I agree, it's better than the studio version. There was another copy of this on CZcams that cut the ending off, but this one goes on too long. There's no reason to include the introduction of the next song (on the album). For just the song, this can be cut at about 8:12. Or at 8:45 to include the "second time we ever" comment.
I love the organic flow of this version. Feels like THIS is the way they'd want the song to be. the studio versjon to me is one of the easiest ways of what a producer what the musicians brought back then. Studio version is still great, no doubt... which shows the brilliance of this song. This live version here though is on the top shelf next to the cookie jar!
By the time CSN (with Young hiding out of sight) took the stage at Woodstock around 3 AM Monday, the audience was vastly diminished - the mass exodus beginning after the legendary drenching thunderstorm on Sunday afternoon which not only soaked the audience and created tons of mud, but dropped the temperature to the upper 60s. With no more sun to warm them. (In the movie you can see them leaving during the storm.) The exodus continued all the rest of Sunday and all through the Monday AM darkness, with only about 20-30 thousand remaining for Jimi Hendrix to close the festival Monday morning.
Well, in all honesty, this makes me sad. Sad because I had no idea why so many young-uns were excited to go to Woodstock back in 1969. I felt I should just continue working. So, those guys drove upstate to attend a mess. BUT, when I heard this (much later), I was (and still am) enthralled and totally hooked!!!!1 This is MY personal favorite Rock Era performance over all others. And, that includes Tommy, the Wall, Who's Next, all terrific albums. But, Sweet Judy Blue Eyes from Woodstock takes the cake!
The best of the best. WOODSTOCK 1969 recording is the best to hear their true harmonies. Damn, Nash and Crosby, even though stoned still make it work. Fantastic recording!
It was 1980 I was about to graduate from high school my twin brothers drove me to my graduation drinking a bottle of Andre champagne 🍾 🙃 we had a 8 track of Woodstock in my Parents Chrysler Cordoba this song came on...I was thinking my god..what I am going to do now! Lol seriously this is really a good song..
The last word in spanish 7:23 of Stills say something like that: Que viva y me recuerdo a Cuba la reina de la mar caribe quiero solo visitarme ahí y que triste es que no puedo vaya verses are poorly built, but mean the following: Que viva el recuerdo de Cuba la reina del mar caribe quiero solo visitar el país y que triste es que no puedo ir In english: Long live the memory of Cuba Queen of the Caribbean Sea I just want to visit the country and how sad is that I can not go ¡Grande y valiente Stephen Stills!
The lines might be transcribed as follows: ¡Que linda! Me recuerda a Cuba La reina de la Mar Caribe Quiero sólo visitarle allí Y que triste que no puedo. ¡Vaya! O Va! O Va! (varies in different recordings) A rough translation into English might read: How pretty! I'm reminded of Cuba (alternatively, if the song is about Judy, "(she) reminds me of Cuba") The queen of the Caribbean Sea I only want to visit her there And how sad that I can't. Go! Oh go! Oh go!
Purple Wabbit La Bamba in English: To dance the Bamba To dance the Bamba Needed A little grace A little grace And another little thing And up and up Oh up and up For you I will be, for you I will be, for you I will be I'm not a sailor I'm not a sailor I'm a captain, I'm a captain, I'm a captain Bamba, bamba Bamba, bamba Bamba, bamba Of all the colors Of all the colors I like green Because the hopes Because hopes are never lost Well up and up Oh up ...
I love how they use the guitar in this song, its more of a strumming backbeat against their beautiful harmonies. It holds a tone that matches the tone in their voices. You don't see guitar used like this, its more with this version than the studio version
I’ve been studying this song and others of csn and just recently discovered that it’s how Steven tunes his guitar 🎸 to get the sound of a dozen guitars playing all at once. I remember hearing this Harmony in the Woodstock movie when it came out O so many years ago. And it still is one of the greatest songs.
OOOHH WEE! That's a bold statement or opinion my friend! I've always loved this live version but to say it's better than the studio version, is exactly that, your opinion. I was 14 y.o and smoking a lot of wacky tobacky and dropping window pane LSD. It was a glorious time to be a young , long haired rocker. Golden Memories. Peace and Love

Mr. Crosby is an excellent producer. Very demanding. Thank you Berklee College of Music online. Thank you Father God of Israel in Jesus Mighty Name Amen for the Sanctifiying Work of The Holy Spirit in Jesus Beutiful Mighty Name Amen!❤❤❤❤😂😂😂❤❤❤😂
Neil Young did not play on either the studio or Woodstock performance on Judy Blue Eyes, though he was present on stage at Woodstock while staying in the darkness, out of the stage lights.
@@kurtkieswetter5514 while Young may have had the better solo career don't discount Stills or Nash abilities. Young had the talent and the I dont care leave me alone mystique that you dont see in pop stars of the that day
Poor Judy is trying to better her like by talking to a therapist and Steve just ain't having it. Talk about an ultimatum. Yes I want to see you but only on the days you're supposed to see your shrink. Ouch.
Were you aware that Stills had an affair with and wrote this about Judy Collins? Sadly, Judy descended into the pit of alcoholism until her recovery many years later.
Neil Young was not on the studio recording of Judy Blue Eyes, nor did he play here on this live Woodstock performance either, though he was present there on stage, staying out of the stage lights.
BETTER THAN THE STUDIO VERSION. This is my go-to. Love you, CSN&Y
My "goto" too!!

AMEN! Thats exactly what I tell everyone! 2cnd gig...
“Don’t let the past remind us of what we are not now”…one of the greatest lyrics ever written…
This song rocks live at Woodstock I just love this song
there's nothing like 'live'. i have listened to this tune at least 1,000 times
Only 1,000 times? You must be under 50 years old. 🤣🤪
That is pure harmony, love S. Stills and his musical talent !
When I heard their first album I was stunned by the harmonies and the beauty of the melodies.

not bad for the 2nd time they ever played together in front of an audience (and what an audience) !
donna boyce yeah weird - It just appeared in my head. Mind radio picking up on the same wave I guess.
Not bad at all
RIP David Crosby. 🙏🏻
best version for sure.
Amazing performance … So blessed! 🙏🌴
The harmonies in this song have touched my soul most of my life. I was raised right! 32 year old here.
69 yo here, and still LOVING it.
Agreed(I'm60)
Fabulous! I’m not really old enough for this to be my music, but it is. Truly a child of the 60’s.
I could listen to this version over and over (and have). Never get sick of it.
RIP David.
This is the one. . .and WOW the harmonies!! Best harmonies in the known universe!! Angel choirs jealous
apart of a blessed golden magical generation….best ever 🌸🌼✌️

My brother and I used to love this song as little kids and randomly sang the doo doo doos at the end with harmony
Best song at Woodstock 🍺
The best of the best. WOODSTOCK 1969 recording is the best to hear their true harmonies. Damn, Nash and Crosby, even though stoned still make it work. Fantastic recording!
I heard there was some stoned-ness going on in the production of "innagoddavida too
Y ❤️

Good music, our hippie era fun loving sun flower children.🎶♥️ RIP D Crosby
This is beautiful
A three headed beast that sings angelically
The harmonies at 4:05-4:16 are shot into the stratosphere man. That was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.
Bitte mehr von CSN&Y und Woodstock . Double Lovelike. Beide Daumen hoch. LG
Halo Oma. Genau Ich denke auch als Crosby musik.🎶
Breathtakingly Resplendent. 😊息を呑むほど輝く😊
Crosby, Still, Nash & Not so Young Anymore.
Neither are you
Great, great, great.
Imagine this being their 1st live show... and they nailed it.
Best version.
Thanks brother.I was searching for the long version of this jam @ woodstock!

Lucky folks to be at that show. I was 2yrs & 11mos.old.

Wish there was a video of the whole performance on CZcams (even though I have it on the DVD)
there is, I have watched it.
God open tunings are the best.
excellent;))) today in 1969=woodstock;)
It's one of the greatest songs even though there's not a video of the Whole Performance. . ( I like this song from Woodstock but I can't find it on CZcams with the ending) Well Woodstock was the greatest festival ever...
It's on the Woodstock documentary. Not the whole song but most of it iirc.

One of the greatest love songs ever written, it's all so genuine and full of passion unlike popular music today
thank you so much.. and this time WITH ending! SO MANY hugbuffs!!!
One of a very few bands that sound better live than in studio 🇺🇸
csn (+y ?) are seriously the greatest. beautiful stuff
There's no other way, this is the best version. I have in LP

They repeat two times "Lacy, lilting, leery "....Anyway, wonderful version.
Siempre❤️
Interesting mix of Dudes;
the Dreamer, the Cowboy, the Gentle-Man & the Hippie
who's who?

@@danielgolus4600 The introduction you can hear in the background names, "Crosby, Stills, Nash *& Young"*
Shoooowww!!!!
6:11 to 6:17is my fav few secs on this amazing performance!
this is what the Grateful Dead thought they sounded like.
The grateful dead had their own glory. Beautiful band too.
Queen 9
A FUCKING COMMERCIAL IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS???
WE ARE FUCKING DOOMED.
I wonder how many acid-heads went on a bad trip during and after Sha-Na-Na ? It almost does it to me when I hear it sober.
Now there woodstock
Is that Spanish or Portuguese!???
Soothing my election anxiety...what is better?
🟦💙👁
It says and young in title but I don't believe Neil was on this one. Correct me if I'm wrong
This was Woodstock.. I believe neil was sitting more to the back by himself...pretty funny...Neil was better than any of them

This is slowed down. They played and sang at a faster tempo at Woodstock.
i couldn't help but notice too. ;)
upload that shit haha
2 interruptions from Utube so far in 5 minutes.
What T F is the point?
Done with Utube.
It's BS. DONE
One legged bird. Poor thing.
Ads mid song don't waste my time
A little less bottom end on the guitar please
Genius 😎
Like everything else, it's just better with Neil.
