    A lot of people will want to know that the lite can keep up on hills with pedal assist 2.0. Great video. The lite only goes 20 mph and the 2.0 goes 28 mph. On the flat drag race, they were neck in neck until 20 mph. Hey, they fixed the rear light, it has two bolts now! I went for a ride in pas 1 today because it was cold and I was underdressed so anything over 8 mph was too much. My range was huge, and the battery meter was at full charge when I got back. I did pedal casually and often I found myself fully powering the bike on flats and not knowing it. but here is my take. I love the price but I'm getting racks, a second battery, and an upgraded seat. So tack on $400 putting me at 1200. The thing is the bike is 46 lbs with one battery. I can bring a second one and I'm at 52 lbs and have 80 miles of pedal range and 30 throttle only. I'm using this with an RV so it has to handle a bunch of use cases. There is less to break and adjust and the chain should not fall off ever I'm hoping. If weight was not a factor I would get the premium for 1800 since that is a crazy good deal and has 50 miles at 28 mph throttle only range which is really a car replacement. It is more like the high 60s if you use one battery and 58 or so if you take the batteries out for transport. Not too bad. I have a few hundred miles on my blue lite and love riding it. Plus people stop me all the time to tell me how cool my bike looks. I'm not a plan, but having spent 10,000 or so on bikes over 10 years, these bikes are a breakthrough in price to quality.

    • @robertd9850
      @robertd9850 Před 2 lety

      The 2.0 comes locked at 20 mph. If you unlock it, some states may require registration and/or a license so that is a consideration not to mention limitations on some trails. The premium is nice but for an RV, that's a lot of extra weight. I have already ordered the 2.0 but am waffling about whether to change it to the lite before it ships. I really like the monochromatic look of the white one. Have you ridden both? Do you miss the front suspension on the lite?

      @@rwo6211 I ordered a lite today because I’m in a flat ground city, and I only plan to ride around for fun and trips to the grocery store to save on gas, but I misread the max weight, so I’m kind of panicking wondering if I should have gotten the 2.0. It’s not so much a matter of cost as a matter of portability and weight, I want to be able to throw my bike in the back seat and drive it to the park to ride. I’m 5’10, 220-225 pounds, I saw your comment about being 250 and had to ask your opinion. How does the Lite handle someone heavier like us? I’m really concerned the battery isn’t going to be enough now, and when I add a rack and milk crate and get some groceries that it’s going to be struggle bad. Does it handle your weight ok (like is the max weight estimate just being conservative/cautious), or do you think the 2.0 would be better? Thanks in advance for any help.

    • @rwo6211
      @rwo6211 Před rokem +3

      @@weezyslob totally concur with all of @dean draper's points in his comments above, and affirm my own previous comments. As to your questions:
      A) Handling heavy people/heavy loads: If your hills are less than 20 degrees, I believe the Lite (remarkably) will get me up there. As I mentioned, on my 10-15 degree hills, I just take them on PAS 3. The key is to have good seat height (just high enough to allow both feet to touch ground tip-toed, and to also push seat back as far as possible. I should also mention that in addition to my 250-255 lbs, 5'11", 30" inseam, 37" sleeve length (yes, some sort of Asian ape or gorilla was likely part of my ancestry),, I'm a 69 year old former stroke victim and am totally out of shape with very little stamina and muscle strength). Yet I fear no sub-15 degree hill situation on the Lite, and just pop it into PAS 3, and pedal up without breaking a sweat, or heavy breathing. (Anything steeper than 15 degress, I'm not sure. I guess try PAS 4 or 5 and get a head start and stand up pedaling (I can't do that any more)?).
      B) Fit/Ergos: The ergos/fit of the Lite for me is pretty close to perfect (that is with the Selle Royal Drifter sprung saddle mounted as far back as possible. (I also have a Cloud-9 and a Bikeroo wide sprung saddles, but the Selle allows the best seat set back.) On the paved road, the sprung Selle saddle allows you to put max 35psi tire pressure for best rolling / handling. and smooths bumps. I don't think you'll miss the front suspension with a sprung saddle. If you also add a $25 suspension seat post (check out ebikeproducts.com), I think the Lite will handle most dirt roads (keep elbows bent and loose grip on bars. Use elbows as front suspension).
      C) Portability: IMO: this is the BIG DEAL with the Lite (versus the 2.0 that I was originally going to buy until the Lite came out). Now I have no regrets with the Lite. The 20 lbs less weight and smaller folded dimensions IS A BIG DEAL with me in terms of not only loading/transporting/storing, but also just basically moving the bike around. Instead of having to plan how to get your 65-70lb e-bike up a step, with the Lite it's more like what you would do with a regular bike: just grab and lift. The 2.0 (and just about all the other 20" fat tire folding e-bikes out there that are all in the 65-75 lb range), they're all just a little too big to lift and fit into a back seat, or trunk of a car (or in/out of a bus). But the Lite opens up many of those limits while offering much of the on road performance of those other bikes.
      D) Groceries in crate/weight capacity: I did order the "Luggage Package" (front/rear racks and panniers for $100, but have not arrived yet). I can't comment. I guess it should be okay. (Maybe because I'm on a 10-day cleanse, and maybe because I've been on the Lite so much these past 3 weeks, I''m down to 245 (!!!), so I guess I got another 10 lbs of XP Lite cargo capacity!). (Also from the looks of the really beefy mounting points of the racks, the Lite's stout build and motor, I feel quite confident that the Lite is strong enough to haul around another 40 lbs of cargo in the rear rack and maybe up to 15 lbs in front rack. (But I would avoid steep hills in such circumstance - no more than 12 degree hills)
      E) Battery: I think KEVCENTRAL's range review of the Lite is pretty spot on and jives with my own estimates. I.e. for throttle only the tiny 7.8ah pack will likely yield no more than 10-12 miles if kept below 11mph on flat ground, and no more than 9 miles of heavy usage. I agree that using PAS 2 (about 10-13mph) and augmenting with pedaling, you can likely get around 20 miles (30-32 km) range. Note: Aliexpress sells replacement XP 2.0 (non-step thru) extra batteries for much less than Lectric (and they have higher amp hour capacity, but unknown battery cell quality - a big factor for longevity). I'm sure they will soon stock XP Lite packs soon. I am a e-bike DIY'er (the Lite is my 5th e-bike, but my 1st bought bike.) I build my own packs. I have already spliced a parallel connection for the Lite to accept my 8 lb, 48volt 14 ah pack (using 52 ("13s4p") Queen Bee 18650 3.5ah that' I will strap onto the rear rack only on longer rides (to triple the range).

      @@rwo6211 Thank you so much for that detailed response, you’ve been incredibly helpful. After reading that and a few other comments elsewhere/watching more videos, I’m confident with the Lite. Where I live there are NO hills, it’s just flat city streets. I want the bike for trips to the grocery store no more than 2 miles from me, and for riding around my neighborhood for fun, so I don’t think I’ll need all the extras, just a rear rack. I will probably always think about not having the ability to get up to 28 mph in the bike lane, but then again that’s also very fast and probably adds do the danger level of a crash. Both models have their place depending on which kind of riding you do and where. Hard to beat the 2.0 that comes with front fork suspension, bigger battery, fenders, etc. Its'a great cruiser.

Even 3 inch tires might be a no go too, The 2.4 inch tires on the XP Lite would work. However I would put a U lock on the rear tire so it wouldn't be taken by another transit rider (thief) quickly removing it from the front of the bus and taking it away.

      @rwo6211 Před rokem +2

      Your observations are correct. The e-bikes's top speed is a function of the pack voltage. As you ride from full charge to empty, the voltage of the bike will drop anywhere from 12 to 16 volts. However note that Lithium Ion batteries longevity is heavily compromised if you regularly charge up to 100%. (If you charge only up to 80% you can more than double the amount of charge cycles and greatly increase pack longevity.) If you do charge to 100% try to make sure you start riding and using the battery no more than a few minutes after fully charging. (As you leave your battery in 100% state of charge, the battery builds crystals that will grow and either decrease capacity and may even short out cells in your pack. It is even more damaging to leave your pack in a state of zero (empty) charge (actually below 3.0 volts per cell in the pack (30 volts on a "36 volt" pack, 39 volts on a "48 volt" pack and 42 volts on a "52 volt" pack). If you do drain your battery, it's best to at least charge for about 30 minutes as soon as possible. packs left in a state of empty for more than a few minutes will incur permanent degradation.

    I think Lectric has great deals on the 2.0 and Xpremium but I just can't generate much enthusiasm for the Lite. Getting rid of the 7 speed was a step too far imo. I can see the Lite being handy to ride around an RV park and frequently load/unload from the RV but other than a use like that it sure gives up a lot to the 2.0. Less battery, less range, less motor, smaller frame, no suspension fork, no fenders, no rack to carry anything, and once again...NO GEARS! Unless the lifting weight and the 18 pound difference vs 2.0 is beyond physical limits then the Lite doesn't seem like much of a bargain.

    Here's a new request...the Walmart E-ride mountain 29er vs the Walmart Boundary Electric. Both 29ers, but the Boundary is $200 more with a throttle. This would be a very good test within the Walmart family of eBikes.

    How you gonna test the XP 2.0 and the Lite while at Pedal Assist 5 when you only have the XP 2.0 in Gear 1? It's like you're artificially making it appear the XP Lite is faster than the XP 2.0 on hills, when I there is a very high probability that the if the XP 2.0 were in Gears 3, 4, or 5 the XP 2.0 would cleanly beat the XP Lite up the hill. The XP lite is a fixed gear so it's fixed gear is going to be higher than the equivalent of Gear 1 on the XP 2.0.

    there is a gear ratio difference of maybe 10 teeth and a smaller tire vs a larger one, lite is 2.89 and 2.0 is 1.86 so the lite has a gear ratio advantage if you put the 2.0 in a closer ratio outcome may have been different. gear inches show the difference even better lite is 61.11 inches and 2.0 is 41.55 so for every crank rotation the lectric lite travels farther.

    • @KevCentral
      @KevCentral  Před 2 lety +2

      Gear ratio is irrelevant on a cadence sensor hub driven bike when the rider is only spinning the pedals enough to engage the motor (at least at max assist)

    • @DonaldMays
      @DonaldMays Před 2 lety +1

      @@KevCentral when ever you are pedaling and driving the chain each turn of the chain drives the bike a set amount of distance there is no way to avoid that distance unless you stop pedaling amd in this situation the lite will travel farther with each turn of the crank. take the chain off the bike and the pedaling won't have any effect on the rear wheel. Gear inches will always matter when it comes to distance travelled

    • @KevCentral
      @KevCentral  Před 2 lety +1

      Cadence sensor dictates when the motor turns off and on, not the bikes gearing. They have the same cadence sensor. That makes the rotation cycle the same and will turn the motor on and off at the same points

      @DonaldMays Před 2 lety +2

      @@KevCentral I did not dispute that what I said you can not turn the crank without putting some kind effort if you take the motor out of the picture the 2.0 would be at an advantage climbing a hill with no motor. The lite would be at a disadvantage but ad the motor and it is reversed the lite is putting more power because of taller gear even lightly peddling the lite is going to out perform 2.0 cause the effort is not equal because of gearing

    You think if ride on Xp lite, my weight is 140-145 plus I’m 5’3-5’4”. Will be more lighter as feather get on Xp lite to uphills will go lot of faster than your guy said 175 pound instead mine light weight? I watched your videos Xp lite my opinion think seem look impressive go uphill no problems. I believe both Xp 2.0 and lite still good!
