  • What does Annie do on her day off? Clean her Jeep Wrangler of course! All while reflecting on missed business opportunities and pondering new ones. I may be an expert in car audio, but I am certainly not an expert when it comes to black trim restoration. Although it seems like John comes home with some new detailing product every other week, none of the black trim restorer products we have in our garage have EVER lasted more than a week against the faded black trim on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler.
So I decided I was going to research and buy one myself. While researching black plastic restoration I came across @AMMO-NYC Frame Pro Trim Coat. I watched Larry's video and I was sold. I literally watched it and ordered some on the spot. That was months ago, winter came and went and spring is finally here (sort of - we're having a really cold/rainy May so far in CT). On Easter Sunday afternoon I took the opportunity to give my car, a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, a thorough wash, clay and wax. With all the winter grit removed I could FINALLY try out the Frame Pro Trim Coat. I was excited to finally try this black trim restorer to see how well it would work to restore my faded black trim.
All I can say is if this black plastic trim restorer was available years ago I probably never would have sold the Honda Element. That car was ALL black plastic trim. And it was always looking faded to the point where we even re-painted one of the panels.
Now that this amazing black trim restorer is available, I'm so happy I can keep my 2014 Wrangler black trim from fading! After 3 weeks this black trim restorer is still holding up WAY better than any other black trim restorer I've tried before. However, I plan to apply the Frame Pro Trim Coat again soon because I feel like I was stretching it a bit too thin when I 1st applied it and I probably should have applied it a bit heavier. So my only tip is don't be stingy trying to stretch it out - be sure to apply it generously and evenly. This is hands down the best black plastic trim restorer I've ever tried. Just look at the results!!!
Disclosure - I have ZERO business affiliation with AMMO NYC and this video was not sponsored. Just me having fun with my Jeep on a Sunday. Images used with permission.

I ordered 3 units, i believe, 9 total towels, which are scheduled to arrive today. Thank you for the recommendation.

Wow! Looks like the jeep just came out of the showroom and it is 9 years old! Awesome job and seems like a great product.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels! Thanx 4 reviewing this annie gonna try it on my truck! Results look amazing!!! One question does it say on direction you can apply it to tires?

That means a lot to us ❤️ Thank you!! Let me know how you make out, I will say I think I should have applied it a bit more liberally. It’s still looking great and outlasting everything else I’ve tried. My advice would be try not to stretch it out so much like I did 😉

Hey Anthony, just saw your second question. I assume no because the instructions say to apply to black trim, plastic cladding, rubber moldings - no mention of tires. It's technically a semi-permanent ceramic coating so I don't think you'd want to apply that to tires??? Another viewer mentioned in the comments D3 Renew Protect Blak which can be used on tires. I want to try that too because mine are looking really faded, especially my spare. The D3 is considered a polymer/ceramic for comparison.

Cool Wrangler! If you get a few months out of that coating then it's a win. My work neighbor used D3 Renew Protect Blak on his Tahoe trim and says it's been holding up well (I think he should have gone with the SATN). Funny, that front bumper is kinda difficult to get here in Cali. Had to order an aftermarket one for a customer.

@@carstereochick It's been about 9 months, how's it been holding up and has the winter effected it much?

I wonder if you had some left over you could use it on a clean tire and what kind of results you would achieve?

I was tempted to do that, but honestly I need new tires :) Happy to report this is still holding up nicely 5 months later!

Jon might like the SARDVISA Auto Trim Removal Tool. I wrote a brief review on Amazon with pics (Han Kim).

Thank you so for the tip!! I have not tried the D3 renew protect but I definitely will be now because my tires, especially my spare, are looking super faded compared to the freshly improved trim. I will tell John about the removal tool too, thanks so much!! 😊

Annie, one more quick question not regarding this video but a preout voltage question with the stinger heig10…..when u checked the voltage on that unit did u have nomilization off like u did when u rechecked the other units. when i used that unit i loved the features for my tacoma but i did not get good preout voltage from it. Just wanted to check and see if u had nomilization off by any chance because i would love to see the results with it off if u did. Thinking about repurchasing that unit but would like to know the results with nomilization off

I do want to test this unit again. When I 1st tested that unit I do not think I had sound check on because that's basically when/why I started testing these units. It was during supply chain issues and I felt like the 1st one we sold/installed had more kick than the one we actually put in our own vehicle. And when I was doing testing during that period, I was seeing appropriate voltages on other models from Kenwood and Alpine so the Stinger at that time was the only one I wasn't seeing accurate ratings.
And then there was the fact that I talked to an insider who told me it WAS a supply chain issue and would eventually be corrected, but maybe they were like Sony and totally unaware of the potential audio settings throwing off testing. Whenever I see something that doesn't look right I always assume I'm doing something wrong and I reach out to manufacturers to double check and in the case with Sony, it seems even they were unaware of sound check. I would like to re-test the one we still have in our car and then I should test and compare it against a newer one from stock to see if it's the same.

Just remembered - I actually also tested a single din Kenwood eXcelon during that HEIGH10 pre-amp test video because I was baffled at the readings I was getting. I had to re-watch it, I got 5 volts out of the Kenwood during the same testing video so I'm certain it wasn't a setting on the phone. We do have another HEIGH10 scheduled for install in a few weeks. We will re-test and see if they've resolved it yet.

Looks like you have a screw stuck in your tire at 4:45.
