- Hey Guys and Girls, we have a chill drive up Genting in one of the most iconic cars, a very rare and well preserved BMW E46 M3 that belongs to another Malaysian driving icon, Ivan Khong.
This video should be watched with high volume, so you can hear the sweet roar of the straight six, with individual throttle bodies.
Ivan has put a lot of tender love and care into this car - great job, Ivan, and thanks for letting me take your mother out for a chill drive up Genting. We had a great time

When I bought my old 987 Boxter S, family in Malaysia said "Nobody drives open top cars in Malaysia lah....too hot". Well watching you and others on CZcams driving convertibles in Malaysia and having fun tells me more about my extended family than my choice of car 👍

I now hv E92.i had E46Ci. to find an M3, is stil ok.but find M3 Cabrio WITH manual transmission, is very very rare.congratulation Mr Khong.u r vry lucky n blessed wth a vry nice Ultimate Driving Machne
i owned the coupe 46m3 couple years ago, finally got it back with a open top. No doubt, the best M3 ever drove.

Hahaha, we have very similar lives, except that you don't have a son like Ivan, who can let you have an M3 ( or two) to drive. But you can have a couple of son in laws later ( just make sure they have a M3 before you approve) LOL
Uncle, just an idea here, how about rating the cars that you drive handling wise. So that viewers can have the basic idea of the car. Cause for me I always wonder what its like driving all these cars but I don't have the resources or "cable" to actually test drive any of them🤣 I'm sure with your vast experience, you are more than qualified to do it. 👍👍

When there is a traffic jam uphill..which tranmission type more liable to get overheated?
Manuals are less likely to be overheated. All others will heat up somewhat, some more than others, depending on usage
@@YSKhongDriving Thank you for your advice. I always use your review on the cars you drive up Genting as a benchmark cos if you drive any car from Penang till Batang Kali you will not see much til you start the uphill climb.
Ths S54 6 inline comes wth individual throttle bodies. the same engine in Z4M, E86. most ppl saying its has crispy spontaneous throttle feel.i hvnt try

Get the wind deflector and you won't feel any of the cool air. It could be 30 degrees out and you won't feel a thing, and it looks good...lol

You got M3 with a manual....rare gem...mainly I saw is a SMG gearbox
All the SMG can be converted to manual.

Uncle YS Khong, usually when you drive up to Genting your hair is usually neat, but in this video did you bring the hair gel and comb along?
Forgot to gel up the hair. The wind got to it this time and it was really a CHILLy drive, hahaha. Very cold.

It has to be a good condition one, or else it will break.
The next time one see a lady with messed up hair in Genting one can confidently ask 'You must be uncle YS other half and had just being driven up here in a convertible right?'.

Everything is instinctive. If you have to think about what to do, you are already too late.
That is why some people go to advanced driving classes - so they can learn how to drive. Over-correction is also potentially disastrous - so as you can see from the video, it is all over in a split second, but if no corrective action is taken, the car will have flown into the centre divider.

Only 1 slight tail out situation. I think there must have been a small spot of oil, plus a bit of water. It stepped out all on its own.

Once an Inspira passed me, and once, a beat up Saga overtook me on the way down when I slowed for the humps - he flew over them. The Inspira must have been a local - he passed me in heavy fog: visibility was like 10 feet.
