was so good, why was it published in a journal with such a low impact factor? These are just a few of the things I evaluate when reading studies. It's also the reason that there is broad scientific consensus about the relative safety of this product.
      It's unlikely you can find anything that will change my mind, just as it's unlikely I can find anything to change yours. We simply have different standards for the evidence to support each position.
