- A clinical psychologist hired by Johnny Depp's legal team in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard testified that testing she conducted on Heard included answers that showed signs of "gross exaggeration" with "extreme levels of exaggeration." Dr. Shannon Curry testified that she diagnosed Heard with two personality disorders and was not asked to evaluate the allegations of abuse leveled by both Depp and Heard.

It's clinically significant, elevated, severe, and only 2 percent of same age people score higher in that symptom(s) or domain the test measures. Many of these tests use T-Scores. Others use standard scores when assessing IQ or achievement. These type of scores tell us our relative standing compared to the general population in the normative samples.

As someone who has PTSD and previously misdiagnosed with BPD, I wonder whether my results in all the tests she references would 'prove' I had PSTD and not BPD. Diagnostic instruments in psychology are still in their infancy, relying on a lot of assumptions, especially assumptions around gender differences.

Dr. Curry is a role model for how to speak with direct intention and clarity. She knows her field and acts with integrity. It’s so hard to reach this level of confidence as a woman and dr. Curry shows how to do it.
Perfect witness. Loved how she kept looking at the jurors when she explained Pschology and Angmbers diagnosis. Could not have been a better wittness for Johnny.

She had them stumbling over their words and she had the perfect answer for every question they asked. Perfection..

She did however try to get me arrested several times, she tried to get me fired from my job, she tried to get me in trouble with the IRS. None of her schemes worked. I got a good deal in our divorce, thanks to a great attorney and a judge who saw through her BS. My greatest revenge on her is being free and living a good life. She's still that nasty petty horrible person who is probably ruining some other poor bastards life right now. It's good to see how well Johnny is looking now. If you look back at pictures of him when he was with Heard, he looked like a broken man.

As someone practicing therapy, I'm very impressed with this doctor, she's got her line of thought extremely thoroughly backed up with extensive knowledge of what she's talking about. She's absolutely amazing, from what I've seen, metaphorically, she's like having a queen on a chess board while the opponent only has some pawns, a knight and the main target left, Depp's got the entire set still on the board.

@@trembling3674 This is not a regular therapist. This is a court appointed one for specifically determining the mental state of the defendant. That's why she said she is not the usual therapist, she is different. She relies on tests and data to make opinions and come say them in court.

@@trembling3674 she most likely signed a release form but also courts can subpoena these records whenever they want… think of any criminal case where the defendant has allegations against them and their mental health is brought up. Or custody cases. If it’s relevant it can absolutely be court ordered to be released

The psychologist IMMEDIATELY stated "No. It is the most *researched* test." (debunks the concept that the test is inaccurate and proves it was the BEST test to use)
The lawyer then IMMEDIATELY moved on from that line of questioning...

We all go through difficulties, and I think therapy could honestly prevent a lot of violence if all people had someone to talk to. (If perfect worlds existed). I wish nothing but the best for whomever she treats in the future. And even for her. Caregiving in any form is a very difficult and draining task.

This lady is my favorite witness so far because she is an undeniable expert and has methods to scientifically break down every part of the case. She is calm and collected and has a great answer for every single question that Heard's lawyers throw her way.
When Amber's lawyer tried to break her down, she stood her ground and rebutted everything she tried to throw at her. I could not have been more impressed.
Even when the subject of "muffins," came up, over and over again! Kept thinking the, Muffin man, was on trial!! Lol

Implication of her testing results: We are reasonably confident that Amber truly means what she says when describing her own experiences, however the content of her speech is unlikely to provide an accurate bearing on the actuality of the events themselves.
I love how she talks with her hands, very expressive. She is serious when she is explaining it and not playing sides.
I trust people more when they talk with their hands than when they have them in their lap. Closed in, it's like they are trying to hide something, shes not.
This Dr. Curry is an exemplary witness. Calm, focused, seasoned, knows exactly what answer will suffice most efficiently. She doesn't waste words or grandstand, she is highly intelligent, confident and strong in her sense of duty to the truth as she determined it to be according to her training, and just so professional. I'd have been eye-rolling long ago. What a gem to have in the courtroom!

unfortunately this isn't a trial to do with domestic violence of Heard towards Depp, it's a trial about whether she defamed him. I would suggest that even a monetary sanction isn't justice for the domestic violence (assuming Depp even wins)

Versus, 'Is it true that told the police that your husband kicked you to the floor so forcefully opened a wound that produced a significant amount of blood and that he then tried to cover up both your injury and the bloody evidence from the floor?'

@@luluah1198 I don’t think that’s the case with AH, but it can happen, although not typically with BPD or HPD. It’s more of a coping mechanism for a few other mental health conditions.
Curry's words "extreme levels of exaggeration" came back to me when Amber described extreme abuse and a mess of blood all over the floor and walls, only to present underwhelming evidence. Curry was spot on with this description.

Let's remember that in order to have a successful abuser, you need to find a good victim that is unwilling to leave. As we can all see in this case, not only she has mental issues but also our Johnny grew up untreated from the childhood and adolescence mental and psychological wounds of a dysfunctional family. Johnny escaped, like many do, from the pain and shame through legal/illegal drugs and alcohol. Sweeping our inner struggles under the rug it's simply an illusion. The 'out of sight, out of mind' kind of thinking is not healthy. Many of us had dysfunctional families growing up. It's definitely not our fault, however once you have the means of getting help, you must address these issues! It's very important for our own health and it helps us to make good choices in life. I have no doubt that Johnny fell in love with Amber's outer beauty and missed the signs of an abuser. Great lesson for all of us. True Johnny might have been sympathetic towards Amber during the abuse instead of judging her he might have felt like he can help her. People who experienced pain and abuse are more likely to be tolerant and may likely make excuses for their aggressor's actions until they realize they are just plain crazy or evil and there's nothing they can do about it.

100%. It takes two to tango. JD may have a defamation case against AH but he is accountable for being a willing participant for as long as he was. From a distance you can label one person the abuser and one the victim, but if you saw their lives up close on a daily basis I’m sure you’d be exasperated with how many times JD willingly walked right into her manipulation. Adults are almost always complicit in their own abuse. I’m not saying it’s easy to leave or change such situations. Just that you need to accept your own role in it. Otherwise even if you leave you’ll just find someone else to act out the same dysfunctional patterns.

The trauma bonding ensure that you stay glued to the abuser no matter how horrible things get because you start doubting your own judgement because of gaslighting. As a victim of myself, I have seen how my mental patterns changed and how hard it was to think rationally.
