    Great reaction as always.
Celine isn't being led by Luciano here; Maestro actually misses some time marks on the song, particularly at 6:55 on your video, where he actually oversings it. Around the time you commented about her being led, she is actually strategizing on pulling both her and maestro back on track and manages to change some adlibs a bit compared to the studio version to make this happen. She actually has the same problem very distinctly at the beginning of the performance herself and takes her time to perfectly adjust eventually. These are more noticeable for those of us who have heard the studio version over and over again and just goes to show how two professional seasoned legends can seamlessly maneuver their way around the orchestra and make it look like nothing happened.
This track was actually a milestone for reigniting the Pop-Opera duet spark after many years again in 1997. It actually turned these collaborations into a trend by reintroducing such beautiful cross-genre sounds into the pop world. Celine herself went on to repeat this success over and over again with the likes of Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Il Divo, Florent Pagny, and the Canadian Tenors.

Celine is a very skillful vocalist. Here she demonstrates her vocal prowess and improvisation to keep the flow of the song from any interruptions.

Don't agree with any of that, Pavarotti was and always will be the master, Celine was like a screeching cay trying to outdo him and she failed miserably, a much better much more technically correct vocals from Luciano. He drowned her out without even trying, you can see quite clearly he is trying his hardest not to overshadow Celine, he is barely opening his mouth but since his resonance is so powerful he still outperforms her in every way. If Pavarotti had sung at full strength and capacity you wouldn't even hear Celines shitty vocals

@@jackwhitbread4583 Ah the hater who unnecessarily attacks Celine. But anyway, based on many performances Celine has with multiple people, she is always the professional looking at whoever she is singing with in order to time every phrase or match their dynamics. Celine is one of most skilled vocalists, whether or not you like her voice is irrelevant.

Celine puts her whole body into her songs. Her emotive quality in her voice compliments her body movements. Both are exceptional vocalists. Love this pairing. The ending is divine. Celine really demonstrates her ethereal head voice in that climatic ending!.

I understand the art of composition and execution.. and I love the words you use to so clearly describe sounds by words and also you catch every small thing in these performances that also catches my curiosity where I feel like many other CZcamsrs would gloss over or miss those moments. Like when you stopped the video to explain the storytelling qualities to the singing as you pointed out Celine's "cry" as you call it. Like just wow you're so smart and I get so happy when I can find someone who understands music on the level I understand it on. And your energy is just so positive, I always enjoy watching your videos and they make my days better! Thank you, see you again soon. :)

Pavarotti was looking at the teleprompter in front of him because that night he add to sing with many many other singers Mariah James browns bono etc that’s why he seems not looking at Celine because he was concentrating on the teleprompter not to miss any line to sing and that is totally understandable 🤷‍♂️

I remember hearing this on the album questioning i knew the song but couldn't place it. Years later i saw a clip of Dame Shirley Bassey singing Never Never Never. Question answered lol To answer your question. Pavarotti is looking at the screen for the words. That's why he hardly looked at her. But then again, he did tend to just stand there and sing. Didn't really have to do anything else tbf.He wasn't that confident singing in english. Don't know why, he sounded amazing in whatever language. One of the reasons why he was known as the greatest tenor. A testament to celine though, her voice can mix with probably anyone's voice lol

I don't know if you'll catch this, I didn't. I think the reason Pavarotti isn't looking at Celine, is because he has a reading panel in front of him. I think he is reading the words to the song. Maybe in Italian. My friend caught it.

Pavarotti is looking forward so he can read the words, he was not comfortable singing in a non Italian language. While his English was not terrible and he could carry a conversation in English quite well he wasn't quite so confident in his ability to sing in English, hence why he is primarily known as a bel canto opera star

That sad moment when Dione sings "you make me CRY [4:40] and the word "CRY" is a hysterical mess-up, a vocal disgrace, and then next to the master of all vocals, Luciano Pavarotti. Dion was struggling to sustain a strong tone in the "CRY" and could not, and instead of showing strength in the vocal she compensated with a screaming vocal, nor could she transition down smoothly, while Pavarotty was effortlessly gliding along at every height, soaring like an eagle in the wind.
