Subscriber 277 here. Greatly enjoyed your 2 episodes so far and am looking forward to all of them. Husband and I drove to the Yukon and Alaska in August this year and were surprised to see the many lone cyclists braving the secluded, steep and often potholed highways. Safe travels!

This is great, I watched Ed Pratt's Unicycle journey around the world recently and this is giving me similar vibes. Also your tribute to Hugh was very moving.

I chickened out of that same Clinton-Pavillion shortcut on my first tour from Calgary to Vancouver. Still need to go back and give that segment a go. The descent into Lillooet through the Fraser canyon is one of the most spectacular roads in Canada. The climb out to Pemberton is just as steep though! Rolling down the 99 and over the Lion’s Gate bridge is a spectacular milestone in any bike tour, no matter how far you still need to go. Wish I’d found you sooner, Id’ve loved to come out and help you up some of those nasty BC passes! If you ever find yourself back here, I can heartily recommend the run up Vancouver Island, followed by the ferry to Rupert and Haida Gwaii.

This is really good, man. I don't even bike tour, but I "do stuff." I choked up when you took time to pay tribute to your friend, Hugh. Any time I climb a mountain and check the summit register, I seem to find some remembrance of someone's loved one that passed away. It always gets me straight in the heart because you know what it's like to share those miles or those experiences with someone and it makes us think of the people we miss.

Your video just does something with me, it stirs up so much emotions. Right now I'm 28 years old and never had a big adventure I went on. Other things seem to have priority in order to get settled for in the future seem to get in the way; Get a good education and diploma, find suitable housing during a housing crisis here in the Netherlands, working on the side to survive off a student budget, not much wriggle room to do something.
Was planning on being done when I was 24, but changed studies and had jobs in between. Now here I am, 28, still grinding but with the end in sight: I'm graduating in June 2023 and have a fairly big chance to find proper housing.
I hope to finally be able to get on a proper adventure before I get a house. I have been longing for one, for actually seeing something of the world. On the way encounter hardships, to let the unexpected just be. I have an obsession with planning stuff out and being prepared for everything that could happen, minimizing risks and uncomfortableness.
I hope an adventure, like jumping on a bike with just a finish line will let me learn that it'll be okay and to just enjoy the moment. Learn to enjoy the moment, and not focus on the next big thing that will improve your future life, at the cost of your current life. You're only young once.
It's sad that you're on the other side of the world, and your ride will come to an end once I finally graduate, but I'd love to hop on that bike with you.

Could you take a year out to have that adventure sooner rather than later? Don't regret not doing something you want to do because you spent your life doing what you "ought" to do.

G'day Chris. I'm so stoked you wound up watching this, and glad you liked it. I wound up getting stranded in Puerto Vallarta for 39 days with a broken bike, which wasn't too bad, as it gave me plenty of time to work on Episode 3, which won't be too far off. I'm currently a little south of you, in Morelia. I really hope we bump into eachother on the road again soon!

riding a tandem bike is very much like having a passenger on the back of a motorcycle.. You need to teach the passenger to look over your right shoulder as you turn right.. That keeps you both in balance.. Teach your passengers this first and things will flow much easier..

Be glad those are only black bears and are for the most part afraid of people but they have them in Alaska and in the western United States and that includes the Rocky mountains and those are grizzly bears and are not afraid of anything and can stand up to 12ft and weigh as much as 1500 pounds watch out for them also in the Rocky Mountains in western United States we have mountain which they are known to attack people

  • @bryonensminger7462

OK I see the problem with your food disappearing you are hanging the food right on the tree bears can climb try stretching a rope between 2 trees and hang the food in the center of the rope but bears are not the only animals you need to worry about stealing your food Wolverines and Badgers can both climb trees and they will steal your food
