The thing that makes Joe so incredibly accessible and different is that he screams/growls in pitch, and God love him for it. I'm jealous that you get to listen to them for the first time, man oh man what I wouldn't give to hear their songs again for the first time! Where Dragons Dwell is insane, the double bass goes on for like 7 minutes at the end, never seen anything like it. The Hellfest 2013 live version is the best to watch.

I know Gojira, but hadn't seen this video and I had some of the same reactions you did :) Also, that drummer... I've seen him live, and at times my jaw just dropped. Like someone else said: he is not human, he is so ridiculously fast and accurate, he must be a robot ;-) The singer (/growler) is his brother, btw.
4:38 - Technically it's called scream. Many people tend to think that only the high pitched ones are screams but both screaming techniques, Fry Screaming and False Cord Screaming, have high, mid and low pitch screams. The low pitch is commonly called growl but it's still a scream. ; )

This always sounds so much better on the album... I haven't heard a P.A. system and/or recording equipment that can deal with it all well. Annoyingly, they didn't play this when I last saw them.

Yeah we're all enjoying it... When were able to listen to it, without a pause every 5 to 10 seconds. We know the song people watch reaction channels, to see newbies to the bands and songs we love react... So proper? Set up song and the band... Listen to the damn thing uninterrupted because there's nothing more of a cardinal sin since you pause during the middle of a metal song... Then, and only then...
