- Welcome to another edition of Ask Gamedev’s Game engine showcases! Today’s feature is actually a framework - that’s right today we are showing off our favourite games made with LibGDX. LibGDX is a free and open source, cross-platform Java game development framework. With LibGDX you can write both 2D and 3D games and export to platforms including iOS, Android, Linux, Mac, Windows & more.

Thanks for the mentions! 😎😁 Great video showcasing libgdx!
Thanks for stopping by! Thanks also for all the great games and content!
Thanks for featuring Delver! Totally made our day! 🤘
Our pleasure - awesome to see you here! Thanks for everything you've done to help the gamedev community!
Please make delver MMO, it will be a hit for sure
i was looking for java game frameworks to create game in since i am fairly experienced java dev but have no experience in game dev. this motivates me a lot! seeing how amazing stuff people create with something is always a motivation to do that yourself. thanks!
so have u made somthing yet
Love these show cases!
Thanks! Let us know if there's an engine you'd like to see featured.
Would have never thought that a java game framework would produce such nice games.
Java is powerful but it scares away lazy kids because it supposedly needs to write too much, which is not true, the IDE does all the work and if the language still bothers you, just use Kotlin, Groovy,
The best selling game of all time was written in Java.
Thanks for making this awesome video!
This is very inspiring! Thank you for posting!
I would love to see one of this for either Phaser 3 or G develop :)
I've used LibGDX back then, and making Ui is a real pain in the arse
nah it's not
Delver is amazing
Transfinite dungeon is very awersome, fft like. I really wish to learn how make an tactics game
Your the one guy motivates me all the time🔥
Thanks
Glad we could help!
@@AskGamedev ✌️💙💙
Wow!!! It's amazing!!😁
Unity developers been real quite since this dropped.
TNINK YOU SO MUCH ON THE BEST GAME MAKEING GAMES
Apparently Transfinite Dungeon is called Crawl Tactics now. The link still works though.
what is the name of the sound track ?
Next, do Love2d
A new engine that I didn't know, nice! Thanks!
It's a framework
did you even watch the fucking video ?
@@firstname4337 Bruh why are you so heated
@@KajerX whats the difference?
@@GBFU2016 a engine has a level editor or ui and more features, whereas framework has bare minimum features like probably a 2d, 3d rendering, audio support and things which let you work easily without calling hardware drivers also has physics or collision support in some
Unciv is good too
The only game I know that was made with libGDX is Forest's Secret.
I would definitely want to check out LibGDX one day
if you are coming from a game engine, be prepared. Development and prototyping in LibGDX is SUPER slow!
We need pygame games
Thanks for the suggestion! What are some of your favourite games made with Pygame?
@@AskGamedev

----------------------
1-Drawn Down
2-Shifting Edge
3-skeletris
4-Cranberry Woodlands
5-the alchemist
6-duga
@@Taggua Thanks so much. Will check them out.

Wait a minute. Spine was made with libgdx? I thought it was made with haxe
Next do pygame
Thanks for the suggestion on Pygame as well! What are some of your favourite games made with Pygame?
Nice ;D
What's up with the para phrasing? lmao!
Is ther a game engine which uses python I wanna develop my game with python so please tell me is there a game engine using pyhton❤️
Try ursina engine.
Pygame
MINDUSTRY
yey
Thanks for video, but I think libGDX is hard, and few start templates ,I prefer go to Godot or Phaser 3.....
Please share how you create this type of explainer animation
So Bug-Byte is not the same as the Bug-Byte that started up in the 1980s?
Can you do best with godot?I need new list
Here's our most recent Godot showcase: czcams.com/video/ImeK6Ngv7Tg/video.html
oh my god can you people shut up about godot for 5 minutes
@@RADZULAYXE no godot
@@bojanjeremic1411 i'm just a bit annoyed with people not being able to resist mentioning "godot" especially in anything not related to godot
@ThatRandomDev yeah it kinda is, its now like, the third most popular game engine around, also I wouldn't really agree with "godot sucks", from my experience it's just okay and not overly amazing, I still use it for projects but i have to be very careful so that it doesn't randomly corrupt my projects or randomly mess up the resources. its good, just not very polished and i don't expect it to be more polished in 4.0 really
Jungle adventure 3 made by libgdx
I used to work with LibGDX, but i found hard to make good UI. In the end, I'm now using Unity...
And yet they all have very little downloads
If only libGDX was for C++...
Raylib is really good for c++
@@monohero231 yeah, i like it, however i am in my steps of writing a VERY simple game engine so i can make a flappy bird using it then quit it and go for raylib (my first big c++ proj is the engine)
have you looked at SFML
its a good C++ framework
Java is more concise
The syntax for Java is pretty much identical to C so there is close to zero learning curve if you want to give it a try.
No way you didnt mentioned aoc2
Just commenting for the algorithm
where's minecraft...
Minecraft uses LWJGL, not LibGdx
