When i was young, my father used to set me in his lap whilst he played GT1 & 2. He had Gran Turismo 4 for four years before i was old enough to play splitscreen with him and while, i had no clue what i was doing, i was having the time of my life. When 5 came out i was just 8 and i watched him play that too. He explained racing lines, over steer and under steer, braking zones and such. In 2014 he passed away due to cancer, and i turned to Gran Turismo 5 to cope and slowly started improving then i took a break after a while. in 2016 when i turned 14 my mom got me GT6 and i fell in love all over again. Currently im 16 and racing around Project Cars 2 on my ps4 on just a pad. while both an actual FF Steering Wheel and GTSport are far out of my reach rn (broke as hell) im saving up so i can revisit old games with a wheel and play plenty of new ones to come. Im eternally grateful to my father for sparking my love for cars and racing and Gran Turismo will always have a special place in my heart.

Get a Logitech g29, and GTsport.
The Logitech is the best quality you can find in that price bracket. A lot of people will tell you thrust master and fanatek make better stuff, and while that might be technically true, they always omit the price, which is usually twice that of a Logitech, or more, which makes it hard to recommend to a beginner. The Logitech is 'cheap', has metal where it matters, and feels perfectly fine. FFB is a bit muddy compared to some of the finer fanateks, though nothing too bad, I feel like FFB depends more on the game with that wheel. PC2 has absolutely wonderful FFB settings that work very well with any wheel, and GTsport doesn't,and how well it works with your wheel, well, that's up to luck.
As for PC2, you really should be playing sport instead. PC2 is unpredictable. At first I loved having to work for it, constantly being on the edge, expecting the unexpected. All my friends, even the ones that race F1 games competitively agree that PC2 is just... Unpredictable. It does stuff it shouldn't. Also puddles in the rain fuck you like there is no tomorrow.
GTsport gets the balance right. As my friend Dimitar said, "it's a racing simulator for the people".
I heard GTsport is on sale RIGHT now if you have PS+.

There is a wheel mod available for pcsx2.
If you meant on original / Sony hardware in general, no. Even though gt4 supports some wheels, it doesn't support the g29.
Eh, maybe im wrong about the playstation. Maybe there is some workaround that I haven't tried, but I know for certain that it works on pcsx2. However: there is little to no force feedback, which matters more than you think!

I never knew that GT3 had a professional mode in Arcade. Incidentally, we're still waiting for Nike to announce they're making a sports car.

Gran Turismo 4 is the very essence of the original game raised to its maximum power, and although GT Sport has a very innovative (and actual) approach, it has sacrificed many things that gave the saga all its personality. For me GT4 is still the reference.

La verdad es que echo en falta un juego que me diera tantas horas, le he metido mas de 500 horas y aún sigo metiéndole en emulador. Ojala volviera ese Gran Turismo que te enseñaba sobre la historia del automovilismo y te dejaba conducirla.

Shame that game itself was sucks... i still got a Ps2, and very bad to say, but i really think Gt4 it's such a spoil of good features and technical impressive, but game play is awful. ... shame that they did not used same physic engine of Gt3, which was the best of all the serie for me 😢😢😢

@@bappos_on_cracko4394 then help me out to understand to handle supercars in Nordschleife and Le Mans... as i touch the analog stick, or even think about using the brake , the cars start to do 360 endless...
I got a Ps2 here on my side... and kinda often, i try give a possibility to this game, but every time ( when i drive supercars on those tracks ), i end with frustration...
In my opinion, they went too far, for a game that is been intended to be played with pad... there is no way to fix that problem just tuning the car, so don't try tell me it is a matter of tuning... i really loved the game, till i beat my nose in that awful issue...
In my opinion GT3, is the best and the most balanced in the whole series

I still play GT4 to this day. In fact, I found a visual glitch recently that you may not know! Here's what you need to do:
1. Take one of the Daimler Carriages for a time trial and save a ghost of it.
2. Then change to another car where your driver wears a different racing gear (Chapparal 2J, Nissan R92CP, Nike 2022, Formula 1, etc.)
3. Go to time trial mode on the same track where you saved your ghost and load that ghost data.
4. Congratulations! You now see the ghost driver missing at least 50% of its body!
For a bonus, if you saved a ghost using the motorwagen (the one with three wheels) and beat it, you can see your new ghost car missing a wheel. Let me know your results!
Plot twist: Viper didn't use cheats to have all those credits, he actually just played that much.

@@joshuaxiong8377 Yeah, I use Cheat Device and it's cool to buy any car and part I want or have blazing fast acceleration, as well as make Ratchet levitate to wherever in the map and destroy anyone.

When GT3 was unveiled i remember i was spending a lot of time playing GT2 with my friend's psx. That step forward in graphic was something unusual and totally new to see in that era, we were speechless. Now times are changed, I think I'll never have the same feelings again. Things like these can't repeat nowadays

@@justinl2009 gt psp was good for a quick half hour of fun at a time but not much more even if I did play the hell out of it, though that was mostly because I kept getting grounded and had my PS2 taken away a lot when I was young lol.

Me too. It's called "Moon over the castle" and features in all japanese version GT's intro. Don't know why they didn't use it in PAL/NTSC versions until GT4...

GT4 is the only game I played until my thumbs literallly hurt, and instead of stop playing I just changed the way I pressed buttons. Also I forgot to blink while playing and my eyes got red.

@@semmelboesel I was playing pressing X to accelerate with the joint of my thumb and pressing square to brake with the tip of my thumb (if that makes any sense). Then I had to accelerate and brake with only the tip of my thumb.
Those good old times when you accelerate with X and brakes with square and also the Back-Button were Triangle and not the Circle, like today :D

GT4 was to the best racing game ever . We had to use our brains ( skyline driving mission at Test Course ),make prevision not to miss the Special hidden black Cars . And I'm sure I'm not the only one hating on that Nissan R92CP on the final Professionnal championship . Thank you viperconcept for bringing back those good memories to us .

"Moon Over the Castle" is the best game song ever! I always smile when i listen to it. The only thing that made me sad was the chase cam introduced in GT4, I hate it until today.

Yeah, GT Sport removed those features...
I miss visual customisation the most (excluding liveries, which I love making)
and tuning the car by parts( upgrading the turbo, suspension, all that things, not with levels of power and weight)

i´m not crying, just a gt4 crashing in my eye, I remember the first time as if it was yesterday that I played this game, it was and is one of the best moments of my life, this game meant everything to me, and part of what I am and what I do was due to this game, I dedicated it to him countless hours for years and I still have great memories of happiness and frustration with this game on my ps2, thanks for reviewing it, although the mythical resistance tests were missing ...

Those werent just random Formula 1 cars, they are the F1 cars Ayrton Senna drove in his entire F1 career. They didnt get the license but they did copy almost every detail from the Lotus, Mclarens and the Williams ayrton drove
but mixed and matched the parts, the Williams wing on the back of the Mclaren and vice versa.
Only four were Senna's (F687/s, F688/s, F090/s and F094/s). The other two were driven by Nigel Mansell (F686/m) and Damon Hill (F094/h), respectively.
Thank you so much for bringing up so many good memories! After watching this, I ordered a AV to HMDI switch so I can connect my good ol' friend to my TV again to experience this once again!

Ahh GT3. The very first game I ever played and the game that kick started my love for both motorsports and cars! Still have my original copy of the game to this day and even play it at least once a week.

I play GT3 a lot still, and I've collected all 126 of the cars that are aren't playable via Single Race no matter what.
Out of the 181 (?) cars in the game, 18 of them were placed in the wrong class.
I won't go through them all unless someone asks, but a few examples are these:
A bone stock Shelby Cobra is considered an S Class car in Single Race, when it should be A Class.
The RUF CTR2, Spoon S2000 Race Car, Pagani C12S, Mine's BNR34 Skyline, and a few others were considered S Class when they're actually best suited for A Class.
I'm not sure if a lot of people already know about this, because I've seen no discussion about it online.
Class A has a "soft cap" of sorts where cars that are above the specs of Japanese sports cars tend to be placed in s class. This isn't always the case, but it was certainly more prevalent in gt2.
As for the race cars you mentioned, since they have racing modifications, they are automatically considered s class, even through realistically they should be in a class between a and s.

GT3 still my fav..ive completed every single one of them up till 5..Currently playing Sport....But GT3 just had this sense of speed like none of the other games. That first moment you turned it on your family was like is that real? Now, it just looks way to colorful and glossy. GT3 was just....it.....Not knocking any of the other games but after playing all of them, just cannot let go of that thrill of going around deep forest in a Mazda 787B with the sun shining through the trees was just brain melt.

GT4 always the best racing games in PS2
One thing that I love about GT3/GT4 but you didn't mention: the completely automatic transmissions. Some cars (Mercedes SL55 AMG (R230), Nissan GT-R LM Race Car '01, Nissan Tokio Concept, Mitsubishi Colt Concept and more) became with totally automatic transmissions, and I can't deny that was one of my favourite part about these games. The Hybrid cars too, like the Prius dashboard.
When I first played the GT4 on the PS2, my mind was blown when that into rolled. 🤯🤯🤯
So many memories with both of these games! I remember when my dad actually watched a good portion of my ongoing Endurance races in both games! Even though I knew the game would save after a period of time into these races, I was still too paranoid to shut off the console.
Nice throwback I started Gt series when I was 6 years old and it's always a pleasure to play on Gt. Gt5 was a revolution after the 4, they are all great now I wait the Gt7
37:49 True Fact: GT 4 is one of only four titles for the PlayStation 2 that is capable of 1080i output. So, GT3 and GT4 graphic is a huge different LoL
10 years old playing Gt4, but now after growing up ive fallen back in love with cars and racing now in pcars2 and found your channel through those videos and it brought back the memory of how as a child i started to intuitively learn the racing/driving physics of the real world with gt4. at the time took it and all videogames for granted.now in 2020s thinking back games have definitely stagnated or gone downhill in the new features/innovation. Didn't know where im going with this but i love your channel and videos style(are you into cinema?) and want to say we should be playing simulations not 'games' because it actually make you think hard and/or cooperate with others to win and enjoyment is from (simulated) real success and not cheap dopamine hit from gambling/RNG/skins/p2w/addictive game and it's a good thing. peace. finding your channel like finding a hit of cid

My favourite thing to do in GT4, just to kill time, was to go to the Driving Park Gymkhana course and muck around. Burnouts, drifting, handbrake turns and all sorts of crazy driving behaviour I wouldn't do on the road was done there.

I had a Gran Turismo 4 edition of PS2. The colour of the console and controller was white, and ofcourse i got a copy of the game inside the box. I remember having so much fun playing the game, and the graphics were so realistic at the time!
GT3 was very fun if surprisingly difficult on GT mode. But the licensed soundtrack was awesome.
GT4 was also fun but the GT mode IMHO was better. With used cars not only did you have too change the oil but freshen the chassis. Found it cool that you take could a car with many miles on it, freshen it up and race with it. Again the licensed soundtrack was awesome.

I still play this, mostly driving the NSX with all traction aids off and *mostly* stock (just tires, port polish, and rebalancing).
The way it handles is just beautiful, definitely better with aids off. PD did an amazing job on the physics, and recently playing around with the Photo Mode too, which is cool and lets you get some very good pictures of your favorite cars.

Oh man, gt3 played it so much. Day in day out. Now if i hear those menu sounds en music it all comes back to me. I still have the ps2 and gt3 some where on the attic. Time to install it Again haha

I remember looking up the fastest lap times on the internet back then, and then beating them. I really wish I could have recorded my lap times. I put hours in daily. Was such a good time. And GT got me into racing. I'm a Forza Nut now. Buy GT will always be where I started. Great video.

Comunque due precisazioni:
La B-Spec ha una sua "esperienza". Se ti ricordi, andando a vedere nel menù riassuntivo della progressione della carriera GT hai un punteggio dato al B-Spec, questo punteggio sale giocando in B-Spec e più è alto, minore è la possibilità di errori dell'IA.
Poi, seconda cosa, non so che emulatore utilizzi, ma se usi PCSX2 ci sono i plug-in da installare per il volante. Occhio solo che devi abbassare il FFB dal pannello di controllo di Windows perché sfrutta tutta la potenza del motore.

Anyway just two tips:
B-Spec has its own "experience", it is shown on the GT mode progress menu with a score and you increase the experience by playing in B-Spec. More point you got, less chance the IA has to do mistakes.
Second, I don't know which emulator you use but, with PCSX2 there are some plug-in needed to install for the steering wheel. Just be ware to set the FFB low form the Windows control panel because it uses all the power of the steering wheel.
