Just got this exact box. I noticed that the plastic drawer lock sliders (whatever you call them) come out very easily (with the push of a little clip at the end on your right hand side). The drawers still stay close fairly well with the neodymium magnets at the back. Because of the drawer lock, I see no need for the lock sliders. Just my unput. Thanks for sharing

I have been using the same box since they came out, and love it. I also mounted the side tray on my box. If you put a magnet on the side of the tool box where the botton of the tray rests when folded down it will stay solid against the box. This way it won't flop around when moving the box. Making it quieter and safer since it won't hit anything. I just took apart one of the harbor freight magnet trays and use a magnet out of that.

You could add a 1/8" ( or thicker depending how tall the screws are) foam sheet and counter sink a few holes to level out the top opening to deal with the rivets while not losing substantial depth

I have the exact same box, color and everything. One of the things I noticed is that on the drawers there’s a latch that slides left to open them. If you look under them on the right side there is a tab you can push in and then pull that plastic piece out, and it will function normally without having to slide that latch to the left. The drawers will still lock

Add foam like you used on the top of the last cart in the wells to keep tools from falling thru. A piece of mdf on the top socket area under the matt is a good way to level and allows mounting stuff to it.

I have bought multiple boxes from HF a good percentage come dented but the quality is really good for the $$. One of the first things I do it spray the bearing slides thoroughly with silicone or WD40 in all the surfaces and bearings too and bottom and then pull drawer out and in a couple times. That makes all the drawers operate waaaay easier…. They were stiff before I do it. In time they prob will
Loosen up naturally but it’s nice to help right from the start

All of us at the shop use the orilys foam magnet pads on tge inside of the lid . Then all your wrenchs are hanging on the lid in hands reach and youve got another drawer.. we also use the magnetic pads to hold our loose tools in place like drivers , ratchets, exstions . I tend to keep a hand full of exstions, picks, razors, on the inside of my lid

Another idea to mounting your tray would have been take the handle off the other side, put it on the back of the tray, mark the holes, drill the tools in the tray, and then mount it on the side with the pre-drilled holes where you're not using the handle.

I have the same full bank cart in red and love it. I even did the same thing with the side tray on mine. The only difference is all of my can holders and other attachments are magnetic so I didn't have to drill holes for those and they actually fit between the rubber bumpers. I to was also irritated with that lip in the back on the top, but it really hasn't been an issue so far. I put rubber gromets in the holes on the sides to make them a little more user friendly so things didn't fall through. I've had this cart for about 4 months and still tinker with it to get it the way that I want it, with that said I love it and glad that I have it.
Great video boss, appreciate your time.

Same here. No need to drill the bottom holes for the shelf. Just use the top 2 bolts. You will never put enough force to rip them out before that small shelf is destroyed. I'll be honest I kinda think HF knew this and after all techs should figure it out.

  • @backflop912
    @backflop912 Před 2 lety +1

I bought the black one. I love it. The in store model had different cheaper wheels than the ones it came w which was weird ;). Really they could have saved $ using less metal on the sides by keeping things open like their other carts that are pass through. Although one benefit could be future mating surface for end boxes but really you'd still have that issue of getting things stuck. All these people add stuff on sides but I'd strongly suggest keeping things flat/minimal otherwise what's the point of the bumper guards? Still for $600 I give it 5 stars.
My own personal way their are 4 holes on each side for the push bar. I matched the already drilled and screwed holes to the plate on the flip table top and drilled holes into that instead of the toolbox. Really I just wanted to make it appear like it came that way. I like what one user did which was to buy a cheap cutting board cut it to size and drill w.e size holes you needed for you breaker bars/ratchets extensions etc.
To summarize I'd definitely recommend anyone to buy this box. $600 vs any of the other tool trucks carts. Good luck finding a full bank cart on sale for anything less than a grand.. W all of harbor freight deals and discounts you could prob find it for even less.

    Nice job,
I have been looking at this box and some planned mods if I go with it would be one maybe two 22"W x 36L" 3/4" plywood folding shelfs on each end with pull/push handles built in, swivel locks on two of the casters so they can be locked straight when needed, small HF vise that can be mounted when needed then stored out of sight, fold away ladder hooks to haul 4', 6' or 8' ladders and a small folding step stool stored under the folding shelf.
I work at a hospital so keeping tools and parts secure and at the tool box is extremely important, my biggest concern is the weight of the box itself empty plus all I'll stuff in it as I'll be rolling this all over the building.
I'm working out of a work supplied U.S.General 5 drawer box but it is a bit small and the flip up top and how it unlocks the drawers is a pain, I don't want to mod their box.

As far as the pry bar holes being too large, you could cut a piece of thin gauge sheet steel (from Home Depot/Lowe's etc.) To fit the recessed holder areas and measure out and mark the hole centers. Then use a hole saw to drill holes in the plate that would be a better size fit and use it as an insert in the recessed over the holes to make it more useable and not lose any real space. Could paint it to match with epoxy paint or spray with black undercoating or truck bed coating to somewhat match the black accents.

@@MikeJones-tx7hw Yea I saw that, I heard it isn't as good as the 12v though. to be honest, my whole main reason for getting a powered ratchet is to get it into tight spaces, so I'll prob just get a decent air ratchet as they're way cheaper, don't rely on batteries, and way smaller.

@@PoorManMods you're right cordless tools have taken their place but corded impact wrenches suck. All the technology to make the tools better and stronger goes into cordless ones. Electric impact wrenches get the oldest technology so they have no power and you're still tethered to a cord. at least with an air impact wrench you get one that has some guts.

Im not sure about Mac, but for snap-on, just because its snap-on does not mean it's made in America
Also, I'm not going to spend triple or quadruple the amount of money for the sake of supporting America when I need to support myself first. For the amount of money I have invested in this toolbox and all the tools in it, I could probably buy a similar snap-on box and a screwdriver set and that's about it. And I would not be able to perform any work.
