    I like the layout. Sometimes I go to bed before the kids and with all the entertainment towards the back... they might not be as loud.

    We have a 2021 Transcend 265BH (and love it!) -- as for the over-the-bed storage, we got some soft-sided baskets which work very well for holding additional clothes, hats, etc. There is a little lip on the front of that "cubby" area which keeps the baskets in place during travel with no issues.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 2 lety

      TY Brandon! I wondered if little baskets might not work wonders up there :)

    move the towel holder to the pocket door
    then give us more storage near the sink for medicine cabinets (more like a wall of storage with the mirror and sink on the left side 👍

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 2 lety

      I really feel if they closed in the storage next to the shower than that would be less of an issue but yeah that wouldn’t hurt

    Well, a family has more than one towel, so yes, put some more towel bars on the sliding doors.

    This one grew on me as you went through it. The more I saw, the more I like. I would stick a peeper window in the front door. More light. Ii like the kitchen. Like the walk through bath layout. Like the pocket door. Don’t know why they are not used more often. Good quick stop pooper access. I like the doors are color coordinated with the siding. I like the way the steps retract into their own storage area under the floor. Makes for a cleaner road mode profile. When kids are gone, the rear bunks could be yanked and the rear giving area enlarged. Or remove the top or bottom bunk and make a loft or office space. Oh, on this unit, put some wheels with a little more bing on them to brighten up the dark Addams family manor look on the outside.
    One reason I consider peeper windows important on the side doors is safety and security. Always take a peep through the window before you open the door to check the surrounding area. Plus your able to scan the area as desired or needed.

      I'd yank the bunks and tiny cabinet and move a sofa bed up there with a TV. Just in case I ever need somewhere for someone to spend a night. Maybe a small PC desk for my laptop with the TV and sofa. I wish the floor wasn't raised. lol. Personally I love Addams Family/Munsters colors. I even have 2 black cats. The kitchen sink and stove kill it for us. I don't like the layout. I'd rather have the sink under the window and a space between the two. I know I would hip bap the stove controls. Washing dishes if I put them to dry in the corner. I'd have to lean over the stove.

    My wife and I have been watching your videos for a little while now,,,,,Love em! I hate that they are dropping doors for cabinets just to save a few bucks. A small door is preferable to no door. It makes them seem cheaper built. Also I don't understand the upswing doors, not a big fan. Thanks for all you do! if this had frameless windows and a mini outdoor kitchen and a upgraded exterior (laminate) i would've seriously considered this that floor plan is beautiful the fridge on a 12v for the capacity would also be nice and ditch the oven

    • @atptravel
      @atptravel Před 2 lety +1

      There is a "Twenty Twenty Two Limited Edition" with the laminate siding. They are hard to come by. You can convert the rear trunk into an outdoor kitchen of sorts. That Furrion oven is bigger than your standard RV range oven, but I agree. A convection microwave would suit us just fine.

    • @Prabagosatx

      Zachary, there is a propane connection outside that can serve as an outdoor stove.

    • @llldaslll1590
      @llldaslll1590 Před rokem

      If this had those features it would cost as much as the Cougar 30bh that he mentioned in the video. This hits a good price point and gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Like David Thornton said, the rear trunk has an outlet so you can easily mount a fridge back there if you want, and there is a quick connect lp connection. Sadly it's in front of the axles near the front door, so you'd either need a long lp hose, or you'd need to run a permanent line to the rear.

    Hey Josh Great video, I came upon it as my trailer, same model you show here, is in the shop for some trim work and I needed to verify the A/C so I can order my RV Airflow Kit.
    A couple of things I thought would be of interest is, as you mentioned, pulling this with a 1/2 ton is cutting it close. I am currently pulling this with my 2017 Lincoln Navigator utilizing a Blue Ox weight distribution hitch. We have to be sure when loading and distribute the weight on or in front of the axle's to reduce sway, of course keeping the tow vehicle at 55 MPH. Trust me, my first few trips saw my brown knuckles turn white! LOL. Unfortunately, because my Navigator has an electric suspension, I cannot beef up the rear with air bags or any other options to bring the front of the vehicle down a bit. There is some sag but again it's all about weight distribution but this is better pulled with a 3/4 ton truck.
    All in all, this is a great concept and design. We are first time RV'ers and we definitely went through a lot of lessons learned the first few trips. One thing I wish Grand Design would've done is add better lighting to the exterior. You can see it in your video that all it has under the awning is a thin light strip. Good thing is that there are plenty of LED light options to get creative but this would've been a nice final touch. We opted for the theater seating option and all in all are pretty satisfied with this unit. Our kids are young and I can see them enjoying this for years to come.

    I really like this layout. However, road-mode may be a deal breaker. With three kids, we need to make quick stops for bathroom usage. While you can gain entry through the master bedroom, we also like to utilize a single stop say for bathroom break and then lunch in which we would then utilize the refrigerator. I wouldn’t want to extend the slide as some of the stops are at rest stops next to semi-trucks which may limit the room. Possibly move the frig to the other side of the kitchen and put a pantry where the refrigerator is making it accessible in road mode.

    • @llldaslll1590
      @llldaslll1590 Před rokem

      I can tell you that our first trailer was a 24' jayco that we really liked and towed easy with my F150, but it was pretty cramped. I was new to towing so I didn't' want anything over 25'. We upgraded that to a 26' Rockwood with a slide and murphy bed and even though it was 1k lb heavier it still pulled good, but we were very close to hitting payload limits. Plus, my wife couldn't stand the murphy bed even though it made the floorplan super spacious during the day. Thus we ended up upgrading the truck to a 3/4 ton so that we could pull something this size, and eventually landed on this exact model. If I had it to do all over again, I would have bought the 3/4 ton originally, and got the floor plan she really wanted on day 1. The towing anxiety is going to be there either way, but something this size is going to be more difficult to learn on with tailswing on turns and learning to back into spots. If you do decide to get a smaller trailer to just test out the camping life, then buy a used one and expect to lose some money when you begin the trade shuffle!

    normally i do not like bunks, normally would say just end the trailer at the couch, which yes there i a version like that (think that odd behind the sofa bunk was in something similar)..... but if i was planning to possibly full time or live in it, agree the bunks would be very good to have for storage....one time i moved to a smaller place then i had before.. so i set up a storage system with 2 long folding tables stacked on each right behind the couch EXACTLY like this is setup here... tables and couch were exact same legnth as couch and fit perfectly on the wall they went on, same as this, hang old black sheet between tables and couch, does not look all that bad. nearly perfect storage solution... everything totally out of the way, but relatively easy to get to if need something out of it. so in this case i actually very much do like the bunks there... would just have to black out the windows totally, my random boxes and bags do not need to see out the back windows, and more importantly, noone outside needs to see all that stuff stored in there, dont matter if can tell what it is or not, if they see a pile in the window, they know there is a LOT of stuff in there to take. but in this case i would want the bunks, since i have used that storage solution myself before, it is tried and proven very effective from experience already, and very easy to make prettier, get a lighter weight brown area rug matches wood tone or couch fabric tone and hang in front of it, down side too.... would nearly disappear, just have a little odd closet by itself in the corner from first glance and that is all one would notice right off.... only problem, could end up with far too much weight back there if using it for pure storage... boxes of books, ammo, etc. but otherwise would work good... could also use only bottom bunk for storage, make top one a pet area, or vice versa depending on the pet.... good place for that cat box and food bowls and nap spots etc. cats up top, dogs on the bottom lol..... is part of the reason toy hauler versions are my favorite still.... if you really had to put everything you own in one trailer for a long period, until can find a place to store it all or just sell it, you can do it in a toy hauler, and when in normal use.... you have nearly half the trailer to set up any kind of floorplan you want... storage shed no problem another bedroom, no problem, a party room with a pool table, no problem... noone said your toys had to have wheels or go in water or fly for that matter. could put arcade games back there and make a mobile arcade if you want to.... be that as it may.... for anyone who needs more storage like i probably would, and or has a dog / cat traveling with them, this is a great solution, most rv do not really have a spot for things like food bowls and cat boxes... yes sometimes a pull out drawer with water and food somewhere.... better than nothing but...i leave dry food and water down all the time, that drawer would be open 24/7.... here your dog cat goat horse ram snake whatever can have its own space with all its toys and food and such in there, out of the way place for catbox if need one etc. certain bunk models like this one....absolutely yes... excellent. ... like idea of theatere seats in place of dinette and L dinette in place of couch instead.... dinette would be mostly a desk for me most of the time... L shape by bunks be great.... my seat at dinette would be facing the same direction of the new theatre seats, rest of dinette facing way couch does now. all that storage right there in my reach, put desk supplies in that corner of bunk near corner seat... now at "desk" looking right at tv with theater seat people, and looking right out the open door when nice out as well... only need to pivot tv a little if more than 3 people trying to watch it....the 2 theatre seats and the one dinette seat all face strait at it where it is. fridge door would have to be reversed, if so good enough to load mostly. (loading up the fridge at walmart or wherever is the most important travel access point seems to me) overloading the back end i can see a big problem.. that rear end is where my tool box would go and all that heavy crap.... doubt it would fit in other compartments.... then all the storage in the bunks?.... no.... would be pretty much ALL the weight except for water way back there... no....go over a bump and the back end snap off like kit kat bar lol.

    • @llldaslll1590

      The 261 is a standard rear bath rear bunk model with the bath on the driver side. Thus only one entry door, questionable bathroom access when in travel mode (although we could manage it in our previous rockwood with a similar layout). A similar floorplan to the 261 is also made in the imagine line. This floor plan isn't available in the imagine line, which makes it kinda special. They do have a 150 series 268bh 5th wheel that is similar, but costs twice as much.
