- Neil Young and Crazy Horse perform "Down By the River" live at the Farm Aid concert in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 18, 1994. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

Farm Aid's performances are donated by the artists in order to raise funds and raise awareness for family farmers. They've raised their voices to help - what can you do? - Hudba

Best 15 minutes I've spent on anything so far today.
Neil leaves this stage a smoking ruin. One of the greatest live performances of all time.
I was there. Unbelievable performance.
Along with our minds
Grunge sound Neil. My favorite is the CSNY TV performance in 1969. The voices were stronger and Stills guitar duel with Neil.
when neil and crazy horse turn the volume UP not many do it better or rawer
@@thetruthfornow6045 yes, that is amazing and brilliant. Live!! What a group.
65 yr old now and this just trandsends all time and takes me back to my haze filled youth every time I here it.
Aquellos fueron nuestros días los mejores de toda la historia universal
I am 69. My dad was from Omemee Ontario where Neil grew up, he is a legend up here and so humble, obviously money is not his motivation, he went from acoustic to electric to the Pink Flamingos without ever selling himself out. Now that is what I call a true legend and Canadian,
This is the song that turned me into a Neil Young fan. Couldn't believe what I was hearing.
The King of Grunge🎸 Unbelievable in concert, saw acoustic & u could hear a pin drop . So I yelled Sugar Mountain & next song he played it 4 me! Saw many times❤🌟🎸🎸🎸

Neil Young ...The soul of Country Rock !!
The father of grunge with a rag in his back pocket and a security shirt on his back this guy is a rock star
Played this at Hop Farm Festival in Kent UK the day and year Nadal beat Federer at Wimbledon. I was there he was absolutely buzzing that day and this was the highlight of the session. Magic performance audience were mesmerized
Love! Neil Young is himself in that slightly nerdy self-evident way that we love. He is completely genuine and unadulterated. Neil lives the 1968 spirit with his wonderful gifted musicianship, grand in the small, warm and close! 😍
I love this comment!!
And so do i 😊
Ditto 😊

Oh how I love Neil's solos. It's as if he's locked in a deadly fight against his guitar for every note that has to come out, and he always barely wins.
well put.
yes for sure!
Good old Neil, crazy horse is awesome. A problem a Woodstock, playing Buffalo Springfield, while CSN is trying to dump him for S.Stills. My favorite song, "the damage done ". I Used to be a herion addict

I don't listen the Neil often , but when i do most of my town does..
I don't consume any kind of crazy things, but when I have something that unbalances me emotionally, sentimentally or I'm working and I'm stressed, this is my medicine, I can't stop listening to it! the solos, their peace, the vibe!! It's really the best I've ever heard
Thanks for sharing your thoughts into words. Just like song writer do
Everytime I run into anything by Neil Young it's like a warm all over, stress free, head rush.
Exactly! His voice makes me feel that way. Familiar, coming home feeling.
Just one more hit of what you're smokin' then it's time for bed.

I'm 75 and still crazy over his songs and guitar. 5:23
Having been in some awful garage bands, when I finally broke into a good band
this was one of the essential songs we could jam to for as long as the audience could stand it.
Would be happy to hear this song from even a awful garage band.😊
Crazy Horse..the best garage band of all time
I never tire of Neil performing this song with Crazy Horse. His tone and expression can’t be beat!
The hairs on my arms and standing tall and chills go up and down my neck as tears roll down my face with joy.
The first single i bought left it in the car by mistake in the sun. 😢😮

Nothing like Neil - always loved him since high school and still do. Can’t understand why none of my friends liked his music . . .
maybe they weren't your friends
All I have to say is I loved the man. Yeah, get down American Indian style. Awesome
I just love this song so much especially since my first wife hated it
Neil was feelin it in this version, his leads were going somewhere and boy did they sound good, the other band members stayed with him and augmented his ideas so smoothly. Very nice rendition of a classic. Thanks for sharing with us.👌✌
no matter how old this music gets it just never gets old.

Such a ride,thanks guys❤
One of THE most “organic” bands….it just blends so naturally. No one sounds like Neil Young, vocally OR that bizarre guitar tone and solo style. It just works SO well with Crazy Horse.
James Brown and Neil Young, the best creators of room energy ever.
A Canadian national treasure. Such a gift of an artist, such an inspiration to many musicians 🙏
He's a U.S. citizen as well now, so both sides get to claim him as a national treasure! I too, am a dual citizen, so I'm double-dipping on this one!
he belongs to all of us... :)

You won't hear this ever again Phenominal
When Neil sings "Sugar Mountain" he brings us to a very pure safe place in our childhood.I am so grateful to have been able to buy his vinyl albums as a young teenager. His messages of prophecy are all rooted in the highest truth. Anyone who becomes a friend of his learns to care about what is most important. As I add this comment I would like to wish him a beautiful 75th birthday today November 13, 2020. When you were born, the mold was broken. Here's wishing you great health and prosperity from here to eternity. Blessings always!Keep safe and may you always have divine protection.I'm always on your side Mr. Neil Young.
Csn let neil back in. Try "the southern cross"
You should write poetry. As opposed to BAD poetry, I mean.
It's about drugs
Sugar Mountain almost got me kicked out of boarding school - snuck into the girls dorm to share it with Debbie and Susie
That's probably one of the best things I've ever heard! 🎶🎸💙👏👏👏

Neal Young is one of my favorite in 70's!!!
50 years ago....when I was 16 I would play the album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere on my 8 track player in my "hippie van"...as loud as possible. I'd also play it on rowdy camping trips with all my juvenile delinquent buddies. Down By The River....Cinnamon Girl.....Cowgirl in the Sand..... Neil Young made my teen years epic!
Neil is still making my 20's great now!
Great memories to have 👌🇮🇪

I’ve gotta say me too! As an 18 yo growing up in rural Ontario in 1968, Neil’s “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” album changed my life. It taught me it was okay to really feel things in my heart!
It's worth being older now, to have been young then.
I was so much older then , I'm younger than that now.
You bet sister I wouldn't trade my TIME for anything. It's been a Great Ride...

Neil’s guitar tone is unique. It’s soulful and dirty, in a real emotional way. Neil and the Horse, didn’t get much better
The recently released a new album ... after the citizenship of Neil. Listen to it, it's good.
Neil Young just is the whole package, phenomenal guitar player with his own unique sound, one of the great song writers like ' heart of gold " , Sedan Delivery", and he has a great voice, not to mention just a great down to earth human being

Ive seen Neil Young more times than i could count. This album Everyone know this is knowwhere., was the first album i ever bought. I was in the sixth grade.
When I grow up Im gonna get an electric guitar and turn it way up!
The bass player is the foundation of this song. A great version. He keeps the beautifully chaotic guitars within a framework. Mesmerizing performance.
No doubt Neil has a very different groove with Crazy Horse he seems to be able go deeper and the horse just follows him without any hesitation
FUNNY...I just posted that on CZcams. I ALWAYS thought Neil was a different musician with this band. Basically a two chord rhythm by Frank. Just an EPIC jam.
Agree with you live they were all impressive and my favs of Neil Young's music was with Crazy Horse! Whether live or all the albums! They seems to flow with his genius! When with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby,Stills, Nash and Young it was his talent mostly sorry that is how I have noticed over the years!
Well thank you
Saw Neil with Crazy Horse years ago, they freakin' rocked out. One of the best concerts I ever saw.
No doubt Neil Young with crazy horse was always his best music in my opinion
Me , Bernard Diaz, I would grab my guitar and use this song to warm up with. People would freak out and love it. Great song!!

Just me being a crazy horse, but Neil's solo deserver's an applause.
You ever seen a crazy horse ?
I agree. I played my 81 Strat to this song. Really got into some balistic lead. I'm 50, been playing since I was 15. Fairly good. Perfect rythum if you want to crack a few good electric leads too. It's in E buy the way if you're a guitarest.
Ken Smith Indeed. Some players do the complicated riffs and passages. Simplicity is what makes Neil's songs a camp fire favorite.
I second that motion

I play on the Strip in Vegas, besides being a novelist. Been playing for half a century now for some famous names. You will not find a better song to jam.
I HAVE BEEN IN HOSPITAL WITH C-DIFF AND THE FIRST THING I WANTED TO HEAR AND SEE WAS NEIL YOUNG,S DOWN BY THE RIVER. LOVE YOUR VOICE AND GUITAR PLAYING.
I love Neil. My son’s middle name is Neil.
He's amazing, Canadian and loves America, This Guy is one special person, musician, Love Him, Just Soooooooooo great!
I love it when Neil goes the full Frankenstein on these extended jams. He’s one of the few guitar players I know of who will almost stop playing, think about what he’s feeling and then start up again in a different direction. He’s one of a kind.
truly one of a kind.
Yeah, it's hard to think of the courage to let it all out.
Kinda like 'dance like no one's watching'.
I’ve just realised why his movements are odd he wears lead boots
