I love this camper just how it is. The fact that it doesn’t have a slide is a huge bonus for me, one less thing to worry about breaking! Definitely something that I would love to camp in!😊
Nice! Ty
@@JoshtheRVNerd your welcome 🤗
I like seeing no slide models.
👍🏻
I do agree about the outside speaker. Personally, I would trade the speaker for a lower bunk window. Having kiddos, you have the argument of who gets the top bunk and then add, in this layout, who gets the window? Parents all know that happens. Aside from that, great camper. Basic to me screams opportunity to customize. No slide is fine by me. Add a screen in room and I am set and happy as bug in a rug. Great review Josh. 👍🏻
Thank you for watching!
Turn that into a couple's model. No bunks, dinette, or sofa. Move the tv to the other side and add a couple of recliners. Full sized bathroom shut up and take my money.
I'm sure they'll have some no-bunk version as well
Take a look at the Imagine XLS 23LDE. That's the one my wife and I camp in and it is fantastic.
@@CF542I like that but I am more interested in a no slide camper.
They totally could do that !!
Putting the kitchen where it is, is genius! Using the wall that's usually blank, now has a sink and cabinetry on it and boom all of a sudden a good spot for a TV.
Totally agree!
This reminds me of the campers when i was a kid. Everything you need and everything in the right place. My grandparents always had what was called a Class C so my cousin and i looked down on trailers like they were peasants, but hey, they worked and we all had fun!
And no slid 😍
It really harks back to the good ole days and its nice to see something that isnt garbage or garbage full of gimmicks. Just so nice! Its modern enough like the spot for the tv and docking station and thats perfectly fine. This thing is great. 🍻
No Burning Man joke. This is luxury camping the right way.
😊
I love this layout!
Josh: Very Nice. A bunkhouse model without a slideout. Someone at Grand Design is finally listening to us slide adverse folks. Here’s hoping that sometime in the future this beautiful floor plan can be modified and shortened to more of a couple’s trailer. Overall this is a definite winner. Grand Design, please don’t mess it up when it goes into full production Respectfully, W.S.
TY Sir!
Love that layout. Great family started unit.
I think so too!
I like the smooth clutter free undersides of this camper. The dump pipes are tucked up out of the way and there are minimal things sticking down from the belly to get snagged on things and also disrupt air flow underneath the trailer. Plus it just looks neat and tidy.
Yeah it’s basic.. but cleanly executed
Transcend has nailed this floor plan. Would love to see Grand Design carry it over to their other product lines for a more feature-packed, polished finish version! One recommendation would be to consider replacing the dinette with a breakfast bar to open the floor space.
I'd be on board with that
I like the breakfast bar idea. A lot!
Like this one. I’d pull the bunks to make room for Raff’s cage. Have to add solar and TV.
Its hard to go back to no slide after you've had one, but, if I did this is pretty good. I also dig it when rv companies include a BT speaker in place of the sound bar. The speakers included are always trash and cost of putting them in could be better spent elsewhere. Also it's just another hole in the wall and thats never good.
I do agree. The space of them is nice
You talk about you don’t camp with a TV? I find it funny that anyone that has an RV calling it camping at all 🤣. I remember sleeping in a tent with Pops and him saying how much the RVers miss out on when camping. Something I agree with him now that I’m a grown man. So happy he showed me how to camp and not sleep in a park home away from home
I’ve always loved the transcend brand. The drawers and cabinet by the door is a plus! Thank you Josh!
You are so welcome!
Great job #JTRVN
Josh, the RV nerd ! I believe I’ve been watching your channel since 2019!
The nerdy part is I watch it once per day around 9:30 PM Lol😮
TY for all the time you spend here :)
Thank you for all you do too!
Great video and nice floor plan.
TY!
#RVNerdHerd 🎉 😊 🎉
Reminds me of a slightly dumbed down version of my 264BHW Jayco.
We have the 247bh that spot for the TV in bedroom is a great spot for a fan.
Ooh good idea
Hi Josh! This is not so bad of a TT. Just wish it had convention microwave since there’s no oven other than that it’s fine. Minus the bottom bunk which is sad with no window. Thank you Josh for showing this Rv.
That's not a bad idea. TY
although a little tight for a bunk model i bet the couple/ individual model will be amazing
I’m eager to see what they come up with
Love the true queen, just went to the Treasure Valley RV show Boise ID and saw so many short queens, not at the Bish's display so much but the other dealers, lots.
Yeah it varies a lot by brand but I prefer a true queen myself
This is the first no slide bunkhouse I've seen I'd choose over my grey wolf 26DJSE. Very Nice! AWESOMELY HUGE TANK CAPACITIES!!!
I actually really liked it and could see my family using it
If they made that without the bunks and a bathroom across the back...😘👌
A door on the dinette for easier access would be appreciated or make a bar style dining area with shallow storage underneath, looking over your campsite would be even better. Maybe that would make space for theater seats?
They just might.. I'd be totally on board for that!
Nice little entry level family bunkhouse floorplan👍that would be so much better with a ladder, some solar to make it “off grid” capable, a TV and a decent bathroom with a porcelain toilet, a shower door to prevent water from rotting the floor and a Maxxair fan💥💥💥
good video Josh
Ty!!
My first thought on changes costing minimal production dollars are to delete the outside speakers and widen the bathroom door 1 or two additional inches. If necessary to accommodate the wider door, trim a corner of the sofa cushion. Us fatter bigger people would appreciate that. I also like the breakfast bar idea. Especially if it is a drop down model. It opens up that space for more flexible use of the space.
Ty!
How do u hook up the water and electric? Need to keep that compartment open?
After watching the "slide" version, this one is so much better to me (solo). Same furniture/structuring/key features, better hitch weight & cargo capacity, no extra frame strain because of a slide, more counter space because there's no cut off gap. The bunks would be good for (upper) cat zone, and (lower) storage/electronics base for the table/desk. 😍
I do like the space of the slide but in reality this one is just as functional with all the same features as you mentioned. It's a STRONG model
I really like this unit overall. Lots of neat touches and thoughtfulness went into this design. And I don’t care if it’s a new release of an old design, good then is still good today.
Agree. Modern classic is fine by me
Suggestion. make the lower bunk bed fold up and offer a garage door option in the back below the rear window. That could open that space up for carrying bulky items used at the camp site. Like camp chairs, tables, bikes and so on.
I like those cargo doors
They do cost more in total between extra framing and the door itself than folks realize so budget campers rarely have them
Josh can the new gx550 pull this comfortably?
I for one like having a window in the back wall of the camper. For me, it just adds a bit of more open roomy feel to the inside of the unit.
Agreed
I really like that one. only two things for me is window for the bottom bunk but then again not that important to me because I think I would sleep in the bed on that one instead of the bottom bunk. see that one is a guys hunting camper to me, basic eat and sleep place. the table I think needs more room so you could put an adult there and room for the fluffy friendly people to fit better around the table.
Forget fluffy friendly, how ‘bout us fat ones? Lots of us around.
Bruh you gonna have to lay off the cigars! 😂 Just messing with you. 😂
lol
I can’t believe the one dealbreaker for me is actually a gas oven.
We do make biscuits and I love to make pizza while I’m camping. Of course we do the typical ribeye steaks and baked potatoes, but those go on the fire pit.
Try this one perhaps czcams.com/video/ymDbC6h9F5U/video.html
So does it have 2 grey tanks then
This one is pretty darn good... Other than missing a window in the lower bunk. I hope that's not a safety issue.
I think I’d get out the entry door faster and safer than climbing out of a window
About the only negative I could say would be that the awning isn't big enough. It looks like they could extend it more towards both the front and back.
👍🏻
I like that this camper is only 7,000 pounds all loaded up. That means your 10,000 GCVW 1/2 ton pick em up truck or suv can tow this trailer and still have 3,000 pounds left over for a family of 5 or 6 and 2 dogs, a kitty cat, gas for the truck/suv and all your gear and still be under full loaded capacity.
Having had a 247BH, I really appreciate a LOT of these changes. One thing I don't care for, however, is the loss of the lower bunk window...
Windows are tough to give up but they quickly scale costs down
Nice floor plan. Do they offer this without the bunks?
They will make no-bunk models in time absolutely
Just a "please think of it" request, but on the next trailer you see with a built in trash can, can you note whether it has enough clearance to take a lidded can? Garbage smells (or even just attracts bugs), and I don't want an open topped can anywhere in my kitchen. That would (for me) be the difference between useful, and more wasted time as I have to cut out the frame or replace the set-up entirely to make it useful.
That's a fair request. TY. I'll see what I can do. When they're in a built-in slide open like this I doubt that'll often be the case but if it's just an open cavity under a sink I'll try to keep it in mind
One thing. Look at the cargo capability. Then look at the size of the tanks. For that much tanks, cargo is a little low.
I think the jayco 274 model does it better for slightly less and they also give you a camp kitchen also
MSRP on this one is only 25k. That means you can probably buy it for 15-18k. Can’t do that with the 274bh.
@@405bassin7 what are you smoking dude price is $29000
Understanding that this is a lower cost price sensitive model, I think GD did a good job on this no slide model. A few things that are a bad idea; having the fuse box in the bedroom is a huge mistake. I have the same one in mine and that noisy fan inside is always blowing hot air and it should be in the main area. The bedroom curtain is sort of cheesy making a private bedroom not so much. Lastly, the pet bowl drawer is a cute idea but I'd say it was designed by someone who has never owned a dog before. The water bowl is going to soak all into that wood and the food slopping around will rot out the wood pretty quick.
I’ve never been super pumped about the pet dish ideas myself
The biggest turn off for this & the 2024 247bh is the lack of an oven. Even though it was small, removing the ability to bake is a hard no for my wife & I.
This model is close to great. No kitchen countertop though. But can sleep 6... makes no sense. These RV need more clothes storage... often the biggest impediment to purchase. I do like the storage under the sofa.
One of the biggest mistakes in new designs, I feel is getting rid of crank out windows. Those were the BEST when it rains. IMO
Yeah crank out windows are so nice on a rainy day
I personally think Grand Design can do so so so much more with the Transcend altogether. We have the 27 BHS and we had to change things up a lot to work for our needs.
They have a new product manager for Transcend now I think has the potential to help evolve the brand to its next step. Not knocking what Transcend has done to date though
Models like the 260RB, 240ML, 200MK, and 265BH are trailblazers in the stick and tin world
Anybody else mention the Floorplan was white screen?
Yeah I apparently forgot to include it 🤦🏻♂️
Between this, the Go Play 26bh and the Jayco 260bh which would be your personal choice, Josh?
That GO►PLAY 26BH is about perfect for me as a casual family camper
I wouldn’t turn my nose up at any of them. None are bad
This model isn't bad! Especially if the couch had a swivel table attachment to it. That way a kid could eat there while us pleasantly plump parents sit at the dinette.
Of course, if this was 1000lbs lighter we could pull it and we would seriously consider it!
Hmm.. wonder how they’d lighten it up..
I had looked at Transcend before getting my Imagine, and there is definitely a difference in the quality. I was disappointed with Transcend
Transcend: "A place for a tv but not actually including one..."
My Drill Sgt: "The Army says we have to give you 3 meals a day, they didn't say we had to give you time to eat them" 😐
Hahahhaa
I don’t miss the oven at all. Nor do I miss the “camp kitchen”. Maybe install a bigger capacity lithium iron battery to the front so you have enough juice to run the microwave. Looks like there is plenty of room for one or two of those.
batteries don’t run microwaves btw. Inverters do that
@@JoshtheRVNerd True. The batteries don’t actually run the microwave. Microwave does not care where its power comes from. Just so long as the pipe (power cord) is filled with the right stuff. Batteries provide the stored raw power. Inverters intake the power and process it into the proper format (right stuff) the microwave needs to properly function.
Damn, bunks! No kids.
They’ll have bunkless stuff in time
The lack of lower bunk window and bedroom door are big misses for me. I also don't like shower curtains. The traditional siding and lack of a ladder are also negative. This is too cost conscious for me.
fair enough! The full "Transcend" series will continue doing the things you may prefer
🎉#NerdHerd
Oops, no floor plan preview...
That's because it's INVISIBLE! That'll cost ya for sure!
derp. I failed
I was wondering if you could help me with toy haulers that aren’t toy haulers for two and a couple dogs 😁 PLEASE
😂😂 he's not her to show you stuff on a whim. Go to his channel! He's got TONS of videos.
Turns out that's exactly why I'm here!. Try something like these:
► 30VC VIEW: czcams.com/video/11QeXPAS3OQ/video.html
► 262VC: czcams.com/video/zmRNPZoBc2U/video.html
► 245VC: czcams.com/video/luvWRnYEBoA/video.html
After watching all of these videos from Josh, curious how someone who has lived and reviewed in SOOO MANY different models would make a floorplan. Something new or tried and true?
Sort of depends on what we're looking to accomplish
I have ideas both ways actually I'm keeping in my back pocket for a rainy day lol :)
@JoshtheRVNerd looking forward to it!
So a stripped out 247bh “all new” 😂
We appreciate the hard work you put into these videos.
But, that being said, if viewers could delete a video based on their likes on what they see, this Plan would be deleted. People like to shower and Crap in comfort, even though it's the least amount of time they spend in a RV 😂
That's why I like covering different things - something for everyone
I actually rather like a lot of what this rig offers but that doesn't mean I'm right and you're wrong. Just means it's definitely not the right one for you :)
Yeah still sticking by my comment jayco 274bh even has a pocket door and not a curtain plus oven jayco is definitely nailing it on this version currently they shower and toilet space is definitely bigger to I think since they took the explor out of it they really screwed themselves and there price point isn't that great
Yeah that 274BH flight should have a little more equipment as I think it'll likely run a few more dollars
Why is your audio inconsistent in many of your videos? At times your voice is muffled and it's difficult to hear you.
Apologies - Skipping thru this I'm not hearing major inconsistencies. It may be something resulting from bandwidth restrictions during viewing
After watching Liz's videos, i would never buy a Grand Design.
Great video, but this trailer is not for me.
Fair enough!
The other thing I won't ever understand is why the bunks are not made identical in size 🤷♀️
You and me both
Broken record here...needs outside access to bunk area for cargo. I know, I know, need to reduce cost, but still.
👍🏻
Not a big fan of this layout. I do not like these cheaper rvs. I like the jayco version better. The jayco version has better colors and out side look. This is not my stale. Have a good day josh!
TY for watching and sharing !
No price in the link…
That's why I mentioned this being early access footage - the RV doesn't exist in production yet. They're not making these for sale yet. So there's nothing to show for pricing. Final pricing is literally not yet known
Link left for folks who watch this later on
12 volt fridge?!?! Nope. Needs dual fuel.
I'd be pulling that awful dinette out as soon as I brought it home.
lol
What would you put in its place/
I completely understand this is a price sensitive rig. However, that is a lot of places for hungry hungry mouths to sleep, with no pantry! Lose the dinette, add a flip-up eating bar under the campside window, slim the "simulated" cinema seat down to just 2 seats (no flip down armrest) and slap a pantry beside the fridge.
That's not an awful idea
@@JoshtheRVNerd That's what I shoot for... not awful... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
same lol
Uh, yeah, if Wolverine Hugh Jackman is a dad bod, then the rest of us dad's are apparently already dead.
i know. it's dumb
Sorry Smokey, your toe was over the line. Mark it zero Dude.
I DON'T ROLL ON SHABBOS
Was ready to write a check and buy this camper until I saw it had two separate waste outlets. No thanks!!
Keep an eye for when it goes into production. Sometimes they tweak stuff like that
Looks like they just cheapened it (no bedroom door, no tv, no solar, no ladder, and thinner more traditional skin) while keeping the price the same. I HATE that they did that, I’m in the market and this was my no1 contender until I saw what they did to it.
Pricing is definitely lower on these vs a 247bh but they don't always allow us to publish real pricing so it may be hard for you to see that
Outside speakers need to go away.
👍🏻
This is a HORRIBLE floor plan. I agree with the other guy. Remove the dinette, remove the bunks. That horribly uncomfortable looking couch, throw a real couch or a couple of recliners, make the entire back end a bathroom with extra storage options. And take my money.
Sounds like you're seeking a couple's RV but looking at a bunkhouse in a video. Makes sense you wouldn't care for it
You're describing what would be a HORRIBLE floor plan for ME. I need the bunks and the extra seating and dinette. You need to shopping on a different video.
Ok, I'm confused. That is the exact same floorplan as the 247BH which IS an Xplor model. Only difference for the most part is decor. I love my Transcend Xplor and Grand Design but not sure what they are doing regarding the Transcends. They had Transcends then about 5-6 years ago added the Xplor line, then faded out the Transcend and everything became Transcend Xplors only, now it seems like they're reversing the whole process. Based on the way they appear on video I don't like the new version. Doesn't look inexpensive it looks cheap & poorly made. I liked the different exterior the Transcend/Xplor had and the furniture looks terrible. Maybe it looks better in person. Disappointing direction from Grand Design. 😢
They're renaming their segments. It's super obvious now since this is early access
*CURRENLTY:* All Transcends are "Xplor" models
*SOON:* Transcend will split into two divisions
► Just "Transcend" will be their up-level series. Many existing models will roll right into that. Possibly with a few enhancements
► "Transcend Xplor" will be their more basic series like you see here
@JoshtheRVNerd So, do you think the floorplans will be different, or might they actually take the 247 BH which is the exact same floorplan as that one and make it the Transcend version instead of being an Xplor?
I cannot speak on their behalf but I'll be surprised if this doesn't cause the 247BH to retire
In my experience when a stick and tin builder makes the same layout in up/down trim packages the less expensive one almost always chokes out its big brother
No a fan of this model
What do you dislike?
@@JoshtheRVNerd it looks cheap to me and I like the imagine tt
