  • For the low low price of $40 you too could buy a knife to gouge out your ears!
The AtGames Sega Genesis is a travesty... I guess for $1 per game it's alright, but half the magic is the music and without the Soundchip it desecrates what some (me included) would consider sacred.

Oh my god. This reminds me about one pirated NES-console, that was sold on these hoax advertisement magazines back in the late 90's and the console was fitted inside Nintendo 64-controller. It had 120 games. From which 12 was the actual games, other 108 were just copies of the 12 actual games, with different names. It was hooked to TV with RCA-wires and had separate power cord with converter and mono sound only.
It was the biggest waste of money till this day. Makers of those should be on jail because of that. And they made a huge amount of copyright violations.

Well whatdayano! I got the same thing for Christmas! I haven't played all of the games on it, but thanks to you I don't have to! Since you didn't cover the wireless controllers, I'll go ahead and explain them: Playing with one controller actually works really well. Playing with two controllers, however, is freaking impossible! The signal intercept each other, making both players' control jam up and lock into certain actions. On top of that, the Player 2 controller operates on the same frequency as my television remote, meaning that while we were playing, the controller would randomly bring up the settings menu and change them or outright change the input away from the game!

I made the same exact mistake as you, man! I asked for this for Christmas and almost immediately regretted not doing any research on this "console." I ended up selling it on Craigslist and putting the money towards portable Super Nintendo (the Supaboy is very enjoyable, I might add).
The audio for the Sonic and Knuckles AtGames music has a funny mono quirk in the video. As a earbud user, I only had the right earbud in, but the music came out of the left earbud. So, when you were criticizing the AtGames music, I got really confused because I didn't hear any music at all.
Speaking of music, great choice of Sonic music in the background throughout the video!

The handheld version is in all probability the same system on a chip as this, but the community loves the handheld one but hates this one.
      I wonder why that is?
Is it because the handheld version has an SD card slot that allows for them to steal ROM's.
The ROM's will still play the same way, so why would one be better than the other?
It would be logical to assume that the handheld version would be worse since it is tiny screen.
Some people just seem to like doing illegal things and don't actually care about the quality of the games.
Also, IF they admit that the included games play decent enough, then why all the hyperbolic bad reviews?

Not to mention it has a fix for the audio problem, which the TV-only version cannot use.

As for the Model 1, i would recommend the consoles from August 1989 - Early June 1991, with the High Definition Graphics engravement on the back of the cartridge slot since it lets you play 3 games which were unlicensed at the time: Budokan and Zany Golf from Electronic Arts and Accolade's Ishido - Way of the Stones.

I got suckered into buying one of these, I wanted to play Shining Force 2 on it and the battery back up didn't work.
It wouldn't save my game :( Also the controllers it comes with use IR sensors giving them a delay making them
essentially useless. I've used the Sega official wireless controller in the past and it didn't seem to have this problem ether,
it also used an IR sensor. which just tells me that the controllers the Atgames console comes with are just garbage.
It doesn't use the original hook ups or expansion slot so you can't use it with a 32X or the sega CD ether. But I wonder if it will work
with other peripheral's like the powerbase converter, game genie, enforcer gun or the menacer gun.

Color Puzzle took me a few minutes to get. Even the help page wasn't very clear at first.
There's two words displayed: the Meaning and the Color. They both illustrate two colors each: the color written in the word, and the color you see of the word itself. For instance, let me use the help page's example.
You see the Meaning "blue", but it's written in black letters. The Color is the word yellow, but it's written in blue letters. The mystery you must solve (yes or no) to is: does the actual COLOR of the Color word match the color in the Meaning's word? In this case, yes.
Easier explanation: For the "Meaning", ignore the color of the letters, and just read what the word says. It says blue. For the "Color", ignore the word, and just focus on the color of the letters. The letters are colored blue. So yes, in this case, the Meaning matches the Color.
Damn, I have to admit, this really was a good puzzle. Even after I figured it out, during the game I kept temporarily losing my grip on the understanding of it and getting the whole thing twisted up. I kept losing at least twice in each game. Dominant Color was a good kind of puzzle too, the way it flips things around from time to time just to get you.
Also, I'm gonna risk the scornful comments and admit I liked the music in this game. It wasn't bad. At first I was like "well, Black Sheep's music isn't good, but at least it's LESS bad than the rest of the game music" but now I've found something that I actually kind of enjoy. And Black Sheep's puzzle isn't that challenging either.

More explanations if you didn't figure them out:
In Curling (probably self explanatory), you just have to use A to throw the balls to the other side against the other player. You win if you get all of them over on his side. The game continues until either player's side is full and the other's is empty (the winner).
Logic Dial: starts off easy, usually only requiring one rotation to finish, but getting progressively harder (duh). Your goal is to rotate the numbers clockwise in 2x2 sections until the order is unscrambled and goes from 1-16 correctly left to right, from top to bottom. Eventually it starts to feel kind of Rubik's Cubey.
Mahjong: AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! (and what's with that krazy remix of Jack's Pea? That game's music was already bad enough. They double-timed the horrible quality of the song and barfed it into Mahjong.)
Match Eleven: The goal is to gather card combos that equal exactly eleven each, no more, and find as many matches as you can to empty the main row. Deal more from the deck if you can't find matches. Once you empty the main row, it will fill up again with even more cards than before. Some will be recycled from your original row and are therefore unusable, so don't get mixed up or you'll be sorry!!!
Memory: The objective is to unveil the 25 matching pairs in as few steps as possible. Simply flip cards around until you find one that matches a previously flipped card. They will cancel each other out. You can only have up to nine unmatched cards revealed at once, which makes the game more difficult. Revealing a tenth unmatched card will flip the first of the previous nine back to its blank side. To reduce the number of steps taken, try to remember the re-blanked cards without flipping them over until you find their matches in the blanks that have not yet been revealed.
Miniball Jam: Mostly randomized, though there is some pattern logic to it, and you do get to choose your configuration. You have to find the right combination of releases to free every single miniball from the machine because of its "strange rules".
Mirror Mirror: Also quite difficult, but easy enough to understand. Just turn your head sideways to make the game less difficult when trying to find the matching squares on the mirrored side, the orientation of which is determined by the L at the corner.
Panic Lift: Another memory game. Too bad these people aren't nice enough to remind you of the floor they want when the elevator starts getting stacked with people. If more than five people enter the elevator, it breaks and everyone falls to their deaths.
Space Scramble: Honestly, pretty easy. Their methods and tricks are easy to figure out and get past. The alien is just a distraction to make you focus less on the numbers, and the random squares and circles attempt to distract you from seeing the alien. They hope that you'll not see the true alien quickly enough and accidentally select a spot where a shape was rather than the alien. There's no correlation between the aliens and the equations. Not a very good one.
Tanuga Tiles: Very similar to Klax, using a board with moving pieces. The goal is to capture all 5x5 rows with colors matching by the order displayed. In round 1, they must match left to right, vertical doesn't matter. In round 2, they must match vertically, rows don't matter. In round 3 and onward, the rules shift depending on which row you're on, and soon they become timed as well, resetting faster and faster the longer you last. Overall the hardest game in the entire bonus section, in my opinion.
Warehouse Keeper: Did anyone else notice the horrible remix of Jewel Magic?! At least in Jewel Magic, the music is SOMEWHAT listenable!!!

Sonic and Knuckles is not the sequel to Sonic 3, it's the second half of Sonic 3, when you lock Sonic 3 on top, it makes it the Complete Experience. Sonic 3 And Knuckles.

I mean its quite anoying your A button is not working all the time. if you would try wireless controlerss you would see they do not record all the buttons you pressed. I got the same system but I have sent it away, I also did not like it.

Ya see that's what I'm saying, a lot of people are really laying into me for not using a better controller, and there is one reason I don't feel that's necessary, these game only need 1 button to work like sonic, but instead of saying "all buttons work" they make it the A button!! the least used button on the controller, reserved for special attacks.

I would guess the reason why Sonic 3 is not on the system is cause of the soundtrack rights situation. The fact that Michael Jackson had a hand in the soundtrack for the game but was then taken off of it when he was accused of fiddling with kids. While he did depart the project many of the songs still in the game are in fact still songs he created. This is the same reason why the later port to PC of the game changed the music and why ports of the game after that just never have really materialized.

Good video. I grew up playing Genesis on an old TV with no sound so I didn't really notice the music. It's not a bad little system for what it is, a handful of classic Genesis games and a few crappy extras. It plays all of my cartridges fine and it's so small and easy to set up, unlike my actual genesis. The only real complaint I have is the IR controllers, they suck. I prefer to use an actual Genesis controller, which thankfully is supported by this console.

  • @AmaroqStarwind
    @AmaroqStarwind Před 6 lety +1

And the worst part is it doesn't even use an actual System-on-Chip with compatible hardware, but instead uses some kind of really freaking bad emulator.

As long as the TV looks okay and my camera quality's good enough, I'd rather do the cheaper way.
