Actually the only meaningful line in this trial imo is Cohen claiming they all did this to protect his campaign. But that's opinion. Not fact. And Cohen is a proven liar. Hoewever, he gave a blue jury an excuse. They can now say: yeah but we beliede Cohen is credible.
I don't get why Trump doesn't take the stand. Sure the prosecution would ask questions but he can say the same as Cohen did: "I don't fully remember" if he doesn't want to answer.

The immediate problems I have with the Cohen testimony is that he claims not to be on a retainer yet the email he sends regarding payments open with the very line of regarding his retainer payments.
Secondly, by his very own admission the payment came out of the DJT accounts and not from campaign accounts which shoots down the campaign finance claims supposedly at the very heart of the election interference claims. These claims were investigated by the FEC and rejected and they have the sole jurisdiction in those matters so why is Bragg attempting to litigate them when he lacks the jurisdiction to do so.
Cohen has testified the HE created multiple false invoices and presented those for payment, shouldn’t he be the one facing these felony charges instead?

Precisely wrong! It doesn't become a retainer because he calls it a retainer. I cannot get off bribery charges if I call them something else. Money coming from DJT account is why they are violations. They are undeclared contributions. Had they come from the campaign then everything would have been in the open and there would be no crime. The crimes were investigated by FEC and prosecuted. Trump was "un-indicted co-conspirator" in Cohen's guilty plea. Trump could not be indicted then since he was President. Cohen has faced these charges and gone to prison for them.

It's insane to me that you can have a trial, the prosecutor their witnesses and evidence, the defense has to go up and give their witnesses and evidence...and the prosecution doesn't say what the charge is until closing arguments? What even IS this?

It's crazy how these prosecutors will coerce people into falsely pleading guilty or falsely testifying against other people, and then if they call them out on it, that's perjury. And somehow it's not even an ethics violation of supporting perjury for the prosecutors to do it, much less conspiracy against rights, etc.
Civil rights campaigners have been raising this issue for decades. This is one reason for so many conviction errors. There has been deafening silence from Republicans. If it is bad for Trump, imagine how bad it is for most people caught up in the criminal justice system.

I am very confused by what’s going on in this trial. I am trying to find the through-like, but all I’m seeing is “We hate Trump. Trump bad for reasons. Not specific reasons. Just reasons.” Am I missing something?
Yes, you are missing a lot. The case itself is not too complicated. Trump is accused of business record fraud. This was recording payment to porn star as legal services. This is linked to 2 possible other crimes, election finance violations: the payment to porn star was not declared as an election contribution; and/or tax fraud: the payments were declared as income when they were not. The money was not earned by Cohen.
There are many very good reasons why some people hate Trump. The myriad lies would be enough for starters, but threatening to suspend the constitution is enough on its own for many.
The defence needs to show the jury Michael Cohens' T shirt that he sells depicting president Trump in hancuffs in an orange jumpsuit and in jail.. That picture is worth a thousand words.....

He did not have a retainer. He had a repayment scheme that he referred to as a retainer. The purpose of the payments was not to retain Cohen's services, but to pay him back for money he (Cohen) had already spent. Imagine I was paying you a bribe. I say, lets call it a retainer. You send me an invoice pursuant of our retainer agreement. Would that then mean I was not bribing you?
