  • His camera eye has given us critically acclaimed movies like Selma and A Most Violent Year, but Bradford Young also wants to challenge the way people of colour are visually depicted in Hollywood films. The talented director of photography joins Shad to discuss his craft, his personal lens, and how portraying people with dignity has been a part of his family's legacy for over 100 years.

q is a magazine show that’s unpredictable in the best sense - proud to be “a wild mix of culture by way of Canada” as described by the New York Times. The Globe & Mail noted the show’s “raging popularity across a variety of platforms -- podcasts, television, websites, satellite radio, terrestrial radio, and occasional live remote broadcasts."

Definitely one of my new favorite cinematographers. Really cool, inspiring guy. Had the great opportunity of working with Bradford last year. Can't wait to see his upcoming work.

Corinna Sequea still a big fan of Bradford and have enjoyed all of his recent work. Especially When They See US and Arrival. I’m always on the look out for anything that he does.

Haile Gerima is the teacher he was talking about. Really worth googling, especially if you love what Bradford does and how he thinks and talks.
