For the first time on the channel, we are checking out Gojira with their song "The Art Of Dying." This tune was definitely a wild ride with multiple time signature changes and syncopated patterns! I'd be lying if I didn't say that this genre of music is definitely an acquired taste, but there are also so many cool musical moments from a musician standpoint! Extremely talented band and I'm curious what else they have out there! Hope you enjoy! #reaction #gojira #metalmusic #djent #progmetal #metalmusic

Oh yes! This is great cathartic music, I love how energetic and fast they are and still melodic. Wouldn't want it any shorter! This song is one of my favourites from Gojira.

Gojira is lyrically brilliant. For me, it separates them from a lot of other groups.
“I will bring no.. material to the afterlife. Take no possessions. I would rather travel light.”

      Best metal band alive imo

The syncopated section is 45/16, counted as 55533555333, where 5 groups are KKKS- (kick*3 snare pause) and 3 groups are KKS, meanwhile ride/china cymbal is playing quarter notes, and the pattern repeats 4 times to realign with the quarter notes pulse, taking 45 quarter notes in total. There isn't really a meter in this section, only a pulse. Check Yogev Gabay's video for an extensive breakdown of the part, and for more polymetric shenanigans check Pain is a Master
The fast double bass in the breakdown is sextuplets/16th triplets, and the blast beat isn't a gravity blast but a "classic" blast - kick+cymbal then snare. Gravity blast is snare on every hit.
Time signature in the end is rather 4/4*3 with snare on 3 rather than a slow 6/4.

NOW, you have my full attention. The best drummer in the world is in this band. I recommend The Gift of Guilt (Live at Brixton Academy). Mario Duplantier is a god. Hugely talented band. Brothers Joe and Mario. Joe Duplantier is on vocals, Christian Andreu on lead guitar, bass is Jean-Michel Labadie. Joe's vocals are completely understandable and this groove is insane. Also, if you want more groove. Amazonia is a highly recommended track. But for seeing Mario on drums I recommend the first song. Gift of Guilt live.
