Getting upside down is one of the most fun things you can do on your skis! Back flips are super fun to do and they always turn heads! And the best part is that even though they're super impressive, they're actually really easy to do once you get the hang of them. Before trying to get upside down, make sure you are comfortable spinning 5's and 7's on large jumps in the park. While the skills are different, you need to be really comfortable in the air so this is a good place to start.
Back flips are huge! They're a really impressive trick and super fun to do! Once you get them down in the park you can step them up to bigger jumps and maybe even out in the big mountain off some cliffs! After mastering back flips, you can move onto trying different flips like rodeos, flat spins, and corked spins!

As if everyone learning backflips has access to all these resources to learn. Just do it a bunch on a trampoline and fucking go for it that's how I learned
Tristan Radeka He talks about an alternative to air bags, and the only other resource is a pool with a diving board.
I think that's how most people do it lol.
Tristan Radeka I don’t have access to these resources
yeah same i just sent em into pow ull get the hang of it so quickly

I have a final exam. Why the hell am I watching this? I can barely 180...
hahahaha wtf
Me2 😅
Procrastination man haha
+DJZaza I have an exam in an hour and I am watching this too. I am going to the Alpes next week and backflip is my next milestone so atleast I have a reason to watch it.
niiiice
Best way to learn is from experience. Just go of the x game jumps and hope you land it. Best way

Lmao
@@MjoedDrikkar of the flippest
bruh those jumps are huge hell no
Athletes only🦍
I’ve once done a flip on accident and now I’m watching this video to know how to do a proper flip
Milo Pilo Did a 720 once, sprained my wrist but looked awesome!
Same
Haha I was there when the guy was doing backflips and frontflips on the jump at Camp of Champions!
I bet it's a lot easier to learn all those tricks where this guy is making this video. Problem is, not everyone lives in the west where all of your landings are cushioned by powder . You see, here in the East, we have this...stuff. It's really cold and hard and very slippery. I think it's called "ice". Just try sending it a few times over here and you'll see what I mean.
"I think it's called 'ice'" lmfao
im also a guy who hasnt got powder or airbag, just gotta send it
Machinist64 well it just so happens that I too live on the icy east coast. Have you landed a backflip yet? If so do you have any tips on how to send your first one without dying? I don’t have a car so even if we did have a snowy day I can’t drive out to a hill and make a jump.
When I get the balls to try this in the icy east I got a feeling it won't be a good day lol
No way I'm doing that in Quebec, the most I'll do is a 360.
i cant 180 on skis i cant 360 i cant even grab ... but i can do backflip ... done it 3 times
Thomas Holthe how did you learn it
how, how do you learn
JGMedia you have to get out of your comfort zone and just do it cuz your brain will never say do it.
@@ileana5299 just send it
Same here! Just gotta send it right!
I can do flips well on a trampoline, but I don't have access to an airbag or anything so I'm just going to have to go for it I guess.
@@SkiAddiction I don't have a pair of tramp skis and I can't really afford a nice pair, Is there a more affordable way to do it without spending 300 dollars on a pair of tramp skis.
@@Garin-BRi some tramp parks will have rentals
Just watched it and once i get more comfortable with my 360s ill try this out! Great video, subbed!
Great vid, I'm glad your putting out more content again!
i used to perfectly be able to perform back flips and gainers in the swimming pool. but then i got high one time, so i didn't have good coordination and misjudged the jump and split open my head on the board. i keep pussying out on doing this
Same, but I almost broke my neck on a tramp
Thanks for sick tutorial, stomped my first backflips yesterday! Just gotta make sure you pop and not afraid of speed
+allycat365 go with some decent speed cause you need good air. Otherwise you'll under rotate and the front of your tips will hit the ground, sending you to a face plant..... Hahah I've done that before
Ok, if your questioning wether to try a backflip or not remember this. About my 7th time ever skiing and before i even landed a 3, i still landed a backflip and lincoln loop. If you can backflip on the ground as i knew how to, then go for it on a small kicker and do the same as you would on the ground. It feels the same on skis as on the ground for me. For the lincoln, if you can sideflip, or tunnel flip(even better) on the ground then a lincoln should come pretty natural although i do not recommend on a very small jump unless your tucking really close. Hope this helps! Btw if you can't do anything on the ground yet, but can back or dub back on a tramp, you will still most likely be able to land. Just commit and youll find its a very simple trick. For me easier than 3's
3s is still much easier in my opinion
Austinr55 yeah especially cuz u don’t have to worry about catching an edge
bullshit... you don't need to be able to do 5s and 7s for this
***** "5's and 7's are actually harder but backflips are more dangerous". Exactly, this is the important point.
+Linus De My first trick on skis was a frontflip hahaha I went straight to the park no pow, no airbag. I have been training acrobatics for a long time tho..
+santa same here(I don't do acrobatics though), but I did that for backflip, frontflip and flatspin, and this year I'm trying rodeo and misty.
+santa same here(I don't do acrobatics though), but I did that for backflip, frontflip and flatspin, and this year I'm trying rodeo and misty.
Learned this after 3s, but you should know how to flip on a tramp
Thanks a tonne you guys should do more trick tips!
very helpful since I'll try do do backflips next holiday :D
I have the same skis! Salomon Suspects! Respect!
Haha I do everything backwards. I cant land a 180 off a mini jump but am so at ease with backflips. I've only skied 8 days in my life so I dont know much of anything but this video helped allot, thanks!
Thanks so much ill go work on it next weekend
Thanks SkiingAddiction, with your video i have done my first backflip this winter :D
Backflip Versuch - Verbier Switzerland - Gopro Hero 3 Black Edition
almost ur first backflip
I've been skiing for 6-7 years and I've been able to do a backflip on the trampoline for 3 years. I'm pretty comfortable on medium sized park jumps. I usually get 8-12 feet of air. Is that enough room to try it and should I go for it?
Excellent video! Love the green jacket on 0:24, what brand is it? Thanks a lot!
Awesome video!
This video helped a ton!
Nice tutorial!
Only ever threw Backflips off a 20ft. into a lake, decided to do it off a 12-15ft ski jump bc I knew I had the rotation...once u backflip confidently into snow, water, foam, tramp, whatever else... you're gravy to grow. it's all about getting over the mental
Hey, what is the intro song to your videos? Love your tutorials!
Where abouts is this located/filmed it looks super nice.
I have a HUGE question. Its my 2nd year and I can only go off ramps and ski slide a rail... I just got skis so I was wondering if I should get them sharpened all the way are just the middle? Thanks
Helps me a lot
Awesome Vid, Massive-Thanks !!!! What's the name of the Tune at the beginning please ???? :D
what if I'm going fairly late in the season and there sit any powder or air bags to practice on, i would have to go straight to the parks. I have mastered it on the trampoline. thanks for your help :)
Thanks helped a lot
Thanks for the new video, guys! Got a question:
The video states: to perform a backflip - pop up, drive knees up to set a rotation (that is how it is done on a trampoline), but in the last part of the video (park jumps) it looks like the rotation is set by the shoulders - legs and knees are kinda catching up. So how do you set rotation when you jump from a regular park kicker (with straight legs/without driving your knees up) - do you use your shoulders or your hips?
Hello Sneg, a little bit late hahah, when you jump a park jump you usually set the rotation with your hips, if you want to spin faster you tuck your knees, but if you want to spin slower and do the jump more steezier you straight up your legs to a slower rotation, hope you understand! My English is not so good
I dont have many gymnastics areas nearby, and I dont have any airbags in my ski resort, so Im just gonna try it
excellent song choice
I've been doing gymnastic trampolining for years, and am very confident with going upside down and twisting in the air, above a trampoline. I've also done downhill skiing for many years. But how do I get into freestyle skiing like this? How can I "transfer" the trampoline skills to the kickers?
i love whistler, live right near it too, lol
helped me! Landed it first try
thanks i can do a back flip and it is, fun
I feel like this video has prepared me enough to just try it on a jump.
Just learned em today on a park jump. No practice at all. Bad idea. Got em down but it really hurt.
If I don't have a trampoline or pool in the town is it ok to try it directly with skies?
Will it be dangerous to try backflips onto an airbag off a ramp if you're not perfect at skiing. I can do backflips flat and off stuff.
what about some chopped up ice? will that do the trick as a soft landing?
I wish there was this kind of facility in my Country of the UK
is it hard to get the rotation down with the skies on or is it natural
If I've backflipped on an airbag many times and stuck the landing should I try it on snow
If you are also able to do a reverse flip (gainer) off a diving board, you can get more comfortable with the movement of a backflip on skis.
I made a big promise to my friends i said that i would do a backflip in the next winter but now i just need to practise all summer.... even thou i cant do a backflip on the trampoline but now practising
@mike faa not really but remember your riding forward when jumping on skis;)
Honestly, backflip is one of the easiest things to do on skis. I learned them this year, although i have been skiing for eleven. Only because i was afraid of doing them. But i master backflips on trampoline, and feel comforteble and the only thing about doing it on skis is that its a bit scarier. but just make a jump in the pow, over a drop or something. The jump should be made so that it helps to start the rotation. And simply just try! It won't kill you if the powder is deep. My friend landed on his back the first time, and he was fine! But don't pull out in the middle of it! Thats the reason my friend failed. Even though he also is good at backflips and other stuff in the air. You will most likely go around if the jump is right!
I have a question for you mate. I'm a very skilled skier, and have been skiing for almost 13 years now. Most of the time, i have been doing backcountry and normal alpine skiing, and have just recent grown interrested in the park. I have mastered the 180 last year, and have landed some 360's. I do not have a trampoline, nor is one avalible for me. Would it be reckless to try out doing a backflip, without practice on trampolines?
I'm 19 btw, so still young and fit :)
AndersFrom if you going to do it,make sure you don't get afraid in air while doing it because failing a backflip is mostly out of fear..so you have to be 100% confident when you hit the jump..
AndersFrom No, but i would try to do backflips into water first, just to get more confident while you are upside down! :) Good luck!
i have been jumping trampoline for 6 years. and i can land a back all the times i think i did 100 with no fails but i can't do 540 on jumps do u think i can meke it?
this guy has to live in Alaska
The Boss it’s in whistler
how bad is it if you actually neck? i can already do them on tramp, on solid ground and i even went as far as bringing my skis on a tramp and successfully doing a backflip. i doubt i’ll neck if i commit but i’m just scared of breaking my neck or somethinh
wow *.*das will ich auch können im schnee
I can backflip on ground really well so do u think I can do it on skiis
I can do 360 and hit rails on skis and lookin to do backflip next winter
coooool
Could you try this on a medium sized park jump that's like 10 feet?
2J SkateSquad that’s what I did
You don’t really have to learn any 180’s or anything, most people make it seem harder than it actually is. As long as you can backflip on a trampoline it’s easy.
why can't this awesome tutorials be free...? they are the best ski tutorials ever but upload the whole video...
i can do backflips on the ground and even doubles on a trampoline and i land on the same spot i jumped of. at this year we are skiing 7th time in my life and where we ski there are no airbags(germany) or other things where i can learn flips. the thing is that my backflips are very save. should i try it or should i let it be? i can do backflips in a skatepak too. (scooter)
Yes of course
Go for it, it's a super easy trick and it feels just like trampoline.
can you do backflips with pols and tuck in the air
Is it better the do a backflip with pols our not because I feel more comfortable with pols
with pols
Would if your ski mountain doesn’t have a air bag???
I got my first skis to birthay and i want to lern a backflip after one year😛 so this will help a lot and i can backflip on trampoline so after a year mabye
learn it on the ground and off a wall and you got it. also not as hard as it looks
I can do it on tramps I want to do it on snow what can I do Maybe I can build an own ramp in soft snow is that an good idea
i am afraid that if i do the backflip my skis wil get caught up in the disaster or that i will not get too far, what can i do about this?
so I've tried on air bags but my rotation isnt far enough, do I need to throw back more or what?? Also if ya dont have access to pool or trampoline but im used to the whole motion, am I safe in just fucking going for it???
is it important to have trick ski, or can you do it also on normal ski?
How good are you is the question. If you don't ski every weekend and arent super devoted then don't do it.
I can backflip on a scooter, do you think I can do it easily on skis?
not easily, but easier. its a similar yet very different movement, like he said try tramp first
30 second intro... niiiiiiiiiiiiiice
so only the green-jacket guy is actually tucking in the knees (i.e. 7:38)? others are just throwing the arms or using the rotation created from the take off?
Tuck your knees when you are learning but not tucking adds style.
Honestly it's good to have all these resources, but most don't have access to airbags. As long as your comfortable with it on a tramp and can do some sort of gainer on a tramp you can go for it. I learned it by just going for it. If you have access to these resources use them but if not just go for it
yeah
Gymnastics center... certified coach.... Lol!
I hucked my first backflip off a 50ft kicker. When did skiing get so lame?
I can do a back flip on solid ground, but not on skis. 0,o something is wrong. When I land, I always violently slip backward. When I try to spin slower I just landed on my neck without completing a full turn. HALP!!
Can't wait to try again next season.
go double ;)
good idea
I'm a gymnast and a skier and a snowboarder so i thin i can do it!
I can do 30 backflip in a row on a trampoline. Like... Backflip, jump, backflip, jump. Can i maybe try it on skis now?
Charlie Tilney Ok. Cool thanks
The pool that they showed is like rly close to where I live lolol I've been there like 10 times
where is it??
It's in Vancouver under a bridge
i know how to backie on a tramp pool and scooter and comfortable in the air? should i straight send it?
cheers man
Yeah that’s what I did but I couldn’t on a scooter or anything on scooters your sending it to concrete so 1 you will already be able to and 2 if you fuck up it won’t hurt
i do backflips from all highs up to 7.5 meters in the swimming pool. Can i start on the big jumps?
When in trouble tuck for a double
Idk, water and snow are the same thing but are in two different states. (that was a joke)
this is at whistler right?
yep
Wish I could try this but this is too expensive overall
I dont have frestyle ski but in can do auch 180 with normal ski?
You could, but your back ski might get stuck in the snow.
What is intro song
i have done back flips from 7.5 meteres to water and trampolines are my second name but im so scared to it on skis
ps. sorry for bad london :D
whats the name of song in the background?
Minus - Hasdeu
Do how to cork
Does knowing how to do it on flat ground help(not on skis)
Rio Giancarlo for sure
are backflips on tramps a lot different then on skis?
No really exept more weight on ur feet
the important thing is to always remember to put a marge for the landing, not like this: /watch?v=cZ9RD_XsFnY
Its really not to sound stupid at all, but what is it, that makes backflips so dangerous? Because of the rotation needed, u would very unlikely land on your head, or what?
i can Backflip on a Tramp and from diving Boards both 1meter 3meters do you think its time to try to backflip on skis
+lil RipTide Try working on it more with POW jumps. water jumps or air bag jumps, like he said in the video. The first time i did a back flip i was able to do it in my local pool, and when i went straight to my skis it did not end well. Try to practice as much as you can beforehand.
ok but like i do backflip solid on flatground and wallflips so im not sure
If you're really comfortable on tramps, like combos of three or four, then go for it
I landed a backie (albeit not the most stylish in the world) before I could do a 5 or 7.
why am i watching this i have only been skiing once lol
0:35 song?
i could do backies way before my first 3 lol
Lol I didn't know ski addiction was a thing I thought it was just snowboard
ok i tried backflip on half a meter high jump made by my hands and i did it for 1st time :D just swing and dont be afraid lol thats all about it
What's easier, a frontflip or a backflip?
CalebTheSkier for skiing, a backflip because you already are on the right angle going up. Standing and on ground it would be easier to do a front flip
