@@rangersmith4652 Absolutely, and it even feels like Windows is degrading. Well, only facing this at work.
At home I completely switched to Linux - Arch and Mint - which have, to be fair its own set of deficiencies. But since I am not playing competitive Multiplayers which require Kernel Level Anti Cheat (and thus deliberately dont work with Linux) I am actually quite fine.
@Durayne Kernel level anti-cheats aren't allowed on any computer I own. They're rootkits, simple as that.

Yes, about that search function... I have to use software called "Everything", for appearance of Windows 11 (I do not like at all because it's brutally reduced in functions) I am using StartAllBack with normal tab and start menu. It would be cool if I would not need to use third party software to make my OS comfortable to use. If Microsoft will continue with adding features that no one asks for instead of focusing repairs of features that should be working out of the box, I am gonna go for Arch-based distro (AMD GPU here).
@@geeker9545 As someone who's been using third party software since Windows 7 (which removed classic features Vista kept); things will only continue to get worse. I used Win10 v1703 for 7 years, updating to v1909 out of necessity for broken DX12 games, then v2004 for certain applications (mainly games) that just silently 0x5c errored. v2004 broke my sound card's recorder (and potentially caused a periodic visual hitch in games). I couldn't roll back because I was on day 11 of the 10 day grace period, even after adjusting the registry key.
Windows 11 will never touch my systems.
Windows 10 was supposed to be the last OS.. then they decided they wanted more money. And to think Windows 12 is supposed to be a thing..
We have to switch to Linux. Microsoft needs to dramatically lose market share or nothing will ever improve.

So glad others feel the way about Windows/Microsoft as I do. Would shift to Linux in a heartbeat if I could, but still several apps not compatible with it yet. The likes of MS & Adobe should be worried as once that's overcome and people like me try it & get comfortable with it, we're never coming back.
I used to think like that, then I realized Linux was already advanced well past what I needed. Just use the alternative apps, they will get the job done. Stop waiting for those corporations, replace them... It's free too
You should have shifted to Linux long ago, you've been missing out
@@chronometer9931 I sadly don't think you'll find free alternatives to games that don't run in Linux. Virtually no multiplayer game will work due to anti-cheat engines, and even a good chunk of SP games don't either.
@@KiltedCritic True enough. For a gamer, it's a matter of whether you place greater value on your privacy & digital freedom or on the experience you get from playing specific games. I decided I valued privacy and freedom on my computer more than anything I got out of Windows-exclusive titles with restrictive anti-cheat engines, especially as gaming is far from the only thing my computer is for. I suspect a lot of people are asking themselves this sort of question now.
Edit: Since Tim's segment on this was more heavily focused on annoyances than privacy, I suppose the various quality of life issues also factor in here; Linux distributions definitely have pain points of their own, but at least you can shop around a bit more for the features you do or don't like.

Its sad that some companies are too short sighted to understand that warranty support builds strong customer loyalty. I had a defective mouse from Logitech about 14 years ago. They immediately sent a replacement and didn't even ask for the old mouse back. Ive since bought... 6 mice, 4 keyboards, and 1 set of speakers from them. Because I feel i can trust them to stand by their products 🤷♀️
I think most companies that start off that way and that’s how they become big companies. The problem is they go public and then have to appease shareholders all the time.
I 100% agree. I also gained a lot of respect for Logitech because they replaced one of my defective mice for free. I now have 3 Logitech gaming mice and would probably buy another G305 if I needed a new mouse for whatever reason
5800X3D needs to be put on the 'Legend' status... we need it to have a DIFFERENT COLOUR on the benchmark charts!

I agreee with Windows Search. Jumping from using Windows 2000 on a vintage PC for a while to Windows 10 made me realize how good was Windows Search on Windows 2000. It didn't index anything, in just found the righ results, really fast and you had even the option to filter the search for audio, video, text files and more. For me, Windows Search function was broken, starting with indexing update, it doesn't work properly. It happened to me to search a file that was in the same directory and Windows couldn't find it. And if you do a search, then you are ordering the result by date, or size, etc., it does the search from the beginning again. Windows Search, a tool that I use almost daily, since I have a lot of files that I use at work, is awful. I rather prefer to memorize some paths than searching for a file with Windows.
The simple answer about MSFT is that they lost their good employees decades ago -- they pay below market and it's a giant bureaucracy. And they have surprisingly few engineers working on various features.
Any chance of getting these Q&As added to the HUB podcast playlist? Or even if it's a separate podcast, either would be fantastic...
I've been listening to these while I do house / yard work, but am traveling now, and would like to limit data usage while away from home - idk if it's feasible for you both, but if so, it'd be super helpful.
Thanks for all the great work over the years!! Tims monitor reviews have been my go-to for my last 3 purchases, and the hw revisits are what I leaned on for building my boys' first gaming rig (used hw = best hw, at least when it comes to performance/$ lol). Thanks again gents!

@@damdibidum I mostly using my pc only to play games, so this is the best available choice and reasonable one at that time, since I already using Am4 board, and my 3600 can't keep up with my 6800XT
I definitely do that, clicking away to another video. So i can watch them from my history, faster than adding them to a watch later playlist.
Holy crap they actually answered my question!
One thing that really annoys me about Windows 11, is how audio settings was buried in menus. In Windows 10 I could just right click the "speaker" icon in the bottom right corner, and switch audio output and mic input. Now I have to go into an application and through a couple of menu options to get the same result.
An annoyance to be sure. I overcame this by using a prog called SoundSwitch, its free and you pick which audio sources you want in to a "menu' that is hotkey switchable. If im in a game and my wife starts yelling at me to turn it down, all I have to do is hit ctrl-alt-f11 and that switches from speakers to headset. If im not fullscreened I can just double click the tray icon and it does the same thing. Whatever audio sources you want to be included in the options to switch are definable. It works flawlessly for me and only uses 25mb of Ram
@@TheOne2Knowgood looking out. I'll try this
@11.45 - spot on, it is INFURIATING to use. I don't know how they struggle so much to make a proper search bar. Planning to make the jump to linux soon anyway given their ads and screenshot nonsense.
If you disable search bars access to Internet, it becomes much more faster.
The ads fetching is what is killing the search.
Honestly, the strategy that FSR started with was amazing. Make an upscaling technology that works with a broad range of GPUs in order to help keep older GPUs relevant for longer. But for some reason whenever there is a review about FSR and DLSS it's always pointed out how DLSS has better image quality (in some cases no matter how small it may be) but then no mention of the fact that FSR is working across far more GPUs while Nvidia makes you buy the newest card in order to get the newest features that make DLSS image quality better. How much value is really being added when you still have to keep upgrading every single generation just keep getting the newest upscaling features?
I don’t understand your argument. FSR offers an inferior product to me than DLSS in terms of its visual quality, and when I buy a gpu I’m choosing which single gou I’ll be using for the next several years. The fact that FSR is supported on older products isn’t compelling when I’m deciding which modern GPU to buy. And RTX cards are continuing to receive updates to DLSS, not just the 40 series, while AMD hasn’t upgraded FSR in a really long time (although they finally announced an upgrade). I think FSR is great for gamers overall because of the wide support, but its existence doesn’t push new AMD products unless I just wanted to reward AMD. In terms of what it actually offers to a person in the market for a new gpu it’s a strictly inferior version of dlss.
@jgig1329 My argument is simple, if you want the latest and greatest DLSS tech from Nvidia then you will have to buy the newest card because Nvidia only makes it available on new hardware. One of the biggest selling points of upscaling is being able to use older hardware for longer which is irrelevant if you have to buy a new card every generation just to keep up with said upscaling. And contrary to what you said, AMD has made several improvements to FSR which by and large goes out to new and old cards that support FSR. Meanwhile Nividia keeps making their newest updates to DLSS only for their current generation.
Maybe because 900 series came out 10 years ago and it's driver support is comming to an end so with exeption of Radeon buyers there is literally no market of Nvidia's owners that are incapable of DLSS.
@rotmistrzjanm8776 Except not all RTX cards support all versions of DLSS, as I mentioned earlier. Nvidia keeps making it to where if you want the best version of DLSS you are required to buy a new card which completely defeats one of the major selling points of upscaling which is to make the card you buy more relevant for longer.
It is not amazing if it is worse from engine natively supported tools to achieve same effect. UE4 (means no TSR) is still miles ahead in both performance and quality because it already supports full customization for TAA thru several commands (like quality, CurrentAAFrameWeight, samples etc), it had 5 usable upscaling methods and 1 unusable (luckily, nearest neighbour is not used by default considering simple bilinear is basically free) and it does have better sharpening filter from AMD's CAS because CAS is way too strong and if TAA/Spatial AA is set up properly (which is possible within UE4), it will ruin image with ringing.
The worst part about FSR is the fact that playing a game with bad TAA (cyberpunk as an example) at 900p with added sharpening with monitor interpolation or GPU scaling (depending on a monitor which one is better) will provide better image quality than 1080p quality FSR (720p render) with same performance.
I still never actively used FSR, even at 1440p, because it was always worse compared to alternative methods.
I honestly think the biggest reason why AM5 is still so expensive is because there wasn't a second generation of chipsets yet, like B750 or X770. If they had some kind of major advantage over the B650 and X670, like, let's say, support for faster RAM, or more PCI-e Gen 5 slots, or NVMe Gen 5 on low-end motherboards, while also being reasonably priced, then the price of the first generation of AM5 motherboards would go down. (I would also love USB4 support by default, since I've only seen a few of AM5 with just one, often only internal, USB4 port, while a lot of Intel's motherboards do support Thunderbolt 3 (which is mostly like USB4) or even Thunderbolt 4)
And to answer Tim's question, why won't Microsoft invest in the features that most people use or improve the experience in general, instead of adding ads or investing into AI? Well, the answer is simple, and it's called "platform decay" (or the other, more common word for it, but I'm not sure if CZcams won't flag it). They don't care about improving their services, when squeezing as much money as possible out of their customers at the cost of degrading the experience, is more profitable for them. They have a majority of the market anyway, and they're one of the most wealthy companies in the world, so they definitely can afford losing a bunch of users to macOS or Linux. (Also, I think you guys should give Linux a try. You don't have to make a video on it, like LTT did, since they only compromised themselves with how little they actually know about computers with those videos. Just keep in mind it's not like Windows, both in a good and a bad way. But, I'd say it's as hard to learn as first time learning Windows, but the effort is really worth it. I'd personally recommend either Fedora Workstation, or Linux Mint - don't use Ubuntu, it's pretty much like the Windows of Linux distributions, because the company behind it is as stupid and greedy as Microsoft. I'd really love to see your hardware benchmarks done on Linux

Zen3 in general aged very well imo, i have a regular r7-5800x (bought before x3D were rumored). The stock performance were good but i wanted to see what pbo undervolt + overclock can do and it was better than expected. I finally outperformed the i9-10850k in productivity, r23 1650pts (SC) 16050pts (MC), while still aircooled!
In gaming, the pbo tuning, along with the RAM Cas Latency subtimings improvements, made me close the gap with the x3D in 1080p native maxed and it's now 1fps slower on avg in 4k native.
Since 4k@144Hz will be my next resolution when i'll change gpu (rdna6) and monitor(future oled without burn-in), since i wont play on triple monitors (or ultra wide) the 3Dcache it's something i wont need at all. I had the opportunity to test my rig with a borrowed 4090 on a 4k@144Hz ips display for a week, and i had basically the same 1% lows as the 3D chip (5fps slower at worst), and 1-2 fps difference in the avg in the games i play.

There's a return period in the US as well, where you can just return the defective product to the retailer. Some will try to weasel out of that, but most are pretty good about it. I've used that approach witg Amazon, Newegg, and other smaller outfits with no problems.
Y’all make some of the best content. Keep it up, it’s appreciated.
I'll be honest, I didn't watch the video, but just based on thumbail question:
I think the 3600 and 5600 are in their own category for amazing price / performance, the 5600 is less than half the price of the 5800x3d typically, but still had 32MB L3 cache and faster clock speeds, the 3600 is that just a bit older, but costs half of that again.
Most ultra budget builds for customers I still build with AM4 3600s, while if they want to spend a tiny bit more the 5600.
I used to think 10 and 11th series were still good intel generations, but those perform 10-30% worse, use double the power and cost 25-50% more. (When comparing a new 11600k vs a new 5600 for example)
I got a 5600X3D from ohio and brought it back to Canada, i could have got the 5800X3D but no regrets
My PC was struggling with some big frame drops in ACC. Upped to a 6800XT but that failed under warranty and while I was trying to be sure that was the problem before RMAing it, got a 5800X3D to test it with in case it was my 2600 playing up. Haven't bought a new GPU with my refund but in ACC it's rock solid with frame skips being much rater with the 5800X3D, even with my old 4Gb RX570 back in. No rush to get a new GPU at the minute.
My opinion is that they need a new CPU / Socket that supports more PCIE lanes. Plenty of cores (16) nowadays but not enough PCIE lanes (coming off the CPU) specially when AMD doesn't really know what to do with the threadripper (was effectively dead until intel released a new HEDT)
Maybe 40? (AM5 has 28) - to actually make the PCIE slots on ATX motherboards useable.
16x for the GPU
4x for NVME1
4x for NVME2
4x expansion slot1 (let's say - Thunderbolt)
4x expansion slot2 (let's say, a media decoding / encoding accelerator)
4x expansion slot3
4x for chipset (Extra USB, SATA, WiFi ,Onboard LAN)
I use sunshine/moonlight every day to remote game on my main PC. DLSS is usually left on default and I usually enable raytracing when it's available.
That's my setup exactly except I use an A770 16GB so it's Xess for me and far. I'm happy to see another sunshine/moonlight user. It feels like no one is doing this and it's exactly what we should be doing
Yesssss the 5800x3D is a beast of a CPU have it along with my 7900xtx it and definitely keep up with it
Steve, in you ads yoy mentioned you have tested Thermal Grizzly KryoSheet thermal pad.
I did buy one and I would say my temps are worse than before. I am interested on your test video to see if I possibly did something wrong but I could not find any video on you testing the product.
I have now my r7 7700X idle on 67C with package temp 78C.
When gaming my package temp goes to 95-96C while the "cpu temp" stays on 86 aprox.
I did not lock volts nor anything similar when changing my thermal paste for this product. I was just expecting to get a few degrees cooler.
I'm using Lian-Li Galahad 2 360 AIO
Still on the 5800X3D and I just realised this week I bought my X570X board in 2019 and I am still using it! I am probably going to upgrade soon and I will be going AM5 as the value I have had out of AM4 is unprecedented. Now if only AMD could compete on the GPU side of things...
DDR6 is very likely arrive to desktop in 2H 2026. If you could stay on for another 2 years, might as well skip AM5 and go straight to AM6 .
In terms of performance they do compete and outperform everything except the RTX 4090 and gimmick tracing, while also being better long term value. They just need to spend more on marketing.
@@danhobart4009as much as I want this statement to be true, it's not. You discredit yourself.
@@danhobart4009 They really don't and I want the top tier performance so for me there is literally no competition so I have a 4090 because of that. But even building a second PC I found that the AMD cards just didn't make sense as far as performance and features compared to price. Sad but true, AMD are just not competitive for GPU's and when its your money it is really hard to choose an AMD GPU over a Nvidia one
@@fleurdewin7958 I generally would upgrade after 2 years anyway and even if DDR6 comes in 2 years we all know the initial run will be way overpriced and relatively slow with little benefit of DDR5. I am more holding out to see what AMD reveals at Computex as at present the 7800X3D is obviously in my sights but there may be something better coming soon
To be honest the only reason I still keep Windows on my pc is for gaming. I have a dual boot Linux setup and I would gladly ditch Windows if gaming on Linux was widely supported. Hoping Valve will continue to advance this.
Had an awesome Microcenter Sale over here and got my buddy and myself 5800x3d for $262 after tax. Best upgrade ever for low entry cost.
As someone who uses both Windows 10 and Windows 11 on a daily basis (W11 for work and W10 for gaming) I can honestly say that I like W10 more and will not be updating my personal rig to W11 unless they make changes
A main thing with NPUs is they can do stuff more efficient. So you could perhaps do x AI/machine learning task with a GPU but it would use way less power to use an NPU. GPUs do also have NPUs in them so it isn't exclusive to CPU/APU/SoC package.
I get my 5800x3d on day 1, from 3600. After a few bios updates, I tuned the V to 0.925v to pass the R23 test.
It only takes around 65W when it is fully loaded.
Today, I am using 7900XT and am still very happy to use it.
I guess I can use it until 9800X3D comes out.😊
5800x3d is love, 5800x3d is life.
Make a review of that Gigabyte casing though. Looks sick.
I have to chuckle when I hear about the desire for better and better graphics. I remember being elated to get my first VGA monitor! I think as computers go, we are pretty spoiled nowadays.
i do have a MSI A620I board in my mini PC build a Chopin MAX but it will live on with no video card ever and a puny 8500G IGPU butt it dose seem to be a quality build board but nothing I would toss a 7950x3d chip in and a 4090gpu ...but a r5 7600 with a 4070Tis it at stock speeds all day long it would be a great budget option also great video Thanks
I do very much enjoy the constant 5800X3D validation in tests. Makes me feel good lol.
One of my favorite features from Nvidia is DLDSR. I never hear anyone talk about it, but if you’ve got the performance for it, it’s great. It can completely eliminate the softness introduced by most anti-aliasing and upscaling.
It's not been 100% painless, but I'm so glad I made the switch to Linux back in late 2015, and have not looked back at Windows other than doing a BIOS/Firmware update on a new OEM system before whipping the drive to install Manjaro Gnome, or Solus Budgie I can't do it from the BIOS/UEFI itself.
About the DLSS vs FSR 3.1. The problem with AMD’s upscaler is that you get for example FSR 2.2 even if they implement the Frame Gen so we get “FSR 3” but you get what you get and DLSS is evolving very fast, I just upgraded in Cyberpunk the latest version of the DLSS Super resolution dll, Ray Reconstruction dll and Frame Gen dll and I don’t know if anybody have ever had any problem with this method, if the new DLSS dll is worse than you just try another one which you can’t do with FSR, you have a few options and that’s all you get.
The ads was the last for me with Windows; I've been running Pop! for the past ~3 months.
another 5800x3d video hahaa
Mine has been running in my computer since the end of 22.
I'll wait until June when the new 9000 CPU comes.
am very excited..
I'm a bit disappointed with the new AM5 boards.
and boot times
I'd be curious to see an A620 roundup using Ryzen 8000 APUs and 65W Ryzen 7000 parts. ASRock's A620-HDV/M.2+ looks compelling for a build of that nature, and I'd be curious to know if there are some half-decent ultra budget boards hiding in that chipset class.
Upgraded from 5600x to 5800X3D and it was a huge upgrade, Cyberpunk is smooth as butter, starfield too, even faster shader compile, love it
Do you have any thoughts about the new CAMM-Memory standard that's supposed to come to Desktop PCs in the near future? I've recently read about it in an article teasing the MSI Z790 Project Zero Plus which will arrive for 14th gen Intel and feature DDR5. Do you think there would be any immediate benefits of CAMM2 DDR5 over regular DDR5?
thing i can say about "windows search" that Tim mentions about, the best feature i'd see in windows would be remake of file access of windows, as a web dev i used windows to work, but i literally can't, any page that uses symphony as a base is unusable on windows based server, simple page loads 20s, meanwhile going linux (same would be for mac) changes that to 0.5s
if windows fixed all file problems, then whole system and programs would be slightly faster or more responsive... even working on big photoshop file takes long and is very heavy compared to mac
Still rocking it, hard ti get rid of honestly. Waiting for maybe 8800x3d and then maybe
I forget what i paid for my x470 and x570 boards but im sure they were at least $150, so another $100, for legit upgrades on the board is a win in my opinion. I ahve been leaning towards the Taichi Lite b650? board, but i decided to hold off awhile to see what new chipset/boards look like later this year. 1000% Right about WINblows!! Leaning more to dual booting with linux
Two Aussie Legends
It’s q and a!
I am moving to Linux. Windows 10 will be my last windows. I should have moved long ago, but this it, i had it.
I'm watching this on Linux Mint. Put it on an old laptop too. The CPU couldn't handle Windows bloat but runs okay on Linux.
Mine has. I also only game and my PC has never touched a professional workload. I'm ok with that. I don't want to upgrade until DDR6 comes out. Which sounds like it's coming soon. DDR5 seems like a stop gap.
x850 and x870 will come out alongside zen 5, I don't think it will be much different to the current b650 or x670, it's mostly because intel boards are 8's as well this year. I think a decent upgrade would be pcie 5.0 available on the 16x slot at about 350 aud like a b650m aorus elite ax but also with an 8 layer pcb along with better audio/dac. its the best value in the current lineup of mobos, then if you want more flexibility, the x670 gaming x ax v2, fantastic board, wish it didn't have gaming all over it. That in the x870 version would be great to see as is but again.. pcie 5.0 on the main, 8 layer pcb, would be nice if the other pcie slots were 4.0 as well instead of 3.0 on that one. Holding out to see if they have these features at good prices, otherwise the current boards will work perfectly fine even on nvidia's 6080 i bet. The current b650e aorus master with pcie 5.0 16x is 599 aud, simply too much.
For anyone interested, I have a 5800X3D and a 5950X. As expected, the 5800X3D is faster for games. However, aside from gaming, I much prefer the 5950X. The most standout characteristic is how smooth that chip runs. The desktop just feels better if that makes any sense.
I went from a 2700X to a 5950X, just after the 5800X3D was released, and what a huge uplift that was! I ended up later also upgrading ram (more of it, faster, tighter timings). I wish I’d upgraded my ram at the same time as the cpu upgrade, as it definitely left performance from the CPU on the table (I was running a horrid CL19 kit that was actually running CL20, and went to 64gb of Samsung B-die 3600cl14).
I haven’t used the 5800X3D, but I know exactly what you mean. Everything is so much nicer with general use - so snappy and silky smooth. 😀
The 5800x3d was a way to upgrade my older gen board to current gen performance for most games. I am not sure if I will make it all the way to the AM6 socket or not but so far I have been happy with it.
I can’t run raytraced minecraft higher than 720p on my rx6600, but it works great on an rtx2060.
So for me raytracing matters even on lower end hardware and I would pay extra for this feature. AMD needs to be 25% cheaper to enjoy the “value” argument in the real world. 10-15% disappears completely in just regards to resale $$
I feel current decent AM5 boards are soo expensive, because they know that a lot of people buying them are not going to buy another AM5 board for the longevity of the AM5 cpu lineup.
Buy only 1 motherboard? Well they need to be a little more expensive for the vendors to be on board, or just because they can 🤷♂️
Woah. Tim rant. Nice.
I got a cheap suckie MB and it’s not as terrible as you guys make it out to be with a 105 TDP CPU.
I not sure they'd be able to add DDR6 to AM5 unless they planned ahead for that, since the physical interface needs to be there for compatibility. And then you'd have issues with motherboard compatibility depending on which memory standard they support.
That's amazing that the 5800x3d can hang with the 7700x even with ddr4 vs 5 and being fairly old from 2019ish. Great value if you find this legendary cpu. You can actually find a deal with this combo and pair it with 3080/3060 for 600-1000 and have a great 1080p/1440p gaming exp for 2-3 yrs. Then go to ryzen 9000
This is something that’s occasionally crossed my mind, how much faster the 5800X3D could have been with DDR5 memory. This was typically a forgotten factor back when the 5800X3D managed to retain the performance crown against Alder Lake despite AM4 being DDR4 and the Alder Lake chips were always tested using DDR5. Basically the chip itself wasn’t just faster on its own, it was faster by enough of a margin to overcome the slower memory speed it had to be paired with.
I'm very happy with my 5800X3D and believe it will serve me well for many years to come.
11:30 -Fuck yeah Tim! tell em!
Hey about expensive B650, would you guys look into Chinese B650 motherboard next? Especially Colorful B650 seem like a good choice with decent I/O and good enough pricing compare to that of similarly priced B650 motherboard.
AM4 is best since Intel's SandyBridge platform. I was on lga1155 with 2600k for a decade. Never required an upgrade, used with OC on ram and OC on cpu with 4.4ghz. Using 3700x for 2 years now and it is great to know I can purchase 5800x3d whenever I want and get more out of the platform.
Monthly reminder than Nvidia was just as responsible for 30 series pricing as anyone else, and that MSRP was basically a PR stunt that worked.
Went from 3900x to 5800x3d. Awesome Upgrade for my 3090 liquid
I like the windows rant. So true.
One thing I'd love to see regarding zen 5000 benchmarks. I feel no reviewer ever gave monolithic ryzen it's fair trial. The 5700G/5700 are interesting to me, because they can be lightly tuned to achieve incredible performance per watt. Most reviewers benchmarked it with 3200/3600 mhz ram which was the ideal ram pairing for a chiplet ryzen like the 5800x, but suboptimal for the 5700/5700g as it's Fclock isn't walled at 1900 like most mcm ryzen. I understand that DDR4 4000+ was sort of a pointless ram for most of DDR4's reign because Intel 10 and 11th gen were known to change "gears" if the memory speed was too high, and all but a hand full of ryzens would benefit. So I get the standards being 3200-3600, but I think Ryzen 5700/G will undeservingly go down as a waste of sand due to nobody understanding monolithic properties. It was always tested suboptimally against it's chiplet brothers which were configured optimal. Worth a test?
AMD must love this channel.
can you review on which thermal paste ages the best?
Arctic MX lasts forever for me
Question for chat. I have a 3900x, is a 5800x3d upgrade necessary if I upgrade my GPU to something of 7900xtx/4080 spec. Or will it hold up alright? Not factoring productivity workloads.
Is it necessary? No. Whether it would be beneficial or not, depends on what you're using the computer for. I'm presuming it's gaming, so based on numbers from a GN video they released a few months ago, I'd say around 30% increase, give or take.
