      I’m with ya. But I find the one little imperfection I always end up with is just for me to remind me I didn’t pay someone to do the job ;) and I’m not perfect. I’m ok with that! Mine had two small bubbles that would not go away. I syringed them out but still can see them. Tried hot water to cure ppf nope.. so I just live with it. It’s not in the middle and no one will see unless I point it out to them. Great video thanks

    Nice subie man I just did my 23 wrx headlights and fogs. I actually put blue painters tape on the headlight and used a sharpie to outline the light then pulled it off cut out the shape then stuck it to cardboard paper and cut that out then onto the film. It was pretty quick. I’ve never done ppf before but it came out pretty good. Could you have used heat on the stubborn corners or fingers as you said ?

  • @diamonddavemusic
    @diamonddavemusic Před 4 lety +2

    Question: In this video you "tacked" down the inside corner of the headlight to begin, but you did not use any "tacking solution". So, will the film adhesive work/tack/stick using only the "slip solution"? Or do I need to apply "tacking solution" to the entire inside portion of the film? I'm going to replace some PPF on my truck, and this is the first time I've ever applied it, so I'd like to get it right the first time. Thanks for the helpful video and reply.

    • @m2mdetail781
      @m2mdetail781  Před 4 lety +6

      You do not need to use tack solution to make the ppf stick. The slip solution will tack it but not right away. You can also use hot water as a tack solution. If you need to relax the film a steamer works great. Hopefully this was helpful and best of luck on the install 👍

    I had some PPF put on the headlights of my new Porsche 911.. do you know if it will harm the headlights if I have them removed and replaced? Does it do damage to the headlight lease or is there a coating I should be worried about?

    • @m2mdetail781

      What year is your 911. On my last 911 I did the dealership had to remove the ppf off the entire car to certified the vehicle. The headlights have a type of coating on them. The headlight did have some areas where they were damaged. This could be from just ripping them off and not using a steamer to help relax the film when removing.

    I have the simplest headlights out there (several Lincoln Town Cars) In roll form this stuff does not behave as shown! Fingers that are smoothed out pop back up in a few minutes. The film will only conforms to one curve. It does not stretch or shrink to fit. I THINK IT ONLY WORKS WITH THESE PRECUTS AND LOTS OF PRACTICE. It looks so easy, so I just wasted quite a bit of money that is now wet, stuck to itself and in the trash. Any advice is welcome so I can waste more money. Who knows, I may figure it out yet.

    • @m2mdetail781
      @m2mdetail781  Před 3 lety

      Hey yes practice does make it a lot easier. When you get those fingers spray hot water in them and knock them down. Also when installing the film lock down one side a stretch the material across so there are no fingers. This will stop the fingers from happening in the 1st place hope this helps and good luck. “Simple process” I tried for 4 hours on 22 wrx headlight. This is impossible! I couldn’t do it. Got frustrated and gave up. There goes $150 done the drain for a front end kit headlights and bumper. This is not DIY job. Unfortunately I live is shity over priced, very expensive Canada and PPF places want $4000 CDN just for front end bumper and headlights! Get bent!
    Guess my car will get riddle with rock chips. PPF is not DIY job. It’s expertly hard. I followed this video to a T to.
